26 days post op

I'm loving the new tool. I do have a few concerns, I'm not eating much, I'm struggling to get my protein in, and working hard on drinking enough water - its tough!   I just cannot eat more without getting sick! This morning, I made an 8 oz protein shake, could only drink 1/2 - I was about to vomit even thinking about drinking more - protein taken in about 10!   My menu yesterday -   Bfast 1 fried egg with cheese - ate about 3/4 lunch 1/2 cup of cottage cheese dinner 1/2 cup of refried beans (these seem to work best for me)   Exercise needs to pick up for me. I've been slacking on my walking.   My goals for the rest of the week 1) Focus on getting my water in 2) Increase my walking - make it a priority 3) Work on my protein!   PS - another NSV - good-bye to my size 18's forever, they are just too big now, and hello to my comfortable 16's! I am wearing a pair of 16 jeans today that look darn good on me, I feel very slim & sexy in them. I haven't worn them in a while - probably 2 years? DH also can't keep his hands off me either, he keeps telling me how good I look. I love the new me! My kids keep telling us "get a room" LOL.

23 days until Band Land

Wow, just 23 more days until I'm banded. I still can't believe it and I still freak out from time to time, but getting better.   Eating was just bad this weekend due to the holidays, and poor food choices. I'm back on track this morning, and going to do my best to stick to it until 1/4 when I will begin my liquid diet.   I'm having a weird pain on my right side (where my gall bladder was), I'm not sure what it is, but I think it might be muscle spasms, I had it BEFORE my gall bladder was removed, and now I'm having them again.   I'm hoping with my upper GI they can see something and tell me what it is. I have that on the 4th.   Anyhow, I better get to work, I'm just checking in. I didn't exercise over the weekend, they closed my gym down for the holidays. I'll get back in the grove tonight I think.

22 days until band land

Just 22 more LOOOONG days until I'm finally banded.   My thoughts are racing around in my head. I'm freaking a bit today, I'm nervous, and I am so anxious to get this over with. I'm ready to start my pre-op diet, this way I know I am doing something to prepare for surgery.   I've been reading a lot on the "complications" board, and I have to be honest, It freaks me out a bit. I think the most thing I worry about is erosion. I read on one of the boards that 25% of banding patients will have to have thier band replaced or removed. Thats a pretty high number. But, i guess I'm hoping I'm the 75% that wont have to have anything done.   I'm just nervous about everything, I think the not knowing is scary. I know a lot about the band, but everyone is different, how will I handle th band? Will I be an accessive PBer? Will I not lose weight? Will I be a failure? Will I , Will I , will I? The list goes on and on. I just don't want this surgery to be another "diet" attempt. I am so sick of failing at every diet. I always do so good, I lose 20, 30, and even 70 lbs, and everyone goes on and on how great I look, then its like I wake up one morning and gain it ALL back. Why? I still haven't figured that out. Its like I eat one thing and I put on 20 lbs. I swear, I can gain 10 lbs in a night, and I'm NOT lieing. I've done it, I swear it.   I hope this time next year, I can reflect on my journey and say this was the BEST decision I had ever made. I hope to say I have lost 70 lbs, or 60, or even 50.   Scale this morning 229.2 (I'm about to throw the scale away, I promise.)

21 days until banding

   21 days and counting! Yes, just three weeks to go until my new life begins.   The holidays are helping make the time pass, and beginning next week, I will begin all my appointments, so that will help.   I made it to the gym last night. Did 20 minutes on the Elliptical, and then 10 minutes on the bike.:clap2:   Eating has been good, now that the holidays are over. We do have a dinner to attend tonight, and they are making hamburgers on the grill, so I'll eat the meat, not bread. I think I will make some grilled veggies to go with meat - that will be my side dish.

2009 goals

I don't believe in resolutions, however, I do believe in setting some goals, writing them down and setting a plan in action to reach those goals. I don't believe you have to only do them in Janaury, however, I usually set goals ever month.   I decided to set a yearly goal, and assess where I am every 2 or 3 months. This way it will keep on track to reaching my goals. I'm only going to list a few of them on this blog, the ones that have to do with my band.   1. Lose my final 30 lbs this year. I will do this in 2009. I need to plan my meals better and get back to the band rules. Proteins first!   2. Exercise will become a big part of my life in 2009. I have a membership, time to start using it more than I do!

2008 is going to be great!

2008 is going to be great, this is the last year of my life that I will every say "this year, I'm going to lose weight". I WILL hit my goal this year, I am sure of it! I am determined to make it to my goal this year and nothing is going to stop me, not even the chocolate that call my name all the time. lol.   I went yesterday for a "free" consultation with a smart lipo doctor. Man, I really want the smart lipo done so bad. The cost for total body would be $9800. This would be for every inch of my body. I am wanting it done so badly! I am just waiting on my 401K to be unfrozen due to a merger with our company and another, then I am thinking about doing a 401K loan. I'm hoping to have it done in April!   I also went in for my lasik surgery consultation, I am scheduled to have lasik on 1/17/08. I can't wait to be rid of contacts and glasses forever. I might still need reading glasses, but at least I will be able to wake up in the middle of the night and see the bathroom. lol.   I've always heard that the 40's are the greatest years and I am starting to believe it. I hated my 30's, I was overweight, I was depressed, I was just misserable. I am now 41 and I am feeling so good about myself, my looks, and my life. I am enjoying my 40's. My kids are now 15 & 17, it won't be long until they are grown complelely and off on their own. DH & I are madly in love, so we will enjoy the alone time, and we plan on taking a lot of trips and just having fun.   Menu today:   Bfast coffee/cream   lunch salad   dinner chili   suppliements - quickslim30, vitamins

20/20 visoin!

I had my lasik done on Thursday, things went real smooth. I went for my 1 day follow up on Friday, and already had 20/20 vision. Very happy so far with my results.   Now the bad news, I also had a fill scheduled on Friday, so, as you recall, I've been at almost no restriction since November. So anyhow, go in for my fill, again, I get filled up to 4.0 cc's, I should have known better because this is where he filled me last time and I ended up in the hospital. But, I felt good restriction, I could only sip on my water, but I felt thats what I should only be able to do. I actually said, maybe I should get a little out, but then I said, well, let me go eat lunch and if I have trouble I'll come back. So, off to lunch I go, has soft foods, and everything went fine. Well, that evening we went out to dinner, I had soup, and I could tell I was having a hard time with it, one ate about 2 tBLS. I woke up in the middle of the night coughing and choking, and by Saturday, I could not hold down my saliva. Back to the hospital I go and the dr. had to come and take fluid out, now I'm right back where I was in November, with no restriction again.   This sucks! I am so frustrated. I just called the office to schedule another fill and waiting on the hospital to call me back. The next fill, I will not let him fill me to 4.0 no matter what. This is twice I've been filled to that and it just make me swell too much. 3.8 is not enough restriction and 4.0 is way too much. So, I'm going to ask for 3.8 1/2.   I've decided I cannot wait on the fill, I just have to diet until then. So I've prepared my foods and I will take an appetite suppresant until then. I'm so frustrated trying to ge my fill right, I'm about ready to give up. I don't know if I will ever find the sweet spot, I do know I don't eat as much as I used to, so I'm happy about that.   Menu today:   bfast egg white omlet with turkey sausage   Lunch tuna salad with light mayo   Dinner baked chicken   snack SF jello

20 days until Banding!

Wow, 20 more days! I can't believe it. Next week, I'll be in the teens!   I'm enjoying a diet coke this morning. I know I won't be able to have it after surgery, and I have pretty much given them up. But this morning, I wanted the "last diet coke". I guess you could call it my farewell drink. I am enjoying every sip of this coke. Its a strong, cold drink, I love it! I drink it and my eyes even water. Man, its good this morning.   Eating has been pretty good. Last night we were at my sister in laws for dinner, I did really good, No bread on the meat....EXCEPT, she brings out the dessert.   I ended up having 2 tiny choco chip cookies, then a spoonful of this chocolate pudding dish she made. In the past I would have eaten 5 or 6 cookies, and a big bowl of the pudding. So, I think I did okay.

No gym for the past few days, my knee is swollen and hot, so I'm back to icing it down. grrrrrr. I'm sick of my knee problems!   Eating was great last week, this week not so good. Eating too much salt! Had Mexican yesterday and couldn't finish it all, but still, not good and high fat.   So, trying to stay focussed today and back to the grind!   I go next Tueday for another fill, hoping to get it right this time.

I'm recovering from my surgery nicely. Still tired but not as sore. I've been eating pretty good but not losing. I've started keeping a food journal to see how many calories I am eating, I could be eating too much without realizing it. I still cant exercise, but hoping to when my 6 weeks recovery time is up. I will check with my doc at my follow up appt. From everything I've read, 6 weeks recovery time is needed after a hysterectomy. wt 170.7

2/28/10

Well, I started a controversial diet on 2/16 and so far it has been going good. I have read lots of negative stuff about it, mainly from doctors. I am always surprised at the comments from readers which are all positive, they had all done the diet and quite please with it, so I decided to try Dr. Simeons HCG Protocal. I did something similar to it back in the 80's but it wasn't quit the same.   I am down to my last 20 lbs to lose and I'm finding it very hard with just the band. So I decided to do the HCG diet which is pretty strict and so far I have not cheated one time. I've followed it to the T and am down about 13 pounds (This is about the weight that I've gained thru the winter so no need to get too excited)   Day 1 - loading days 178.2 Day 2 - 178.5 (another loading day) Day 3 - First day of VLCD 179.8 Day 4 - 176.2 Day 5 - 175.6 Day 6 - 173.4 Day 7 - 172.4 Day 8 - 171.1 Day 9 - 168.9 Day 10 - 168.9 Day 11 - 168.8 Day 12 - 169.0 Day 13 - 168.2 Day 14 - 167.6 Day 15 - 166.9 (total 12.9 pounds)   I have about 25 more days to go. My goal is to lose a total of 25, but its slowing down, so I will be happy with a loss of 20.   Its amazing how little hunger I have. With the band and the HCG, it seems to control the hunger. I'm proud of my will power too. I have stayed on the protocol and have not strayed at all. I've become creative with my snacking too.   Today I made "apple chips". Sliced a green apple up (peeled it first) and sliced it very thin, sprinkled stevia on the slices and cinnamon and baked in oven and made the apple chips. They are great for snacking and I can have a few thru out the day. I get 2 fruits a day. It also helps with my "sweet tooth".   Well, thats whats been going on in my life lately. I will post more in my journal.   PS - I would appreciate no negative comments, I was reluctant to post this however, I am keeping this blog for my future reference and have kept it updated from the very beginning of my research with Lap band, therefore, I decided to detail the HCG in my blog.   Thanks!

Wt 180.3 - its going down!!!!! I'm drinking my water!!!!   I was in a lot of pain yesterday, and turns out a I have a bladder infection, so I need to keep drinking my water. I hate getting old, I swear, I feel like my body is falling apart. My back hurts so bad, my kneck, my knee, grrrrrr. I want to have the energy I used to have. It wears me out just to clean my house anymore. I know the more weight I lose, the better I will feel. That should motivate me to continue my journey.   Menu today   Bfast 2 boiled eggs, 2 thin bacons with mustard & mayo mixed in together. Made a bacon/egg salad. good   Mid-morning coffee w/cream   Lunch tuna - mustard celery stick   Dinner grilled

A lady from work also commented yesterday at how much weight I am still losing. I know the scale is not a measure of my success. I am happy with my progress and I know the scale will start moving again. I'm trying to focus on doing cardio morning & night and I am going to ask my doctor tomorrow if I can start weight training. I'm ready to kick some major butt and get into shape! I want to have some maximum results by this summer! I want to be down another 30 lbs or more by vacation time (cruise in August).

2/26/09

Well, I am doing pretty good now on the WW plan. I think the band and the ww plan go hand in hand. I am eating bandster size portions pretty much and eating healthy food. Going to the WW meetings is keeping me accountable. Its something that I need right now, and Its working for me.   I did lose 3.6 lbs according to the ww scales. Now, I do weigh with clothes on at the WW meeting, but at home, I weigh naked and first thing in the morning, so I'm always lower at home than at the meetings.   But according to the WW scales on Monday night, I weighed 172. I'm still up .4 lbs since joining WW. However, this week is the turning point! I can tell I'm starting to shrink and by my scales this morning, I've lost another 2 lbs! Yay.   I did go exercise last night, and I go to the doc tomorrow and hopefully I will get released to get back to exercising. I just got on the elliptical machine last night and took it easy for about 35 min. I'm ready to strength train and really work out hard, but I have been holding off until my 6 week post op check up. I don't want to cause any problems, and I've talked to too many woman who have had the hysterectomy who tell me to LISTEN to the doc, so I'm following their advice.   Anyhow, I'm doing good with the WW plan and so far enjoying it and hopeing it helps me lose the last 20 freaken pounds!   Wt this morning 167.5   Exercise - plan on hitting the gym for another 30 to 40 minutes tonight:thumbup:

2/25/08

I woke up this morning and noticed my face was so round. Well, I started reading the side effects of my medication that I'm taking and it turns out the big side effect if taken more than 14 days is weight gain! I'm on steroids, and have been on them since 1/17/08. So that explains the weight gain.   Although I haven't made the right food choices, I was a little shocked that I had gained so much, because I never have in the past while not making the right food choices. So, I was a little depressed. Well this weekend I did really good with eating, and still gained another 3 lbs. Then I noticed my face looked distorted this morning. So I started researching the medication I'm on. Well, not only am I takig orally steroid, I'm also putting steroid drops in my eyes, so needless to say, its causing a weight gain. I should be off of it all by the end of this week.   Scale this mornng was really ugly 186.2. I do think once I quit taking the steroids I will start losing.   Okay menu today   Bfast 1 egg 2 slices of turkey bacon   Mid moring cup of coffee w/cream   Lunch salad dressing on side   Dinner ground hamburger salsa   Exercise -

2/23/09

I go to the weight watchers meeting again tonight. I'm switching my meeting nights to Monday. I am going to kick the leader if she tells me I've gained! I swear, they might arrest me if she says I've gained!   By my sclaes, I've lost 3 lbs. So we'll see what they say tonight.   I always weight naked, and after I go pee i the mornings, so I'm at my very lowest weight.   I've stuck to the weight watchers plan pretty good. I've actually stuck to it perfectly, so we'll see how I do tonight.   I'm trying to get back into my morning workout routines this week. So far, I've failed. I set my alarm for 4:45 am, and then I turned it off. grrrr. I will keep trying. I plan on going to the gym tonight and doing 30 minutes on the treadmill. I've got to get back to exercise and I've got to get out of the 170's damn it. I've been in the 170's for a freaken year! I drop down to the 160's then creep right back up to the 170's and I'm sick of it! I don't ever ever ever want to see the 170's again.   Okay, I've had my Monday morning rant, so I will start thinking and typing more positive or it will just put me in a pissy mood the rest of the day.   I get 22 points a day with Weight Watchers and they say I must eat the 22 points. I think it might be too much, but I'm going to do it their way. Gawd only knows that my way hasn't worked. (okay, enougth with the negative talk)   My menu today   Weight wise oatmeal - makde with skim milk - 4 points   1 banana - 2 points   Lunch - ww meal 5 points (smart ones) 1 nectarine - 1 point   Dinner 2 0z of roast beef - 3 points 1/2 cup mashed potatoes w/1 tsp butter - 3 points 2 tsp EVO - 2 points baby carrots - 0 points   late nite snack ww ice cream bar - 2 points   TOTAL POINTS FOR THE DAY = 22   Wt - 171.4   Exercise plans - 30 min at gym on treadmill

Wt 183.2   At least it is going down! Back hurts today, still bloated and cranky and just feel like poo poo.   Did good last night, made baked fish and it was really good. Having it again for lunch today, I served it over wilted spinach leaves. yum.   Need to up my water intake!

2/21/07 menu

Bfast - 3/4 container of SF Yogurt with some granola   snack - 15 almonds   Lunch - 4 wholewheat crackers and somewhere between 1/4 & 1/2 cup of hummus dip   Dinner   Exercise - 15 min on treadmill durring break 3.0 mph, 109 cal, 3% incline, .74 miles -   Water -   Supplements - 1 viactiv multi-Vitamin, 1 liquid B-12   Notes - I went to my regular physician today, I broke the news to her that I had the Lap-Band, I was happy she was supportive and she told me she is thinking about having it done. She looked at my chart and said we show you gained 11 lbs, but then she saw the date of my last visit (over a year ago), I explained to her that I always yo-yod and on my last visit to her I weighed 200 lbs, that was May of 2006, By November 2006 I was up to 248 lbs. Anyhow, I had the Prealbumin (Malabsorption test) done, I won't know the results until Friday, and I will pick them up to take them to my surgeon and discuss a fill on March 1st. I should not have the Malabsorption test since I did not have Bypass, however, my surgeon requires it with all his patients, even lap-band.   Sad note, my great aunt who is 87 years old is dying. She has never been married nor does she have any kids. Matter of fact, she has never even been on a date. So, needless to say, we are her kids/grandkids. So, we've been taking turns to be by her side during the time of passing. Hospice has been called in and they will stop giving her fluids beginning tomorrow, only pain meds under her tongue to help with the pain and keep her comfortable. Anyhow, I know there will be lots of food from the church, family & friends, so I'm trying to get prepared and not cave in to all the goodies. Stressful times and grief always makes me want to eat, I turn to food so I'm working on not turning to food during this time.

Bfast - 6 oz protein shake made with skim milk   Lunch - had 2 chips with a little queso on it, had a taco salad about 1/4 of it made with fahitta chicken and had about 1/2 cup of quacomole on it. Did not eat it all, brought the majority of it home. DH will eat it tonight   Snack - Low Carb Yogurt with 2 tsp of granola mixed in (9 grms of protein)   Dinner - 7 low fat wheat thins with hummus (too many)   snack - about 4 pieces thru the day of Dove SF chocolate - too many   Exercise - NONE, I'm so mad at myself   Water - about 45 oz - grrrr, I must get to 64 oz.   Supplements - 1 Viactiv multi-Vitamin, Liquid B-12 complex   Notes - Not really a good day today, I felt more hungry than previous days. I think I'm losing my restriction. I dealt with head hunger too. I was constantly looking for something to put in my mouth and I really had to watch myself. I am at the end of TOM, so not sure if that had anything to do with it. For the heck of it, I stepped on the scales (which I said I wasn't going to do) and I'm up 2 lbs (208.2). I'm not really worried about it, I figured my weight would go up some eating solid foods again, I hope it starts going back down soon. I am mad at myself for not getting out of bed this AM to exercise. Thats what I am focussed on this week - I want to get back into the habit of exercising, and it is so hard!
