Happy Halloween!

Well it's finally here thank goodness. Don't get me wrong I like Halloween. I love seeing my grandkids dressed up so cute & all the other little Trick or Treaters. What I will be happy to see go is these candy bars! I bought them way too early (Oct. 10th) funny I remember the day. lol... It's a miracle I haven't broke down & opened them! Well it's only 8 something in the morning but I'm ready to give out candy! Hope everyone has a wonderful & safe Halloween:biggrin: P.S. Pass it around I'm giving out full size candy bars so I can get rid of these suckers quick:-)

Three months today!

Well today is three months since I was banded. A lot of great things are happening with the weight loss. In my last post a month ago I told you about my not being able to walk for longer than 3 mins. (see blog if interested in my illness:-) I haven't walked for 1 & 1/2 years without my walker. Well after loosing 37 lbs. & physical therapy 3x a week...I'am walking again! Today I went to the grocery store & I was able to go down every aisle. 2 years ago before the H1N1 I did not find grocery shopping fun. Today I was thankful I could walk for an hour without sitting down (look out Macy's). Tomorrow I'm joining a gym & I hope the weight loss goes even faster. I'm starting to feel like my old very busy self again. I'am so glad I got this LAP-BAND®.   I just had to share with the people on this site who have keep me going & encouraged me with their stories. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!   P.S. My husband is almost as excited as I'am that I can take over grocery shopping again :-)

Two months today and feeling hopeful!

Well today is two months since being banded & I've lost 27 lbs. A lot of people have lost more but I'm making progress & that's what counts for me. I started this journey to lose weight but also to gain back my independence. I haven't been able to walk for more than 3 minutes at a time for almost a year & a half. I got the H1N1 flu & was hospitalized for a week. When I came home it was another 10 days before I had the strength to do much walking. When I did my back felt like it was going to explode. Short version of story after every Neuroscience Specialist, MRI & test available, more injections to the spine than a porcupine , physical therapy & gaining 61 lbs. on a already chunky body...phew! I decided to pay for the LAP-BAND® (Ins. wouldn't cover) myself. It's a gamble to see if this is weight related but I'll feel better regardless. I'm already moving around better & I went back to physical therapy today. My clinic has a pool with a treadmill built in the bottom. They lower the water for me & I jog on it for 30 minutes. In the water I'm fine & in no pain:confused: this leads me to believe it could be a weight issue. Well whatever it is I'm not giving up with out a fight. I'm only 55 years old & I have a lot of living left to do! I hope everybody goes out today & makes it the Best Day possible!

First fill...Where did it go?

I went for my first fill yesterday & I don't feel any different. My Dr. uses Fluoroscopy so they could see how much saline I needed. I drank & they were happy that liquid was finally slowing down. They put in 5cc & said that is a lot for first time fill. Well here's my question...How come I'm still starving? I have to stay on liquids for 48 hrs. in case of swelling. I always follow my Dr.'s advice because he's done a lot of these, but I think I'm not falling in the normal category. Has anyone had a fill this big & still been hungry?...I'm holding on to every bit of will power I possess but 4 weeks is a long time to be so hungry... On the lighter side I've lost 20 lbs.:scared2: Any advice would be welcome!

Home from Lap Band surgery

I was banded Wed. July 28th. I'm home & doing well. Tummy's sore, throat's scratchy from breathing tube. I didn't get the gas pains so that was lucky. I don't think band is very tight because I can drink my whole 11oz. protein drink just fine. Wanted to check in & let people who are waiting to be banded know it's not that bad. I'm still laying low second day post-op but that's to be expected I think.
