Questions

This is all fairly new to me, I have only had my initial appointment with my doctor and I'm waiting to see what all my insurance requires before I can have the surgery. I was just wanting to see if anyone had any bad experiences from the LAP-BAND® surgery, if after you had it you regretted it because of the problems you may have had. I have only read good things on here and I just want to make sure I'm making the right choice and wanted some opinions from people who have had it done already. Thanks so much for any advice or information you could provide. :smile2:

Psych Appt

Well, I had my psych appt yesterday and apparently I am mentally stable to have the surgery. Good thing they didn't talk to people who really know me!!! He said that I had researched it thoroughly and that I knew what was expected after the surgery. So, now I just have to see a nutritionist and I have I think four more appointments to reach my six months and hopefully I can have my surgery in January!! I will start the new year off right. Hope everyone is doing well and have a wonderful day!!

Protein Shakes

I was just curious on what protein shakes are the best tasting. I haven't been approved by my insurance yet, but I have done all the testing and everything and am hoping that it won't be long before the whole thing happens. So, I was just checking to see what protien shakes everyone tried and which ones taste the best or at least not that bad!! I was thinking of maybe going to GNC and see if they had some like individual packets that you could buy so that I could try different ones to see what I like the best. What about those Isopur (I think thats how its spelled) drinks that GNC has are those any good? I just don't want to pay a lot for something that I just can't get down. Thanks!!

Live Alone

I don't have a surgery date yet, it will probably not be until early next year because I still have my nutrionist appt, which is tomorrow, and two more visits with my dr. Anyways, my question is was there anyone that had the surgery that went home alone? I live in an apartment by myself and was just wondering if I will have to have someone with me following the surgery or if I will be alright alone? Most everyone I've read on here is married, or has a boyfriend who they lived with. I'm just trying to get all the information I can so I will be prepared when the time comes. Thanks for any information and have a great day!!

Any Regrets?

I had been talking to a couple of people, telling them I was in the process of getting the lap band surgery and I'm getting a lot of, "Are you sure you want to do that?", "isn't there something else you can do besides surgery?", "I'm really scare for you." I'm just curious of the people on here who have had the surgery do you regret getting it, if you were asked to do it again tomorrow would you do it? This is something that I feel I am ready for and need to do this for me, so I am going to do it. It's my decision and I have researched it on-line, bought books, and all that and I feel this is the best option for me. I was just curious if anyone had any regrets. Thanks for any advice and have a great day!!

2nd appt

I have my second appointment tomorrow I guess to see what my insurance wil require before I have the surgery, they really didn't tell me what it was going to be just that they wanted me to come back in a month. So, hopefully, there won't be many hoops to jump through to get the surgery approved. I'm really ready to get this going and start a new life and lose this weight!! I'm ready for a new me, or less of me anyways!!! LOL

2nd Appt

So, I had my second appointment today and I have to see the doctor for six months, go to a psychiatrist, and see a nutritionist before I can get scheduled for the surgery. I think that's pretty much then norm with the insurance companies, so I'm one appointment closer then I was. I'm sure the time will fly by since this year is already half over. Hope everyone has a wonderful day!!

1 appointment left

OK, so I have my 6th and final appointment with the surgeon on December 1st, then they will submit all my information to the insurance to see if the surgery will be approved. I've been feeling pretty good, ready to have the surgery and get started on my new life. Now, I'm starting to feel the panic feeling of am I really going to go through with something this drastic to lose weight, what if something happens during the surgery, like he slips and cuts something. I have never had any type of surgery before and my thinking was, hey he does this surgery probably more then 30 times a month, what could go wrong. As it gets closer though, boy everything goes through your mind huh. It will more then likely be January so I still have time to prepare myself, for I hope is a wonderful outcome!!! Not sure listening to people in the waiting room talk about how their doing is good for me either. One lady was doing really good, one wasn't doing good at all, and the other one wasn't losing any weight said the doctor was brutal and her scars weren't healing well and she stopped losing weight and hoping another fill would help. Maybe next time I'll wear some headphones and block all that out!!!! :scared2: I have tried everything else and I think this is the best decision for me and pray that everything goes well and I can get started on the new me. Sorry for the long entry this time, just needed to not necessarily vent, just put out there was was on my mind I guess. Hope everyone has a wonderful day!!!
