3/23/09 - I'm Doing It!

Okay, I'm doing it. No more excuses is working. I've been to the gym 6 times!   3/18 - cardio 3/19 - cardio 3/20 - cardio and strength training 3/21 - 1hr and 15 min doing 40 min of cardio and the rest strength training 3/22 - 35 min on recumbant bike 3/23 - Have only done 15 min so far of cardio, but plan on doing another 30 min before I leave work, then hitting the gym tonight!   Eating has been right on! I had a bad night Tuesday (overdosed on girl scout cookies), but since then, I've done GREAT!   Tonight is weigh in at Weight Watchers so we'll see how I've done! My scales show I'm down, but who knows what I will weigh wearing jeans and a sweater like I am today. I wish they had private rooms where I could just strip down naked - that always makes me go down a few pounds. :thumbup:   I started tanning on Friday, got to get me a little color before my Cancun trip next month, I'm so white and pale looking. Got me a new haircut on Friday, cut about 3" off and I feel so much better, the hair looks so much healthier. Got my nails done on Friday too, I had a me day!   My menu today:   Bfast 1 cup of Fiber One Cereal - 3 pts 1 cup of skim milk - 2 pts 1 banana cut up - 2 pts     Lunch 3 oz of chicken breast - baked - 3 pts asparagus 1/2 cup - 0 pts brocoli 1/2 cup - o pts few grape tomatoes - 0 pts FF salsa over my chicken - 0 pts   Snacks 4 large strawberries - 1 pts 1 mandarian orange - 1 pt   Dinner Turkey meatloaf - 4 pts 1/2 baked potatoe - 1 pt green beans - 0 pts   WW ice cream bar - 1 pt   18 pts total - I get 21, but I lowered it down to 20 this week.

Wow, long time since I've posted. Winter has gotten the best of me, was diagnosed with SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) and its time to get the winter weight off.   Will post later when I have more time, just wanted to reactivate my journal!

Bfast - SF yogurt, low fat cottage cheese mixed   Lunch -   Dinner -   Exercise -   Notes - I took the day off yesterday and ate what I wanted, I had some of those 100 cal Reeses snack packs a few times yesterday (one for breakfast), and ate a fried chicken tender (My moms fried chicken) for lunch & dinner. I usually don't eat fried stuff, but Hey, I took a day off. lol. I didn't exercise, I didn't even care yesterday. I'm back to eating right and eating light today and will be exercising tonight.   I am going to try and take my 2 month post op pic tonight.

Well, the weekend was a big bust for me. Not sure how many points I went over, but I know that I blew the WW plan on Saturday night. I was doing good until then.   I was released from the doctor on Friday and I decided that Monday (today) I would start the BFL program again. I am going to modify it a little, but for the most part, I will stick to the plan. I set my alarm for 4:45 am to hit the gym, well, I almost didn't go, but finally I forced myself up and headed to the gym. I'm so glad I did!   My menu today:   Bfast - weight wise oatmeal, WW yogurt = 3 pts   Snack a few pistachios - 2 pt   Lunch Green salad with all kinds of vegies, and 3 oz of baked chicken breast - 3 pts Homemade salad dressing with EVO and lemon and vininger - 2 pts FF pudding - 2 pts   Dinner 1 baked potatoe with lean ground beef and side salad - 5 pts   WW dessert - 4 pts   Exercise - :smile: 35 min on elliptical 5:00 am   45 min with strength training UBWO - 11:30 am   Wt - didn't weigh this morning, but will be weighed tonight at the WW meeting. Hopefully I'm down at least 1 lb!

3/2/07 menu

One thing I want to do in my journal is be COMPLETELY honest about what I eat, even if its bad. I just want to be able to look back on my journal and say, oooo thats why I didn't lose, or wow, I did great - so here goes my menu for today:   Breakfast - cottage cheese mixed with 1/2 container of LC yogurt   Lunch - Ham chef salad - ranch dressing on the side. Salad had about 340 calories, dressing had 75 cals. I ate all my salad, but it was a small side type salad that had ham on it.   snack - string cheese   Dinner - Oh boy.....we went out to eat at this Amish buffet - need I say more? Okay, I'll try and list what I ate - 2 1/2 small pieces of FRIED catfish dipped in taurter sauce, about 3 bites of a meatloaf (very good) about 4 bites of salad, a bite of green beans, 2 bites of sour krout, two sips of water, a bite of chocolate cake, two bites of peanut butter pie, a bite of my DH's coconut cream pe - so basically 4 bites of sweats (pies/cakes), not too bad, but not that great. In the past I would have eaten 4 pieces of pies. I again, ate a bit too much, but not miserable, just full.   Water - 50 oz   Exercise - 20 min Elliptical machine (HIIT)   Supplements - 2 thermo Dynamx before breakfast, 1 multi vitamin, B-12. 2 more thermo dynamx before lunch   Notes - I wanted to add another thing to my journal about my binge last night. Although yes, it was a binge - 8 cookies is not a little snack, it was a binge, I learned something. I learned that in the past, after one of my usual binges, I would wait an hour or so, then go back for more. I did not do that last night. My tool helped me STOP the binge. I usually will go on a binge for DAYS. Once I have a binge, there is no stopping me, however, my tool did stop me. I was miserable last night, and today I am still thinking I do not want to feel that way again. So, my tool did help me.   As punishmet, I decided I would step on the scales to show myself what the binge did to me. I was quite surprised to see I had lost another pound. So, I was happy that the binge did not make me go up in weight.

3/19/09 - "Just Do it!"

I'm tired of all my excuses, ....too tire, my knee hurts, blah blah blah. Its time to JUST DO IT! Just get my butt to the gym and exercise. That is how I lost 70 lbs the first year, EXERCISE!   So - last night, I had me a good dinner, turkey and 1/2 cup of stuffing (not so good - but only ate a little), and some green beans. I waiting for about an hour, and then got ready and headed to the gym. I only did about 35 min on the elliptical,   As I was doing the elliptical I concentrated on how great I feel when I exercise, it really makes me feel and look good. So why do I blow it off? Anyhow, thats when I decided, no more, no more excuses, its time to just do it!   Today, at 10, went down to our gym at work and did 15 min on the elliptical, just to get my matabolism going. I'm going to do it again at 3. Then tonight, going to an abs, abs, abs class at 6:15 to 6:30, doing ZUMBA class at 6:30 to 7:30. Its time to fake it until I make it. No more excuses. I want to reach my goal - by gawd, I am going to reach my goal. Its time to dig down deep and pull that determination out!   Menu today   Bfast 1 cup of fiber one ceral with 1 cup of skim milk 1/2 cup of diced peaches on my ceral   3/4 cup of protein shake - 10:30ish   Lunch tossed salad with turkey chopped up, salsa for dressing   Snack - later in afternoon - 1 apple   Dinner 1 chicken taco filled with mixed greens - no cheese   Exercise   1. 10 am - 15 min on elliptical 2. 3pm - 15 min on elliptical 3. 6:15 pm - abs class 4. 6:30 pm - Zumba class - latin dance aerobics.   5 - Maybe some lower body strength training, not sure if I can do with all the other cardio......we'll see.

Breakfast -   Lunch -   Dinner -   Exercise - 30 min Total body cross trainer, 230 calories. 15 min in hot tub and 10 min in steam room - felt good!   Notes - Feeling bloated, crampy and yuk! band feels tighter, not hungry, not eating much.

I went to my WW meeting last night and didn't lose anything. The good news, I didn't gain anything either. I went over my points for the week and I did bad for three days in a row. So I was pleasantly surprised that I didn't gain anything, and so happy about it too.   This week is going to be better! I'm already down a bit according to my scales.   This week, I'm focussing on exercise! Oh - its on this week! I'm going to kick some butt in the exercise department! Oh yes, next week, I can't wait to step on the scales because I'm going to see a 2 lb loss. Thats right, 2 lbs! Me and the scale, we are going head to head and I'm going to win! Its on baby!   Wt - my scales, naked in the am 164.9   WW scales - fully clothed in the afternoon - 167.6

Breakfast - Tea, a handfull of almonds - about 7   Lunch - Went out to eat with an old friend - thai b-b-que, had 2 tiny spring rolls, 2 pieces of grilled shrimp, bite or 2 of rice, and 1 roasted chicken thigh (ate way too much, a little nauscious - Oh, by the way, my friend said I looked wonderful!)   Dinner - Went out with friends about 7 hours after my lunch, was not hungry, but ate one of my daughters chicken strip (they were breaded - but only ate one) I was full.   Exercise - treadmill 50 min - 381 calories, 2.60 distance, 3.5% incline, speed varried from 3.1 to 3.3.   Notes - Feeling really bloated today, feet a bit swollen, I think its getting close to TOM. Due around the 18th I think, but I'm so irregular, you never know when it will come and visit.

Breakfast - SF yogurt with granola mixed in   Lunch - 1/2 of hamburger patty, 5 or 6 french fries   Snack - string cheese about 6 almonds   Dinner - Cleansing tea   Exercise - 25 min on treadmill (178 calories, 1.28 miles, 4.0 incline, varried from 3.1 to 3.2 mph. Then, did a 30 min salsa aerobic class (FUN!) Not sure how many calories, but I was sweaten'!

3/14/07

Breakfast - 1 container of SF Yogurt with granola mixed in   Lunch - 2 chips & salsa, a taco salad (just ate the grilled chicken off of it) and a small portion of quacamole (we went out for lunch to Mexican)   Dinner - 5 little mini sugar free brownies - the new girl scout ones, 1/2 cup of salad, 1/2 cup of popcorn - I know (where is the protein?) Had a bad problem tonight with just putting stuff in my mouth - see notes   Exercise - Treadmill (PM) 50 min, 359 calories, 2.48 miles, speed varied 3.1 to 3.2 mph.   Notes - Didn't weigh this morning:clap2: - I was glad I had enough will power to stay off the scales - I dont ever want to see 200 AGAIN, so I'm waiting until I know I'm down to the 190's before stepping on my scale. Hopefully by Monday I will feel skinny enough to step on them.   Okay - I noticed tonight I was eating every time I turned around, was I hungry NO. I figured out tonight that I must work on this "grazing". I need to not eat just because its "dinner time", but wait until I'm actually hungry I think. I'm not sure why I was eating, I think it was out of boredome, or just the need to put something in my mouth. I will be making a conscious effort to not graze and not just put JUNK in my mouth.

Weight - 201 :clap2:   Breakfast - early early cleansing tea/then had some yogurt & cottage cheese mixed   Lunch - 2 chicken strips (grilled)   Dinner - 1 cup of salad with 1 grilled chicken strip   Exercise - Well, no gym, but worked my butt off around the house and yard! I call that exercise - back is killing me   Notes - I ate more than usual today, but noticed hungrier today. I think the band is tighter some days, today, not as tight. I got several compliments at work today, telling me how good I'm looking (no one knows I had WLS).

My weekly weigh in (even though I step on the scales a few times during the week) 201.8. Yay, I'm getting closer and closer to 199!   Breakfast - Cleansing tea   Lunch - salad (dressing on side), grilled chicken breast   Dinner - German chocolate cake - bad I know, but my son's best friend made it for me to thank me for calling AAA (He locked his keys in his car). I felt I had to eat it, but only ate a very small piece.   Exercise - I decided I'm taking the day off - having a few pains and the time change has done a wonder on me - so tired today!   Notes - I was so tired today. The time change has really affected my mood/energy level. Will try and get into bed before midnight tonight.

I woke up around 8:00 am, got ready and headed to the gym!   Exercise - 44 min on treadmill, varied from 3.2 to 3.4 mph, 3.2 incline, burned 320 calories, 2.22 miles. I went BACK to the gym for an evening session, however, I was a bit sore so I didn't work as hard and just did it at a nice pace - 35 min on treadmill, 2.7 mph, 170 calories, 1.52 miles. Total calories burned today = 490   Breakfast - cleansing tea   Lunch - salad with some grilled chicken breast on it. No dressing   Dinner - cleansing   PS - the scales showed 202! I'm so close to onderland, I can smell it!

Okay, its Tuesday and a lot better day today!   Went to WW meeting last night and lost 1.4 lbs since last week. Making it a total loss since joing WW of 4 lbs. I told myself that if I could lose just 1 lbs a week, I would be happy. So losing a total of 4 lbs averages out to 1 lb a week. Its been 4 weeks since joining.   I made a great low point/low cal pizza last night and I will be having it for lunch.   Whole wheat with Flax Flat-out bread - 100 cal - 1 pt   3 oz of baked chicken breast (diced up) - 3 pts   Rago, no added sugar pasta sauce - 50 cal - 0 pts   2 tbs of olives - 27 cal - 1 pt   handfull of mushrooms - 0 pts   diced onion - 0 pts   1/3 cup of WW Mexican Cheese - 2 pts   Total point value 7 pts   Lay out the flat bread, spread 1/2 cup of the pasta sauce over it. Place the chicken, olives,mushrooms, onions on the pizza then cover with the cheese.   Bake in preheated oven at 425 (I bake it on my stone pan from pampered chef) for 5 to 7 min or until cheese is melted.   It was very very filling and healthy. I had a craving for pizza so I just made my own. :confused:   Todays menu   Breakfast fiber bar - 2 pts coffee with cream - 1 pt   snack orange - 1 pt   Lunch Pizza - 7 pts   snack yogurt - 1 pt   Grapes - 1 pt   Dinner meatloaf (made with 1/2 turkey breast and lean beef)- 4 pts green beans - 0 pts   Snack (while watching the Biggest Loser) WW dessert - 4 pts   Wt - naked first thing in am 165.1 WW weigh in weight (evening time fully clothed) - 167.6

EAting has been okay, not too bad, but not 100% perfect either. My exercise has been BAD. I am planning on making it to the gym tonight, so we'll see.   I didn't weigh, I was supposed to weigh this morning, but completly forgot. I was running late this morning to work, so just didn't think about it.   Will update later on whether I made it to the gym or not.

Exercise - 35 min on treadmill (244 calories, 1.77 miles, 3.2 mph, 3.0 incline) - evening exercise.   Eating -   Pretty much still doing the Master Cleanse, I did have about 7 bites of a salad (dressing on the side) and I was full. I'm drinking my cleanse mix up as I type.   I'm probably going to go off of the cleanse next week, I have a wedding to attend on Saturday, so I'm hoping to look extra sexy. I'll also see an ex boyfriend at the wedding (its his nephew that is getting married), and this ex dumped me, so I wanna look as good as possible!

3/1/07 menu

Breakfast - 4 oz cottage cheese with 4 tblsp of lc yogurt mixed in (12 grams of protein)   Lunch - grilled chicken (left over from the salad yesterday) and 2 slices of avocado   Snack - string cheese   Dinner - 1 FRIED chicken breast (I took the skin & crust off)   TRUE CONFESSION TIME - I overdosed on girlscout cookies - I'm so mad at myself. I had 5 trefolds (150 calories - 20 g of carbs), and 3 thin mints - about (110 calores - 11 g of carbs), 1 cup of 2% milk - BAD BAD   Water - 50 oz - not enough   Supplements - 2 Therno Dynamx before breakfast, 1 multi vitamin, Liquid B-12   Exercise - NONE   Notes - What in the heck did I do to myself? I feel miserable, I ate way too much tonight, and the cookies did not help at all. Now I am in pain, my port area hurts. I know I have over ate and I WILL NOT do this again. I can't believe I did this to myself. I need a fill - BADLY. And I must deal with my emotions rather than turning to COOKIES (MY weakness is sweets). I'm glad today is over, tomorrow will be a better day!   On the bright side, I had my 6 week follow up appointment with my doctor. He said How well I've been doing on my weight loss, I explained to him, most of my weight loss came from my 1st two weeks, then he said "Oh, well, I guess your not doing too well after all" - He told me I need a fill - duh. So, I'm scheduled for my fill on Tuesday, March 6th at 12:30. I have to fast before my fill. It will be with the radiology dept at the hospital. It will be interesting what my first fill will do for me. I hope I can get back to losing weight. I don't want to gain - I need to lose. I think that is why I turned to cookies tonight. i was feeling so down - but I must learn to deal with my emotions. I have to change my behavior.

3 weeks post op

Yesterday marks my 3 weeks post op. I've lost weight, I've lost inches and I feel pretty good. My port side is still sore, it is actually has a slight burning pain today. But not too misserable.   I went to see my gynocologist and told her I had the lap band surgery, she was pleased. She has seen great progress from people. I also weighed 214 on her scales, with my jeans on and I feel constipated. So Naked, I might weigh less:clap2: .   One problem I am having is I am waking up extremely early in the mornings. I wake up refreshed and ready to go. Monday I woke up before the alarm at 5:30, same with Tuesday. Wednesday & Thursday I woke up around 4:30. Now this morning, I'm wide awake at 3:30 am! I didn't go to bed until after 11:00 - I was caught up with Larry King, Nancy Grace on the Anna Nicole death. So I probably didn't get to sleep until midnight. That means I only got about 3 1/2 hours of sleep last night. I'm not sure why I'm waking up, not sure if its the C-pap machine doing it or what? But for the life of me, I cannot go back to sleep.   I got up at 3:30, looked on the internet on Ebay - Then I found myself hungry, so I had a SF pudding snack with protein powder mixed it.   One other thing I'm noticing is in the mornings, I find myself dry heaving. Not sure why, but feel a little nausious in the mornings - NO, I'M NOT PREGO. :confused:   My menu today:   4:00 am - SF pudding with a heaping TBSP of protein powder 7:00 am - 1 egg over easy 12:00 pm - 1/2 cup of cottage cheese 4:00 pm - 8 oz protein shake 8:00 pm - soup with shredded cheese (1/2 cup)

3 days until banding!

OMG - 3 more days....its finally getting here! Its really going to happen!   I'm on my all clear liquids - and totally forgot it is CLEAR liquids, I had a cup of coffee this morning, I added a scoop of vanilla protein powder to it, it was pretty good. :hungry: I'm still hungry, the the hungry is starting to go away and it is getting a little easier.   I am in the middle of an ice storm here in Oklahoma, but it is finally moving out, so hopefully that doesn't mess my surgery date up.   Menu today   1 cup of coffee - scoop of vanilla protein powder (should not be drinking coffee) 1 cup of beef broth chocolate protein shake SF lime jello 1 sf pinapple popsicle protein shake - Slim Fast LC Nectar shake 1 piece of fish bite of chips & salsa 1 cup of chicken broth   I can't seem to get enough to make me not hungry with the liquids

29 more days until my banding!!!!   I did not make it the gym last night. My daughter had a concert at school, so by the time that got over with, I just didn't have the energy. So, I must get there tonight.   Eating was off yesterday, didn't do that bad, but didn't do that great either. However, I knew I was going to eat what I want, and try and make wise choices, so I am not feeling guilty.   Anyhow, I'm back on track today!!!!

28 months ago!

28 months ago I got the band. What a ride its been. Below are my stats - month by month - as you can see, the longer you have the band and the closer you get to goal, the harder its been for me. Some fly right to their goal, for me, its been hard work - and lots of it!   Consultation with Doc 11/24/06 - 248.9 Surgery Date 1/18/07 - 226 1 mo post op (Feb 18)- 206.8 2 mo post op (March 18) - 198 3 mo post op (April 18th)- 193 4 mo post op (May 18th)- 184.2 5 mo post op (June 18th(- 178 6 mo post op (July 18th)– 174 7 mo post op (Aug 18th)- 178 - went on vacation and ate big (7 day cruise) 8 mo post op (Sept 18th)- 174 9 mo post op (Oct 18th)- 170 10 mo post op (Nov 18th) - 167 11 mo post op (Dec 18th) - 170 - haven’t even been trying 12 mo post op (Jan 18th 2008)- 174 - again, not trying. But finally refocused - exactly where I was at 6 mos post op – so basically no weight loss in the past 6 mos 13 mo post op (Feb 18th) - 183 - Ouch! started taking steroids and made my weight go up, along with not eating right and no exercise! 14 mo post op (March 18th)- 185 - grrrrr 15 mo post op (April 18th)- 180 - weight is finally going down, but inches are actually coming off faster since I've been exercising a lot. 16 mo post op (May 18th)- 178 17 mo post op (June 18th)- 175 18 mo post op (July 18th)- 179- still not focussed:sad: 19 mo post op -(Aug 18th) - 178 - focussed again - This time I am committed to getting to goal and will not stray! I do not ever want to see the 180's again! 20 mo post op (Sept. 18) - 171 - :smile2: 21 mo post op (Oct 18) - 168 22 mo post op (Nov 18) - 169 - I am focussed and doing good, but need to get back to exercising. I want to hit 160 by year end. 23 mo post op (Dec 18) - 166 - only 6 more pounds to get to my goal by year end. I don't think it will happen, but I will continue to try. 24 mo post op (Jan 18, 2009) - 168 - had hysterectomy and gained from all the fluid due to surgery 25 mo post op (Feb 18) - 168 - not losing, maintaining - joined Weight Watchers to give me some accountability and some structure. 26 mo post op (March 18) - 165 - WW going slow, but finally moving down again 27 mo post op (April 18) - 165 - grrrr - 28 mo post op (May 18) - 160 - FINALLY, almost out of the 160's. The lowest I have been in YEARS! 5 lbs away from being at a healthy weight, and 15 lbs away from my ultimate goal of 145!!!   Had my Weight Watchers meeting last night, I hit my 5% goal of weight loss, so I was excited. I'm half way to my goal of 10% - which would put me to 17 lbs and at a healthy weight (with clothes on).   WW scales last night read 163.2 - fully clothed, my scales read 160 - first thing in the am in my bday suit. I go by my scales since that is the way I've weighed all along.   It feels so good to be so close to being HEALTHY. My BMI was at 25.89. I want to get it to around 23. Something below 25. I love my band, but its a tool that I have to work with, not let it do all the work.   Today's menu   Bfast - Iced Mocha - non fat milk   Lunch grilled chicken tossed salad   Snack Apple - peanut butter (1 TBS)   Dinner soup

28 days until banding

Wow, just 28 more looooong days before I am banded.   My eating has been okay, last night we went out to eat, and it was kinda weired. Usually I can eat the entire plate and am licking the the juices off the plate, but I only ate about 1/2 of it. My DH said, "your not eating much", and I said, "I'm full". I think he about fell out of his chair. lol. I don't know if I have ever stopped eating when I was full.   Ever since that I found out I was approved for the band. I've tried to eat the banster way, not always succeeding, but it is on my mind, take small bites, eat slow, and chew chew chew. Proteins first then veggies. So, even without the band, I'm making some changes.   I have taken this surgery very serious and not looking at it as a quick fix, but as a tool. I am going to have to do my part in order to lose this weight.   The last few days, exercise has been zippo. I didn't go last night because my mother came over and she lives out of town, so I couldn't just leave her and run to work out. So my DH & I took my mother out for a nice dinner. My mother & I were a bit depressed so DH thought dinner out would be good (what a sweet guy I have :kiss2: ).   My Grandmother (who I love like no other) is slowly dying and it is really depressing for my mother & I. My Gma had a very bad stroke April 9, 2004 so because she was crippled, my mother could not take care of her anylonger. She needed 24/7 care and my mom could not lift my grandmother due to my mothers own health problems. So, since I am power of attorney over my Gma, I placed her in a nursing home. My mother & I visit her almost daily and have since she was placed there. But lately, her eating has gone down to about 25% of her food. Hospice informed us yesterday this is the first stages of death. I know my grandmother is in pain and I hate seeing her suffer daily, its just hard knowing that this woman I loved more than anythig in the entire world is about to leave me. And my mom is a big moma's baby too, and she always cared for my gma thru the years, so its hard on my mom too. Anyhow, its just a tough time for my mother & I to endure but I know it has to happen and I know in the long run, death will be so much better for my Grandmother than living like she is. I know she WOULD NOT want to live like this and she has told me that many of times that she never wants to dwindle away in a nursing home, which is exactly what she is doing. I wish I could change it, but I can't.   Anyhow, just expressing my emotions today.

Down to 27 more days until my banding!   I've decided to throw out the darn scales, and not weigh any longer. I will weigh once I'm banded and after my first fill to make sure I'm losing the 1-2 lbs per week. I just hate that I'm not losing right now. I'm just stuck at 227, and then I bounce back up to 231 this morning, I have not eaten bad yesterday, did quite well.   Oh well, the scales is not a way to measure our success. I'm going to take my measurements this weekend and I will post them.   NO MORE SCALES FOR ME UNTIL AFTER MARCH 1. My New Years Resolution!
