I am on my 5th day post op and am so happy that every day gets better and easier. Stepping away from just broth and jello makes a huge difference and I really love my protein shakes right now! I feel very satisfied and hope that one day soon I will be able to think straighter than I have been. I am so glad I have this week off too! We are heading to the beach in the morning and I look forward to a change of scene even if I will not be eating any seafood this time.
Thanks to everyone on this site for being so generous with their support and great help to all that ask. All I have to do is read on the site and I get info I haven't even thought about asking! What an awesome support system everyone is. I look forward to all your good advice!
Tomorrow I am heading back to work for the first time since surgery and I am very nervous! Surgery was almost 2 weeks ago and I spent my 2nd week off work at Sunset Beach NC. It was beautiful and quite and I could just do at my pace. Sometime last Wednesday, I decided to go sit on the beach and used spray on sunscreen. It must have been the end of the bottle since I have white splotches on my left upper arm in the middle of nasty red skin! As if I wasn't struggling with how I feel trying to recover, but a burn too? Seriously?! At least it isn't my entire body!
Does anyone have any advice for the scared feelings of returning to work? I work for a major stock brokerage firm and deal in a lot of money!!
Pre-Op is tomorrow, the 23rd and my surgery is scheduled for Tuesday the 27th of July! Hard to believe it is here after dreaming about this for years. I have to give a big thumbs up to UnitedHealthcare and my employer's benefits. It was really easy and my heart goes out to those of you that had/have trouble getting approved. I can only imagine how stressful that is. I did pretty well on the pre-op diet but it wasn't as strict as some that I have read about. I guess I am ready:smile:
Yesterday was my first fill and thanks to everyone here, I wasn't that nervous! I was surprised when my surgeon came in and did it instead of his assistant. Wow, he is really cute and extremely personable!
Back to topic, he had me on the table and told me the port was under my incision so it would not hur and he was right. I asked him how much he put in during surgery and he said there was 4cc in there now. He ended up putting in 1.5 cc. It was weird when he had the needle in the port, he had me do a small abdominal crunch and then a little wiggling / slight pressure and we were done!
I have lost 30 lbs since my July banding and am so happy to have been able to do this for myself!
Have a great weekend everyone!
I have had a crampy feeling on my left side, a little higher than my bellybutton. It isn't the port site. I had a fill on Friday but the feeling didn't start until Monday after lunch (salad). I have had no other problems and was banded 7/27. It isn't out and out painful, just almost like a stitch if I had run.... Any thoughts?
I went for my first doc visit today and he was happy with my progress and decided to skip the fill this time. I am feeling great and started exercising / walking my extra hilly neighborhood and don't feel like I am dying! Every day is just better than the last and for all of you out there getting started on your journey, congratulations!
Any suggestions on favorite vitamins? I failed to start that and now gotta get on the ball asap!
