I made it to the gym last night! Yay! HOWEVER, did not make it up this morning. grrrr. Still working on it, but not there yet.   My plans today:   10 am - 20 min on elliptical   3:00 pm - 20 mim on elliptical   No exercise tonight - going to a meeting and home to bed.   wt - 169.8

12/7/09 - 1 week down, 6 more to go!

Thats right, I just finished 1 week of my exercise plan and eating right! And I've stayed off the scales for an entire week. This in itself is hard for me to believe because I'm a total scale whore. I usually weight at least 2 to 10 times a day. And I haven't weighed once all week!   I'm not going to weigh until 12/14 - I will also measure to see if I've made some progress in the past two weeks.   Here is a recap of my week:   11/30 - 60 min of cardio and 60 min of strength training (lower body)   12/01 - 5 am cardio - HIIT 45 min   12/02 - 60 min of cardio and 60 min of strength training (upper body)   12/03 - 5 am cardio - HIIT 45 min   12/04 - 5 an cardio - HIIT 45 min   12/05 - 60 min of cardio and 60 min of strengh training (lower body)   12/06 - "Free Day"   I ate clean all week, Sunday is my cheat day or what I call a "free day". If I want a cookie I can have it, but just one, and I don't count my calories, I don't exercise - I try and make good choices, but I'm not obsessed about it. I am happy to say, I did good, even on Sunday!   Now my week 2 begins! I'm trying to do this plan until my 3 year band anniversary - 1/18/10. I want to be at goal, or close to goal by then. I'm tired of teeter tottering around the same freaken 10 lbs!   I am so proud of myself for sticking to my plan this past week, its got me motivated to continue with this plan. It also helps that I've had a buddy. I know I can't turn the alarm off at 5 am and go back to sleep because she is waiting on me. So, as much as I hate to do it, I get up and head to the gym! 3 days a week its 5 am and 3 days a week its evening or late afternoon.   I think my biggest fear is to step ont the scales on 12/14 and not see any results. It could happen, but I do feel my clothes fitting better, so hopefully my measurements will show a loss.   Okay, I'm ready to hit week two!

3/6/07 update

I haven't posted my menu lately, just too busy to even get online. My husband is doing a cleanse, so I decided I would do it with him. So I started it yesterday, is completely liquids, no food.   I have my first fill today, I'm so excited. My doctor requires liquids for 5 days after a fill, so I thought it would be a good time to do my cleanse. I'm hoping to lose a little weight with the cleanse too!   I will post later about my fill experience.   I did make it to the gym 5 times last week! I am happy with that. Still working on getting up in the AM and so far, just can't do it.

6/11/09 - Day 4 of 84 day challenge

OMG, shoot me now and put me out of my pain!!!! That's exactly how I feel, my butt hurts so bad, it hurts to sit, it hurts to walk, I'm in so much pain.   Those lunges yesterday did me in for sure! I had such a great lower body workout yesterday, but I sure feel it today. Ouch, I'm hurting!   But, onward we go with the challenge, I will not quit, I will not stop, I'm going all the way to the end!   Today:   Menu Bfast - protein shake, added a TBSP of peanut butter to it   M2 - peach, string cheese   M3 - hummus, carrtos   M4 - salad, grilled chicken   M5 - turkey chilli,veggies   M6 - WW ice cream bar   Exercise - Cardio, HIIT,   Wt - didn't weigh   Notes - I'm sooooooooooo sore! :crying:

The last few days I can tell I can eat more than usual. grrrrr. Makes me wonder if this fill is no longer working! However, this morning I got a visit from TOM (time of month) so that might be the reason. I've read where some are looser right before TOM, then gets tighter once TOM arrives. So, I will see how I do over the weekend.   I really want this fill to work! I am at 3.8 cc's, you would think that would be plenty.   I did not weigh this morning since TOM is here and I know the scales will be up. I'm so ready to get to the 160's!

My first fill

Okay, I admit it, I was nervous, scared and anxious to get my first fill. I can't believe how wonderful the nurse was.   My doctor has my fills done by the radiology dept at the hospital right next to his office. I got my fill from a Dr. Dennison. He was so nice. Anyhow, he found my port very fast, but did have some problems sticking me, the port kept moving. He first cleaned me with some alchohal, then stuck me with some novocaine (sp), and numbed me up. He finally started my fill, very painless after the first stick to numb me. Which it was only a tiny sting. Anyhow, he filled me up to 2.0 cc's, and then the worst part of it all, the drinking of the barium - chalky stuff, NASTY.   The 2.0 fill showed MAJOR restriction, my esophogas started having spasms, then he had me relax, take another swallow, and still was going thru the band really slow. He then took .2 cc's out, which brought me down to 1.8 cc's, and there was no restriction, he put back to 2.0 cc's and it was going thru really fast, He then raised it up to 2.2 cc's and I felt restriction. He had me swallow again, and I could see and feel the fluid sitting there. Then it would slowly go thru. I hope I'm not too tight, but he said it loosens up a bit, and my Esophogas was having spasms, more than usual he thought, but didn't seem worried about it. He did say if I'm too tight and find it uncomfortable, to call him and he will take some of the fluid out.   I am to be on liquids for FIVE days, then soft foods for 2 or 3 days, then back to regular foods. I hope the weight loss will start back up again, I sure hope it does.

I love my silacone buddy

Okay, so I've been eating and binging the last week. I've avoided the scales because I just couldn't bare seeing them say 175lbs or 180 lbs.   Well this morning, I decided "Tonya, you have to face the music". I was dreading stepping on the scales, but I knew I needed to see the damage I've done so I can get back on track.   Well, I stepped on the scales, held my breath a little, and I was shocked. I knew the scales would say at least 175, but they didn't - they said 172.3! I couldn't believe I hadn't gained more. I love the band, I will NEVER EVER EVER be fat again! I just remember all the times pre-band that I binged, how many lbs I would gain off one binge - alot of times it was 10, 20, 30 lbs in a month - I swear it!   Even though I think I'm eating a lot, I still am not eating NEAR the amount of food I ate pre-band! And, I'm not even at a good restriction level.   Oh, stepping on the scales this morning made me feel so good and in control again. Thank you my dear silacone buddy!

staying on my plan today, I have done pretty good with my eating this week, however, my exercise SUCKS.   I've had so much going on, my remodel of my house is ongoing, almost finished but not quite. My mother went into the hospital last night for pneumonia and she is being kept because her EKG showed she had a mild heart attack at some point. Then, my mother in law was also taken to the hospital for chest pains and she is having a heart cath done right now. Needless to say, with all the hospital visits, my eating has not been planned, but I've eaten very little. I feel a little more restriction now, must be stress.

Still waiting

I'm still waiting to hear something from my insurance company. I am not sure when it was actually submitted, I hope my letter from the doctor got sent out. I think it probably went out last week, but it might have not gone out until this week because the docs office was closed 2 days due to the snow & ice.   Anyhow, I am getting anxious and nervous.   I didn't weigh this morning, but I know i'm losing. I suspect I weigh around 229 or 228.

NO am workout this morning, however, I was planning on going tonight because I will be doing lower body workout. I just cannot do weights in the morning, I need to be awake and have my strength.   I should have got up anyhow and did my cardio. But not going to beat myself up over it, UNLESS I don't go tonight, but thats not going to happen, I WILL GO TONITE!   Wt 170.7 - grrrrrrr

Sometimes I should just stay in bed!

Sometimes I should just stay in bed, like today. Have you ever had one of those days when you wake up mad? Today is my day! First of all, I wake up and I knew right away my leg was swollen by the way it felt, It hurt and was throbbing and I can't bend it. This means I'm having another relapse, which extends the time I will be on these darn crutches and leg brace....grrrrrr.   2nd, I weigh. Bad mistake, Tom is here, my leg is swollen and I ate fattening stuff this weekend. The scales said 177! OMG, how can that be? I didn't eat that much - but I had manacotti and mexican over the weekend. I must be holding a lot of water is all I can say.   I'm just so darn discouraged! I'm in a bad mood I guess. I think I need to go home and take a nap.

Eating has sucked, exercise has sucked - but still trying to get back on track!   I was wide open last week, I mean wide open! Ate anything and everything and hungry all the time. I seem to be tighter today, and TOM just came for his monthly visit. I seem to be always extremely loose right before TOM and tighten back up during TOM. I'm bloated and holding so much water, it hurts to walk, my feet tingle I'm so bloated. GRRRRRR.   Today's menu:   Bfast - weight wise oatmeal   Lunch two chicken tenders - grilled   Dinner - not sure yet?   Exercise - I haven't in the last week and a half, maybe I will finally get back to the gym tonight!

My menu is pretty boring, so I'm really not going to post it. Its basically a "Master Cleanse/Lemonaide Diet". My DH is doing it to clean out his arteries, etc, so I'm supporting him and doing it with him. Your supposed to do the cleanse for 10 days, or up to 40 and beyond. There is NO WAY that I can do it beyond 10 days, and not sure if I can hang for 10 days, but giving it a try.   The cleanse consist of:   10 oz of water - purrified only or spring 1/2 fresh organic lemon (or regular lemon - which is what I'm using) 2 TBSP of Maple syrup - GRADE B only. You have to get this at health store and 1/10 of tsp of ceyenne pepper - or to taste   You drink this 6 or more times a day, and in between you have fresh spring/purified water.   You eat NOTHING, and if the cleanse is not "moving", you can have this concoction with some organic laxative tea - twice a day. AFter 10 days of this, you begin with a little orange juice - this prepares the body for digestive with food. Then on day 12, you begin adding some fresh fruit/veggies - and day 13, gradually add your lean meats and grilled veggies or fresh.   I'm on day 3 of my cleanse. I had my fill yesterday and required to be on liquids anyhow, so I'm doing the cleanse.   Exercise was NOTTA Monday & Tuesday, but I will exercise everyday the rest of the week!   Exercise today - 20 min treadmill, 3.2 mph, 1.05 miles, 160 calories -

Happy 11 month Anniversary to me

Today makes 11 months since my banding. Scales have not went down, and have went up this month. Normally I would be sad, but I'm really not. I've not done good with eating the past month, I need a fill badly, so I'm okay with gaining 3 lbs. 3 lbs in a month is acceptable to me.   Here is my updates on weight: Highest weight - 248 1 mo post op - 206.8 2 mo post op - 198 3 mo post op - 193 4 mo post op - 184.2 5 mo post op - 178 6 mo post op - 174 7 mo post op - 178 - went on vacation and ate big 8 mo post op - 174 9 mo post op - 170 10 mo post op- 167 11 mo post op - 170 - havent even been trying

5/1/07 - day 9 of 84 day challenge

m1 - light swiss cheese/ coffee w/cream m2 - handfull of nuts - about 15 nuts m3 - 2 oz of chicken - I couldn't eat any more. I must be tighter today. m4 - taboli, about 1/2 cup, and a few bites of salad and 1/2 of deviled egg m5   Exercise - LBWO - 5 am   Quads - Seated leg press 12 - 35 10 - 35 8 - 40 6 - 50 12 - 40 Leg extensions 10 - 30 lbs (just couldn't do 12)   Hamstrings Seated leg curls 12 - 15lbs 10 - 25 8 - 35 6 - 45 12 - 40 dead lifts 12 - 5lbs dumbbells in each hand (10 lbs total)   Calves horizontal calf 12 - 50 10 - 70 8 - 90 6 - 110 12 - 100 Calf raises 12 - 5 lbs dumbbells   ABS- incline crunches 20, 20, 20 Hammer strength ab crunch 10 - 10lbs 10 - 10lbs - this is a killer ab workout   Exercise #2 - 20 min on Elliptical machine (HIIT) oh baby, am I working it or what? I'm actually starting to become obsessed with exercise!   Notes - wt 191.8 - OMG - am I really going to see 189 soon? I'm getting so excited.

12/8/09 - Going strong in Week 2

Week 2 of my exercise program:   Monday's menu:   coffee with 2 tbsp of flavored cream (just can't seem to give this up) - 70 cal yogurt mixed with 1/2 cup of raw oatmeal - 230 cal   Protein shake - 280 cal   hummus & carrots - 170   almonds - 240   lean turkey - brocoli & 255   Total cal 1175   Exercise:   Hit the gym around 8:30 pm last night   Started with 30 min on elliptical   BICEPS -   2 sets of Standing Hammers (8 lbs weights) 2 sets of Alternative Dumbbell Curls (1 set with 5lbs, 1 set with 8 lbs)   TRICEPS   Overhead tricep extensions - 2 sets (5 lbs) Tricep pushdown - rope - 2 sets, 1 @ 20 lbs, 1 @ 25 lbs.   Shoulders   Dumbbell shulder press - 1 set 8 lbs, 1 set 5 lbs Upright Barbell row - 2 sets @ 20lbs   Chest   Incline dumbbell flys - 2 sets 8 lbs dumbbell bench press - 2 sets 8 lbs   BACK   One are dumbbell row - 2 sets @ 8lbs Lat pull down - 2 sets @ 40 lbs   ABS   Ab crunch machine - 2 sets (15 each set @ 10 lbs) incline sit ups - 2 sets of 25 ab roller machine - 2 sets of 15 ab ball machine - 1 set of 20 (5 lb balls)   Back on the elliptcal to finish up for another 15 min......home by 10:40 and asleep by 11:30   Then, the alarm is off again at 4:50 am this morning and I head to the gym and on the elliptical by 5:20 am, did 40 min of HIIT.   Whew, what a day.......   Going home tonight and watching the finale of the Biggest Loser, then to nighty night!

Well, exercise was great two weeks ago, last week, didn't get it done. But.....I'm back at it this week.   Eating has been great, except had a slip on on Friday night and Saturday night...grrrrrrrrr. But back on track and going strong.   My body really likes the 160's, I seem to hover around 163. I'm ready to get out of the 160's for good and never see them again. SO, in order to do that, I MUST exercise and NO MORE SLIPS!   Todays menu:   WW smoothie shake 1 TBSP on peanut butter 1 cup of Soy Milk   Lunch 3 oz chicken 3 organic lettuce pieces salsa (made lettuce wraps)   Snack Banana Low fat string cheese   Dinner WW meal (pizza - 7 pts)   Exercise - 45 min circuit training   Wt - 163.9

Updating my journal - I seem to be in a total fog these days and just not caring. I do care on one hand, the other I don't, because I keep eating chocolate - sugar!   Last night, I went home, I did good all day, I wasn't even hungry, and ended up eating 2 smores. grrrrrr. Then I set down and watched the Biggest Loser - I have got to get control of this sugar addiction of mine.   Okay - tomorrow - I'm starting the Atkins induction plan - this will help me with my cravings. Yes, I am going to do it. I've got to get my zeal and determination back! I'm so close to goal, but yet so far!

I DID IT!

I did it, I got up this morning at 4:45, was at the gym by 5:05 and exercised for 40 min! I'm so glad I finally got out of bed in the AM. My plans today is to exercise at 3:00 on break (do 20 min on elliptical machine) and do another 45 minutes tonight.   Exercise - AM EXERCISE - 30 min treadmill, 3.2 mph, 3.0 incline, 240 calories and 11 min Elliptical machine, 110 calories - TOTAL AM CALORIES 350   3:00 EXERCISE - Notta   9:00 PM EXERCISE - Notta

1/31/08

This morning, I was up 4 min before the alarm went off! It was cold outside, snow was coming down and I thought about staying in bed. I kept laying there and I finally said to myself "either I go to exercise this morning, or I have to go tonite". I really didn't want to go tonight because the snow will be worse, so I got up, and headed to the gym. I'm so happy I did.   My plan for today:   Exercise - 5:00 am - 20 min HIIT Elliptical, 10 min Recumbant bike   Exercise 2 - 3:00 pm - strength training, arms - biceps, triceps   Menu -   Bfast coffee with cream 1 piece of extra dark chocolate - (52 calories)   Lunch South Beach Frozen dinner - 220 calories   Snack Apple with pnut butter - 140 calories   Dinner Still undecided - but probably fish   Okay - I feel like my attitude is doing great, I feel like I am beating the carb demons and I will succeed. I am not letting my "no restriction" be an excuse any longer. I have to take control.   Since I've been eating smaller portions, I think my band seems to be working better too. Weird, when we use the band as a tool, it does work. Its only when we lean on the band to do everything that it doesn't.   Okay - back to work I go.   PS - I wore my size 8 coat today to work, and it's weird to say, its not even tight today. I know, I know, it could have not happened overnight, but I swear, I feel like I have lost 20 lbs. I Know that I was swollen from water weight, and I just ended TOM, but inches are finally coming off again. I feel so good to be back in conrol!

WL goals

Okay, I know I am trying NOT to focus on the scales as much as focussing on eating better and exercising. Matter of fact, I've avoided the scales I think for 5 days or more now. No desire to touch the scales at this point. However, lets face it, we are all having WLS to lose weight and get a better health.   I think I should weigh around 220 when I go into my surgery. With that being said, I am aiming for 140 to be my goal weight. I will be happy with 150, but 140 is my ultimate goal. From what I have been reading, the average weight loss is 50 to 70 % of your excess body weight. So my excess body weight would be 80 lbs right?   Anyhow, this paper I read stated that the average amount of weight loss is as follows:   6 weeks - 20% (that would be 16 lbs for me) 3 months - 33% (that would be 26 lbs for me) and 1 year out - 67% (that would be 53 lbs for me)   I am really not planning on losing much my first 6 weeks, I hear a lot of people dont.   So, for me, I'm focussing on the 6 months out and 1 year out. My goal is to lose 35% the first six months and 55% the first year - so at my 6 months anniversary (July 18th, 2007) I want to weigh - 188 lbs. My 1 year anniversary (1/18/08) I want to weigh 175 lbs. I will then have an additional 35 lbs to go. I will work on that in 2008.   Are these goals doable for me? I think they are. I will do everything in power to reach these goals this year! If I can exceed the goals I've set for myself the first year, I will be a happy little girl. If I don't meet them and I know I did everything in my power. Then I will know that I am "below" average. Thats okay too. I know I'm a slow loser, so I will take that.   Okay, just had to write some of my thoughts down before I forget them.

Fill #22

Fill #21 worked pretty good, but since I've lost weight, I can tell its a little loose so I decided to tweak it just a bit. Doc only added a little bit and it was perfectly tight again, not too tight, but just right!     Fill #1 - 3/6/07 - 2.2cc's   Fill #2 - 4/17/07 - 3.0cc's   Fill #3 - 7/6/07 - 3.5 cc's (I think it was only 2.5cc's because when I went back for fill #4, he could only w/draw 1.8 cc's)   Fill #4 - 7/20/07 - filled me back to 3.0 ccs - He should have filled me more!   Fill #5 - 8/17/07 - 3.4cc's   Fill #6 - 10/08/07 - filled me to 3.8cc's - the best restriction I've ever had,but still could eat big bites of food, so I figured I needed to be tighter.   Fill #7 - 11/21/07 filled to 4.0 cc's. By the evening could not hold anything down, not even my saliva. PBing all night - horrilble experieince   UNFILL #1 - 11/23/07 - unfilled to somewhere between 2.5 to 3.0 cc's - NO RESTRICTIONS AGAIN :rolleyes2:   Fill #8 - 1/18/08 Went in and the doc filled me back up to just right under 4.0, according to Flouro, it was perfect. Well, by next morning, could not hold down saliva again, ended up back in hospital   UNFILL #2 - 1/19/08 - Doctor had to unfill me to 3.0 again because of the swelling from all the PBing for being too tight. Again, NO RESTRICTION - :confused:   Fill #9 - 2/12/08 - 3.5 cc's - was tight for about a week, now feel lose again. grrrr, still have "some" restriction, just not quite enough! Next fill scheduled for 4/7/08 - I hate that it takes sooooooo long to get in to see the fill doc.   FILL #10 - 4/7/08 The doc just added .4cc's, making me at 3.9cc's. I think this might be the one!   FILL #11 - Was scheduled on 6/25/08 - but the doc did not fill me up, I was leaving for a cruise on 6/27 so he didn't want to risk me being too tight, so did not get a fill.   FILL #11 - 8/5/08 Went for a fill, this time the doc took all my fill out and all he could get out was 2.4 cc's. Filled me up to 4.0 cc's, I left, had to go right back because I could not drink, he took out a little over .2 cc's, he said I'm somewhere between 3.5 to 3.7 cc's. - I had great restriction for 2 weeks, but It has now loosened some. I feel I might need a tad more. I'm worried I have a very slow leak.   UNFILL #3 - 8/5/08 - Took a little over .2 cc's out, had pretty good restriction, but still a tad too lose.   FILL #12 - 9/17/08 - Added just 1/10th of a cc - I think I'm somewhere between 3.8 to 3.9 cc in a 4cc band. I am hoping and praying this is the fill that I stop with! I do not have another appointment for another fill, will wait this one out and see.   Fill #13 - 10/06/08 - Doc added about 2/10's of a cc. He took everything out and put it all back in and said I was about 3.7 to 3.8cc's. - which is where he said I was last time.   FILL #14 - 11/10/08 - Doc took everything out and I had about 3.6cc's, which is pretty good. He then filled me up to just under 4.0cc's I believe I'm about 3.9cc's. I ate some canned peaches and set around the office for a bit, made sure none came back up. Seems to be doing good so far. I hope this is my last fill!   FILL #15 - 08/10/09 - Added about 1/10th of a cc. I think I'm right at 4.0 cc. Wt on the morning of my fill was at 165. But was very bloated from steroids I was on for the previous week.   FILL #16 - 8/31/09 - My last fill lasted 2 weeks then I felt wide open. Went in for another fill, this time he did not take any out and just added 2/10th's of a cc. I think I'm just a little more than 4.1 cc's in a 4.0 cc band. I feel great restriction so far. I'm hoping this last. I'm sick of fills. lol. - I could tell my fill was wide open, I was starving all the time, wt at the time of fill was 170! grrrrrrr   FILL #17 - 10/30/09 - completely drained me, checked for a leak - no leak YAY - added 4.6 cc's - I feel like he didn't add anything, feel wide open! Hungry all the time   FILL #18 - 11/09/09 Doc did barium swallow test - I think he thought I was full of it. He saw what I was talking about and agreed I was way too loose. He added 2.5cc's. I feel restriction again, but not a real tight restriction. I have no idea where I'm at these days and I really don't care anymore how much CC's I have, I just want RESTRICTION!!!!!!   Fill #19 - 11/23/09 - I had a some restriction, but not enough, the doc added 3/10ths of a cc. I feel pretty good, not too tight, which means it probably will get looser. I will ride this fill out and see what happens. Very discouraged at this point.   FILL #20 - 12/28/09 - did not take any fluid out, just added 4/10th's of a cc. Still feel lose, but on the fluro it showed I was tight, so we'll see how it goes.........   FILL #21 - 02/01/10 - Doc did not take any fluid out, added 1/2 a mil then I told him it was still too loose, so he added another 1/10th of a cc. Feel really good right now - but as always we will have to wait and see.   FILL #22 - 5/17/10 - Decided to get just a little tweak, my last fill is still pretty good, but wanted to go just a tad tighter. Doc added just a little, probably 1/10 of a mil.

Fill #22 is perfect but.........

Well had fill #22 exactly 3 weeks ago and it is the sweet spot I have been searchig for over 3 years! I love the restriction, I love everything about the way I eat, however, I noticed acid reflux at night. Lots and lots of acid reflux lately. grrrrrrrrr. I'm waking up choking and coughing and my lungs are feeling like I'm getting pneumonia, I know I don't have that, but thats the way it feels. I know its time to tweak this fill just a little.   I have Barrets Esophagus from years of acid reflux and its very dangerous to have acid reflux once you are diagnoxed with Barrets Esophagus, so my ENT doctor wants me to get just a slight unfil to see if that eases it up.   I am going back today to have the band doc take just 1/10th of a cc out. He only added 2/10ths with my last fill so I'm think 1/10th of a cc taken out might do the trick.   Weight this morning 147.7. Still would like to get to 145 before my cruise - which I have a feeling I will do it with no problem, my cruise is 5 weeks away. :thumbup:   Menu today:   Bfast Coffee/cream strawberry jam (homemade sf) toast   Lunch mini meatloaf with homemade SF barbque sauce I made and a radish salad   Snack orange and strawberry protein drink   Dinner fish & salad
