I had my surgery Tuesday the 12th. I am paying out of pocket so I didnt use any pain meds and refused the meds they wanted to give me in the hospital. Really, I felt ok. My pain level was about a 4 and that was mostly gas. I tried walking around the unit but that did not help. My incision sites are sore and I still have slight gas pains. I kinda feel hungry which I didnt expect. Im on full fluids so I just had a cup of greek yogurt. Seems like everything went well and it was a fairly easy surgery and recovery. On a comical note, the hospital put me in a room with a lady who had lap band 6 months ago. She ended up being very sick with it so they took it out and now she has a bad infection. She was a very nice lady and we had a chuckle about her being my roommate but I would have preferred not to hear that story the day of my surgery.
How long does it take for the soreness to go away? How long will I have these hunger pains? Is it safe to be walking outside 2 days after surgery?
Hi everyone.
I am 5 weeks post op. I have an appointment with my doc in 2 weeks. My question is: when can I start doing hard core workouts? He told me to hold off for "a little while" but I negled to ask him how long. When is it safe to do pilates and core strengthening? Since I have not lost weight yet and Im able to eat anything I feel like I really need to get back into my hard workouts. I dont want to end up with a hernia ( doc siad that was possible ).
I have a question for all you bandsters out there.
I was banded 3 weeks ago. My doc has me on regular food now. So for over 2 weeks I was consuming about 800 cals a day. Now I am eating a little more. I walk 5K a day. I was wondering if anyone could explain to me when the weight loss will begin. I actually lost nothing but I gained a pound. Once I get a fill I cant imagine eating much less than 800 cals a day especially when exercdising a lot. Just seems so weird that my body isnt responding to this very expensive proceedure. I welcome help and advice from anyone who has gone through this. Thanks guys!
Ive been banded 5 months now and although I have minimal weight loss despite all of my hard work I feel thankful that Im no longer able to over eat.
Prior to surgery I ate good nutritional food but I ate a lot of it. Now, after my 3rd fill especially, Everything I eat has protein but usually doesnt have much fiber. My bowels dont seem to move the same and its more difficult. Im not able to eat very much and my first choice is protein - it must be that way since I work out very hard. I find that I dont have much more room for veggies and I certainly cant eat things like whole grains.
Does anyone have a good nutritional supplement ( preferably food, not a pill) that would help me get the propper nutrion while still allowing me all the protein I need?
I was banded 15 days ago. I had my follow up appointment today. I love my doc. He's very liberal. I was only on full liquids for a week then mushies for a week. Now he wants me to eat normally. Of course I need to load up on protein, chew well and eat slowly. He said he has been doing this a long time and the whole process is often misunderstood. He said there is no need to be on liquids for as longs as I read most people are. I have been very hungry but Im getting kind of use to it. I will have my first fill in 4 weeks. I walk 5K every day and eat 3 very small meals a day. You'd think Id lose some weight but as it turns out I have gained a pound since my surgery date. He said not to worry about it. The weight loss will be very slow. I have no idea how much I weigh and I dont care. He said it will probably take me a year to lose 50lbs. Thats about 1 pound a week. Does anyone else have a similar story? I thought things may go a little faster?
