If the band does its part, I?ll do mine!

Okay I’m writing this because I’ll get my band one week from tomorrow and I’ve subconsciously be worried about being a failure. What if it’s doesn’t work? What if I gain the weight back and more? What if…what if…. What if? Then I found my-self looking for posts from others who have had their bands removed for various reasons. Well enough of that. My surgeon told me realistically what I could expect from my band 60-65 percent of my excess weight which means that since I’m about 130 lbs overweight I could expect to lose 70-80lbs. That is 70-80lbs less that I weigh now which would put me somewhere around 190lbs. Now to some that is still a lot of weight but for me it’s a lot less than that 279lbs. What I’m saying is I don’t expect to come out of this wearing a size 2 however if I can get to 10-12 that would be great. I willing to work my butt off for that 10-12 and it the band does it s part, I’ll do mine. There is no point of doing this If I’m not going to follow the rules, eat right and exercise. Anyway no more negative post reading for me I’m getting me band, I’m going to let it help me and I will be a success. You anti-banders will have one less person to listen to your rants sorry. Good Luck everyone

The 1st 8 Pounds

So I got up at 4am this morning ready to do my Leslie Sanson walk away the pounds DVD (Walk and Kick). Now I haven’t been weighed since I got the pre-op diet from the nutritionist on 02/10 and on that day I was at 276.2lbs. I got the scale from the laundry room praying it didn’t say 276.2 after all I have been following the pre-op diet to the “T” not cheating at all. To my surprise the scale read 268lbs. This is such a great feeling. I know eight pounds is not a lot but for me this is big. This means that I have stuck with something and whatever I’m doing is working. I wanted to share this with you guys because you have been such great supporters since I started my journey. Good Luck to you all!!!

I long wait?but it?s hopefully almost over.

Okay after about 4 months, I finally have everything done. Nutritionist, psych eval, chest x-ray/upper GI, now I have to wait for the surgeon to sign off and then wait for United Health Care to approve me. This could take and another 2 to 3 weeks but I'm optimistic. Hopefully I can get banded in early Feb. I'm so ready to see my waist line again lol.

Everyone should attend a support group before getting WLS

I attended a support group last night and it was inspirational. When you talk to people in your life that can’t relate to what you are going through but they try and support you anyway that’s great, but last night I got a change to fellowship with people who knew exactly what I was going through. These were people who were from all different backgrounds but who were brought together for the same reason their struggled with weight. I was also able to ask questions, one lady even let me fill where her port was (wow) she has been banded since May and is down 68lbs. After a lady in her 50’s broke down and told her story about how she hated to look in the mirror and how she was doing this for herself I was in tears. Anyway this is just my experience, I think everyone should consider going to a support group or a couple of support groups if they are deciding to do this. It will show you that you are truly not alone...
