Updating my journal

I haven't been writing in my journal as often as I should - so I"m also making a goal to start updating it more often.   Exercise - 20 min of HIIT on Elliptical bike - 211 calories, 1.63 miles   Water aerobics at the gym from 6pm to 7 pm - not sure how many calories - but I'm sure I'm buring some   Bfast - coffee w/sf cream   M2 - sf chocolate pudding with a couple of heaping teaspoons of choco protein powder   m3 - Logans steak house, ate 1/3 of a 6 oz sirloin steak, had about 1/3 of the salad and a few bites of the sweet potatoe - passed on the bread!   M4 - 1/2 apple - no skin   m5 - chicken and a small salad

I woke up this morning and noticed my face was so round. Well, I started reading the side effects of my medication that I'm taking and it turns out the big side effect if taken more than 14 days is weight gain! I'm on steroids, and have been on them since 1/17/08. So that explains the weight gain.   Although I haven't made the right food choices, I was a little shocked that I had gained so much, because I never have in the past while not making the right food choices. So, I was a little depressed. Well this weekend I did really good with eating, and still gained another 3 lbs. Then I noticed my face looked distorted this morning. So I started researching the medication I'm on. Well, not only am I takig orally steroid, I'm also putting steroid drops in my eyes, so needless to say, its causing a weight gain. I should be off of it all by the end of this week.   Scale this mornng was really ugly 186.2. I do think once I quit taking the steroids I will start losing.   Okay menu today   Bfast 1 egg 2 slices of turkey bacon   Mid moring cup of coffee w/cream   Lunch salad dressing on side   Dinner ground hamburger salsa   Exercise -

Going strong so far

I didn't weigh this morning, I'm trying not to look at the scale except for 1 x per week. I also didn't get up to exercise, it was raining hard this morning and I just didn't feel like dealing with it.   Menu today   Breakfast weight control oatmeal coffee with cream   lunch taco soup   snack string cheese 1/2 piece of sausage link   dinner sf jello turkey breast

Well, the weekend was a big bust for me. Not sure how many points I went over, but I know that I blew the WW plan on Saturday night. I was doing good until then.   I was released from the doctor on Friday and I decided that Monday (today) I would start the BFL program again. I am going to modify it a little, but for the most part, I will stick to the plan. I set my alarm for 4:45 am to hit the gym, well, I almost didn't go, but finally I forced myself up and headed to the gym. I'm so glad I did!   My menu today:   Bfast - weight wise oatmeal, WW yogurt = 3 pts   Snack a few pistachios - 2 pt   Lunch Green salad with all kinds of vegies, and 3 oz of baked chicken breast - 3 pts Homemade salad dressing with EVO and lemon and vininger - 2 pts FF pudding - 2 pts   Dinner 1 baked potatoe with lean ground beef and side salad - 5 pts   WW dessert - 4 pts   Exercise - :smile: 35 min on elliptical 5:00 am   45 min with strength training UBWO - 11:30 am   Wt - didn't weigh this morning, but will be weighed tonight at the WW meeting. Hopefully I'm down at least 1 lb!

up 1 lb

Well, I decided to step on the scales this morning since its been a week since I weighed and it showed me up 1 lb. I was a little upset, but I figure I was on liquids for so long and finally started mushy foods, maybe my body is just getting used to food now. Not sure why I'm up, but I won't let it get me down.   I feel really good & energetic today. The Ccap machine is doing wonders for my energy. Last night was the first night I was able to sleep with it all night. Usually I wake up because I open my mouth and then it dries my mouth out and I wake up choking. I finally went back to the sleep center and they gave me a chin strap. Well, that still wasn't working, but last night I figured out how to put the chin strap on where it would keep my mouth closed during the evening and I slept so good. I finally woke up around 4:30 am because my nose piece came off and the air was blowing on my cheek. But I get up at 5 am anyhow, so I pretty much slept with it all night.   My menu today looks like the following:   Bfast - 8 oz protein shake   lunch - 1/2 cup cottage cheese   dinner - 1/2 cup of cream of broccoli soup   And my goal is to get 64 oz of water in, do 30 min on treadmill.

23 days until Band Land

Wow, just 23 more days until I'm banded. I still can't believe it and I still freak out from time to time, but getting better.   Eating was just bad this weekend due to the holidays, and poor food choices. I'm back on track this morning, and going to do my best to stick to it until 1/4 when I will begin my liquid diet.   I'm having a weird pain on my right side (where my gall bladder was), I'm not sure what it is, but I think it might be muscle spasms, I had it BEFORE my gall bladder was removed, and now I'm having them again.   I'm hoping with my upper GI they can see something and tell me what it is. I have that on the 4th.   Anyhow, I better get to work, I'm just checking in. I didn't exercise over the weekend, they closed my gym down for the holidays. I'll get back in the grove tonight I think.

20/20 visoin!

I had my lasik done on Thursday, things went real smooth. I went for my 1 day follow up on Friday, and already had 20/20 vision. Very happy so far with my results.   Now the bad news, I also had a fill scheduled on Friday, so, as you recall, I've been at almost no restriction since November. So anyhow, go in for my fill, again, I get filled up to 4.0 cc's, I should have known better because this is where he filled me last time and I ended up in the hospital. But, I felt good restriction, I could only sip on my water, but I felt thats what I should only be able to do. I actually said, maybe I should get a little out, but then I said, well, let me go eat lunch and if I have trouble I'll come back. So, off to lunch I go, has soft foods, and everything went fine. Well, that evening we went out to dinner, I had soup, and I could tell I was having a hard time with it, one ate about 2 tBLS. I woke up in the middle of the night coughing and choking, and by Saturday, I could not hold down my saliva. Back to the hospital I go and the dr. had to come and take fluid out, now I'm right back where I was in November, with no restriction again.   This sucks! I am so frustrated. I just called the office to schedule another fill and waiting on the hospital to call me back. The next fill, I will not let him fill me to 4.0 no matter what. This is twice I've been filled to that and it just make me swell too much. 3.8 is not enough restriction and 4.0 is way too much. So, I'm going to ask for 3.8 1/2.   I've decided I cannot wait on the fill, I just have to diet until then. So I've prepared my foods and I will take an appetite suppresant until then. I'm so frustrated trying to ge my fill right, I'm about ready to give up. I don't know if I will ever find the sweet spot, I do know I don't eat as much as I used to, so I'm happy about that.   Menu today:   bfast egg white omlet with turkey sausage   Lunch tuna salad with light mayo   Dinner baked chicken   snack SF jello

4 days until band land

Today marks 4 more days until my banding. :clap2: I had to start the liquid diet today, and I must say, I have failed. I've tried to be good, I really have. But I'm so hungry! I've got to do better at this!   1 cup of broth slim fast lc shake 1 choco chip cookie bite of pizza sf jello applie juice 1 cup of broth Nectar Protein shake Bite of garlic bread :embarassed:   IVE GOT TO DO BETTER! What the heck is wrong with me? I could kick myself!   I received a call from my docs off on Friday. My surgery time is 1:00 and I have to be at the hospital at 11:00 am. I'm not sure if I will have to spend the night at the hospital or not since my surgery is so late in the afternoon. I was hoping it would be earlier in the day since I can't have ANYTHING to eat and they are making me wait until 1:00 freaking o'clock. The losers!

I am now more convinced that the steroids are making me Gain!

Yes, I ate so good yesterday, I worked out, I drank my water, and I was expecting to see the scales go down. Well, WRONG. They went up antoher 2 lbs! What the Heck? I am now more convinced than ever it has to be the steroids I'm taking making me gain.:party::eek::frown::mad:   I have put on more than 15 lbs in the past month. I've been taking them for 6 weeks now and this is my last week, thank gawd!   I hope the weight falls off as quickly as it has come on.   Besides the steroids, my fill level is not right, my life seems so out of control lately and I'm not dealing with it very well. Wonder if the steroids are making me moody too?   Okay, I'm going to sign off and try and think positive!:tt2:   Wt - 188.2

I'm going strong with my 5:00 am exercise routine.   Oh how I wanted to NOT get up this morning, matter of fact, I told myself when the alarm went off that I would go ahead and take today "off". I was trying to talk myself out of getting up. As I lay there, trying to go back to sleep, I realized, I was awake and could not go back to sleep.   I drug myself out of bed, jumped into my exercise clothes and headed to the gym. I did 35 min on the elliptical machine. The only bad thing is my knee is burning burning burning. I can feel it grind with each downstroke on the elliptical, not good. I may be over doing it a bit. I've been hitting the gym both 5 am and 8 pm.   I did not weight this morning, I'm trying to hold of until either Friday or Monday. I am hoping the next time I weigh I am in the 160's.   I was soooo hungry this morning too, so I call IHOP and ordered an egg white omlet, I picked it up on my way to work, it was good, but I could only eat about 1/3 of it. Saving the rest for bfast tomorrow.   I'm off to work...........

I may be too tight

I'm having a hard time sipping water, I'm drinking some warm coffee right now.....I'm worried I may be too tight. If I don't loosen up in the next day or two, I'm going back for a slight unfill. At this point, I don't see how I could eat anything because I'm so tight. I don't want to have PB problems.

12/3/09 - I'm doing it!

I'm doing it, I'm sticking to my plan, I'm exercising, I'm eating right, and I'm staying off the scales!   Yesterdays menu:   8:00 am - Protein shake made with skim milk and organic peanut butter (290) calories   11:30 am - baby carrots and 1/4 cup of hummus and steamed broccoli = (270 calories)   2:30 - apple with 1 oz of almonds = (235 calories)   6:15 pm - 3.8 oz of griled chicken, 1/2 breaded chicken strip with 1 TBSP of gravy (I made this for my family and I just had to taste it since they were going on and on about how good it was), steamed broccoli = (250 calories)   TOTAL cal for the day 1045 by my calculations, then I put it into fitday.com and below is what it tells me.     Calories 1,068 Fat 37% Carbohydrate 31% Protein 87.9G = 32%     Exercise = 30 min on elliptical HIIT strength trained - biceps triceps shoulders chest back abs Back on the elliptical for another 30 min cardio burn!   TOTAL TIME AT THE GYM - 1 hr 50 min, 1 hour of cardio and 50 minutes strength training.   And, I've got to pat myself on the back, I was up and at 'em this morning at 5am. I was on the elliptical by 5:15 am! Today is my cardio only day.

3/2/07 menu

One thing I want to do in my journal is be COMPLETELY honest about what I eat, even if its bad. I just want to be able to look back on my journal and say, oooo thats why I didn't lose, or wow, I did great - so here goes my menu for today:   Breakfast - cottage cheese mixed with 1/2 container of LC yogurt   Lunch - Ham chef salad - ranch dressing on the side. Salad had about 340 calories, dressing had 75 cals. I ate all my salad, but it was a small side type salad that had ham on it.   snack - string cheese   Dinner - Oh boy.....we went out to eat at this Amish buffet - need I say more? Okay, I'll try and list what I ate - 2 1/2 small pieces of FRIED catfish dipped in taurter sauce, about 3 bites of a meatloaf (very good) about 4 bites of salad, a bite of green beans, 2 bites of sour krout, two sips of water, a bite of chocolate cake, two bites of peanut butter pie, a bite of my DH's coconut cream pe - so basically 4 bites of sweats (pies/cakes), not too bad, but not that great. In the past I would have eaten 4 pieces of pies. I again, ate a bit too much, but not miserable, just full.   Water - 50 oz   Exercise - 20 min Elliptical machine (HIIT)   Supplements - 2 thermo Dynamx before breakfast, 1 multi vitamin, B-12. 2 more thermo dynamx before lunch   Notes - I wanted to add another thing to my journal about my binge last night. Although yes, it was a binge - 8 cookies is not a little snack, it was a binge, I learned something. I learned that in the past, after one of my usual binges, I would wait an hour or so, then go back for more. I did not do that last night. My tool helped me STOP the binge. I usually will go on a binge for DAYS. Once I have a binge, there is no stopping me, however, my tool did stop me. I was miserable last night, and today I am still thinking I do not want to feel that way again. So, my tool did help me.   As punishmet, I decided I would step on the scales to show myself what the binge did to me. I was quite surprised to see I had lost another pound. So, I was happy that the binge did not make me go up in weight.

Happy 3 mo. Band Anniversary to me!

Today makes 3 mos since I was joined together with my Band! The super fast weight loss has stopped:phanvan , but I know I will continue to go down, and I'm happy so far. No problems (except this last fill might be too tight). Below are my stats -   Beginning Weight = 248 1 mo post op - 206.8 2 mo post op - 198 3 mo post op - 193   Total lost = 55 lbs   My measurements:   Before /1 month out/ 2 months out/3 mos Waist - 41 1/2" / 38" / 36 /36 Hips - 51" / 46 1/2 / 45"/44" Left Thigh - 28" / 26 1/4"/ 24"/23 1/2 calves - 17" / 15 1/2"/ 15 /16 left arm - 15 1/2" / 14" / 13/13 breast - 43" / 40"/ 39/38 1/2 under breast - 37"/36 1/2" / 36"/36 TOTAL INCHES LOST= 26 inches Notes - although last month was not a huge loss in inches and weight, I feel like I have accomplished a lot. I learned that I don't have to eat to deal with my stress or other emotions. Also, for about 2 weeks out of the month, I didn't even try to lose weight, I was busy with a remodeling project, ate junk food for dinner every night, and no exercise. So, for me not to GAIN during that time is a great accomplishments. In the past if I didn't try to lose weight, I would always gain like 15 lbs. So I feel like I have reason to be happy, even with a 5 lbs loss for a month and only 2" loss for the month. I know next month there will be a big difference so I'm excited to see what will happen during my 4 month anniversary!   My goals for month 4 -   Start the BFL challenge Get out of the 190's take my vitamins every day stay focussed and not miss any workouts

Breakfast - coffee with cream   Lunch - 2 bites of cottage cheese, 1 boiled egg smashed with a little mayo   Dinner - 1/4 cup refried beans - very low on energy and drank a light Frapp from starbuchs (I need to get away from these, very addictive but so good)   Exercise - 3:30 pm - 30 min on treadmill, 4% incline, 3.2 & 3.3 mph, 249 calories, 1.61 distance   Notes - I am going to get out of the 190's, staying focussed on that. I think I have to learn to eat all over again. Up until now, I've been able to take regular bites of no problems, been able to drink big gulps of water, no problem. This has all changed! No more steak for me, at least for now.

Back to the gym - FINALLY

Well, yesterday was my first trip back to the gym since July! I haven't been able to make it to the gym since my surgery. My physical therapist put me on a bicycle to get my movement back in my knees, so I headed to the gym and did 15 min on the recumbant bike. I did work up a little sweat, but not much.   I could not go that fast, but I'm just happy that I did it. I go to therapy today and they will put me on the bike there, and do leg lifts with ankle weights so I'll get a little exercise today too.   I'm taking baby steps, trying to get back into the exercise game. It's going to be awhile before I can start lifting weights again with my legs, but at this point, I will be happy to be able to get on a treadmill again...   Weight this morning 175.1. The fill is working, I got full after about 4 bites of weight control oatmeal.

3 days until banding!

OMG - 3 more days....its finally getting here! Its really going to happen!   I'm on my all clear liquids - and totally forgot it is CLEAR liquids, I had a cup of coffee this morning, I added a scoop of vanilla protein powder to it, it was pretty good. :hungry: I'm still hungry, the the hungry is starting to go away and it is getting a little easier.   I am in the middle of an ice storm here in Oklahoma, but it is finally moving out, so hopefully that doesn't mess my surgery date up.   Menu today   1 cup of coffee - scoop of vanilla protein powder (should not be drinking coffee) 1 cup of beef broth chocolate protein shake SF lime jello 1 sf pinapple popsicle protein shake - Slim Fast LC Nectar shake 1 piece of fish bite of chips & salsa 1 cup of chicken broth   I can't seem to get enough to make me not hungry with the liquids

Well, weight is up (172.0). I didn't make good choices over the weekend. I just ate whatever.   Okay, today is a new day, it's Monday, and I'm doing my fast/Cleanse. I will not cheat and I will get thru today!   I'm feeling so bloated today, probably because I ate a lot of junk, salty stuff this weekend. grrrrrr.   I laid my stuff out this morning to get up at EXERCISE. Did I? Heck no, the alarm went off, I turned it off and rolled back over. I'm so made at myself. I will go tonight for sure! I will go tonight, I will go tonight, I will, I will, I will!

Fill #15 - This could be the one!

I went for "hopefully" my very last fill yesterday. The doctor added about 2/10th of a cc and it was a bit much, so he withdrew (he said less then 1/10th). I really don't know what I have in my band, but I think right at 4cc's in a 4cc band. I am on liquids/soft foods for three days. I'm hoping this is the fill that gets me to goal. Only 15 pounds until goal - I'm so close I can smell - taste - and see the goal in sight! Below is my fill history.   Fill #1 - 3/6/07 - 2.2cc's   Fill #2 - 4/17/07 - 3.0cc's   Fill #3 - 7/6/07 - 3.5 cc's (I think it was only 2.5cc's because when I went back for fill #4, he could only w/draw 1.8 cc's)   Fill #4 - 7/20/07 - filled me back to 3.0 ccs - He should have filled me more!   Fill #5 - 8/17/07 - 3.4cc's   Fill #6 - 10/08/07 - filled me to 3.8cc's - the best restriction I've ever had,but still could eat big bites of food, so I figured I needed to be tighter.   Fill #7 - 11/21/07 filled to 4.0 cc's. By the evening could not hold anything down, not even my saliva. PBing all night - horrilble experieince   UNFILL #1 - 11/23/07 - unfilled to somewhere between 2.5 to 3.0 cc's - NO RESTRICTIONS AGAIN   Fill #8 - 1/18/08 Went in and the doc filled me back up to just right under 4.0, according to Flouro, it was perfect. Well, by next morning, could not hold down saliva again, ended up back in hospital   UNFILL #2 - 1/19/08 - Doctor had to unfill me to 3.0 again because of the swelling from all the PBing for being too tight. Again, NO RESTRICTION - :thumbdown:   Fill #9 - 2/12/08 - 3.5 cc's - was tight for about a week, now feel lose again. grrrr, still have "some" restriction, just not quite enough! Next fill scheduled for 4/7/08 - I hate that it takes sooooooo long to get in to see the fill doc.   FILL #10 - 4/7/08 The doc just added .4cc's, making me at 3.9cc's. I think this might be the one!   FILL #11 - Was scheduled on 6/25/08 - but the doc did not fill me up, I was leaving for a cruise on 6/27 so he didn't want to risk me being too tight, so did not get a fill.   FILL #11 - 8/5/08 Went for a fill, this time the doc took all my fill out and all he could get out was 2.4 cc's. Filled me up to 4.0 cc's, I left, had to go right back because I could not drink, he took out a little over .2 cc's, he said I'm somewhere between 3.5 to 3.7 cc's. - I had great restriction for 2 weeks, but It has now loosened some. I feel I might need a tad more. I'm worried I have a very slow leak.   UNFILL #3 - 8/5/08 - Took a little over .2 cc's out, had pretty good restriction, but still a tad too lose.   FILL #12 - 9/17/08 - Added just 1/10th of a cc - I think I'm somewhere between 3.8 to 3.9 cc in a 4cc band. I am hoping and praying this is the fill that I stop with! I do not have another appointment for another fill, will wait this one out and see.   Fill #13 - 10/06/08 - Doc added about 2/10's of a cc. He took everything out and put it all back in and said I was about 3.7 to 3.8cc's. - which is where he said I was last time.   FILL #14 - 11/10/08 - Doc took everything out and I had about 3.6cc's, which is pretty good. He then filled me up to just under 4.0cc's I believe I'm about 3.9cc's. I ate some canned peaches and set around the office for a bit, made sure none came back up. Seems to be doing good so far. I hope this is my last fill! FILL #15 - 08/10/09 - Added about 1/10th of a cc. I think I'm right at 4.0 cc. Wt on the morning of my fill was at 165. But was very bloated from steroids I was on for the previous week.

12/21/09

Just updating my blog. I weighed on 12/11 and lost 5 lbs, weighed in at 168. I am not weighing again until 1/1/10. I still have not measured again, but will do that on my next weigh in.   I'm on my 4th week of my exercise plan. I was up at 4:45 am this morning, and let me tell you, its still not easy to get up and get to the gym. But I've got a buddy and I don't want to let her down, so I'm a firm believer in the buddy system!   Eating has been GREAT! I have been doing very good, lots of fish and chicken. I've had a few days that I splurged, but they were planned splurges, so I don't feel guilty.   Will check back later...............

I'm losing ........

I weighed this morning, yes I know, I said I wasn't going to, but I felt thinner so I thought I would hop on the scales. I was shocked when it said 229.6, I was 234 3 days ago.   I think I will reach my goal of weighing 215 by my surgery date.

Okay - didn't make it to the gym.....too much going on last night. I will say, last night was a beneficial meeting and I think we can progress form here.   I plan on going to the gym tonight, ABSOLUTELY NO exceptions!!!!   I stepped on the scale this morning and saw another drop so I was quite pleased by that.   Menu today:   Weight Wise Oatmeal   snack a few pretzles TBSP hummus   Lunch Slice of my Low Fat Meatloaf green beans   Snack Low Carb yogurt a handfull of granola thrown in   Dinner grilled talapia baby spinach   WT - 163.8

5/4/10

Menu today   Bfast coffee with 1TBSP coconut milk, 10 drops fo capella flavor drops (vanilla custard) 1/2 grapefruit with stevia and cinnamon, 1 Wheat melba toast   Lunch chicken baked and stuffed with spinach and sugar free/fat free marinara sauce over it. Yum.   Snack 1 apple sliced and peeled with 1/2 lemon squeezed over it   Dinner Chili made with extra lean beef, 1 melba toast and extra onions over the top, 1 sliced tomatoe with salt & pepper   Exercise - still too sore from working in my garden over the weekend. whew, can barely sit on the toilet without screaming out in pain. I'm getting to old for this, lol.

Breakfast - Coffee/cream   lunch - 3 whole wheat crakers with soft cheese and turkey salad spread on them.   dinner - 3 bites of roast, small small bites - then was bad - 4 or maybe 6 girl scout cookies - then I threw the rest away.   Exercise - None, DH had surgery and had to take care of him   Wt - 192.8
