Feeling better!

Wow so much better today! It all started Friday afternoon with headache and dizzy! I was still function-able but I laid down around 11:30pm and the room was spinning I slept for an hour woke up sick to my stomach. I spent the whole night dry heaving, dizzy, nauseous and going to the bathroom. No pain in stomach and I was able to drink liquids just fine. I had my fill Wednesday and I wasn't eating much but I WAS eating! I don't get migraines often, I think the last one was 2 years ago. Maybe it was that, maybe I was lacking vitamins., electrolytes (I drank Gatorade all weekend) or perhaps a virus. I have issues with vitamins making me nauseous since I was a kid. I take the Flintstone vitamins but stopped the day before my fill. By last night I was eating normal again. Woke up feeling good and the best part is that the scale says I lost 5 more pounds!! When I called the doctor they said maybe too tight but I don't think so I have been eating solids (grilled chicken, quiche, cheese) and drinking a lot. Well I guess I will pay more attention to the headaches and see if it happens again. I have thyroid issues too I think maybe I will request some blood work just to be on safe side!

Advice please.. not feeling well

So I had my fill on Wednesday. He put in 4.8cc. I was fine Wed and Thursday. I stated to feel shaky and dizzy around 3pm Friday. I ate some solid food and was ok. A couple of hours later dizzy again, so I ate a little more solid. Nothing stuck, no pain everything went down fine. I started feeling dizzier around 10pm and my husband suggested drinking more so I did. I have been up all night dizzy and nauseous. I am urinating a lot so I don't think its dehydration. Now I cannot eat or drink anything without dry heaving. I called the office the covering doctor told me to take zofran this weekend and if its still bad Monday to call my regular Dr. and I may need an unfill. This is the worst I have felt since having the procedure and I can't help thinking it may be a virus but is that a little coincidental. Like I said no pain in stomach just a lot of gurgling. Any advice from experienced bandsters?

Finally First Fill!

Hey everyone! I had my first fill today. It was pretty easy for the most part, a little (ouch:ohmy:) pinch and it was all over. I drank a little barium and watched it go down slowly through the band! He said he put in 4.8cc's. I did not eat breakfast today as per their instructions and I was hoping this fill would take away these HUNGER pains but it didn't so I will have a muscle milk later. I am really hoping this helps with more weight loss. I have been fluctuating between 19 - 24 pounds loss since starting the pre op diet. My doctor wants me to go for another fill on August 11th! It was interesting in the waiting room there were woman there that were not losing weight from the band. It was a bit discouraging. Listening to their stories I wonder if it was more of their own issues than the band or the doctor. Well I am staying focused and I have to get my butt out walking more. I will make every excuse in the world not to work out and I have to stop!!

3 weeks post op.. (almost)

Well Monday is 3 weeks post op for a total loss of 20 pounds. I only lost 1 pound this week. Hey I was happy:thumbup: I thought for sure now that I am on regular foods I was going to gain!! I had a couple of interesting moments this week trying foods and being STUPID ! Even though my band has no fluid I can not eat nearly what I ate before and dry foods have a really hard time going down. I got a turkey and swiss wrap the other day took one bite and felt like I was choking.:smile2: It was weird I would have thought the stuck feeling would have been lower but it was stuck right in my esophogus. And what did I do... drank water.. nope wrong thing to do. I actually used some of the tips I saw on here and streched my arms over the doorway and it was all ok in a few minutes. I find it VERY hard not to drink while I eat. Probably one of the hardest things to get used to! My next appointment is for my first fill on the 21st, I am determined to be at least 5 pounds less by then!! The best thing that happened to me this week was my dad (always very critical of my weight) saw me in shorts and said hey I notice already NOW DON'T GET TOO SKINNY! I really appreciate all the posts on here they help more than you know!

12 days post op total loss 19 pounds!

I go back every Friday to meet with my nutritionist and get weighed in. So far so good. But now my diet changes today to "soft" food and I can eat meat again! I hope I don't put back any pounds! The nineteen pounds includes pre op diet. I have been feeling very good other than itchy incisions and some mild diarrhea here and there:thumbdown:. I go for my first fill on the 21st, can't wait for that because I am getting hungrier quicker now! Just curious for those who have had fills how soon after 1st fill did you get 2nd fill? Also any itchy incision remedies?

Day 7 post op I MADE IT THROUGH!

Well I made it through today! My husbands side of the family came over for BBQ and cake for my sons birthday. None of them know I was banded on Monday. So I was surrounded by food all day and I did not eat a thing. Told them all I was on a protein diet where I have to have 2 shakes a day. Most were fine with it, some shook their heads like I was crazy  (very reason I didn't tell them). My husband was very compassionate and did not let me help at all.:cool2: I did not have to prepare or clean anything. I felt good today, but being out in 95 degree heat all day my incisions are sore and itchy. Today is definitely the best I felt! Sleeping is a different story I still have pain when I turn on my side but that too shall pass!!

Lesson Learned

Well I had my pureed soup last night and it was so good! Ten minutes after eating it I started to feel this incredibly full feeling and all sorts of noises came from my belly, gurgle, rumble you name it! I was too full. Big mistake I did not measure the soup I put it in a mug and only ate 3/4 of what was in there. I walked for an hour to try to relieve myself of that too full feeling. I burped a lot, everything stayed down but I was uncomfortable for a while. I guess I am still swollen, I just figured since I was able to take a mug of the liquid broth it was the same, wrong! Well as my 8 year old told me last night, now mommy have you learned your lesson? Yes lesson learned!

Feeling Fabulous on Day 5 (post op)

I started my day with a dr appt at 9:30 am this morning. Still feeling a little weak and not ready to drive so my husband drove me. Plus I took pain meds last night. I guess I tried to turn over while sleeping and woke up with some nasty pain. Turning over in my bed is difficult! Well I got on the scale at the dr office and was down to 264!:tongue2: I started at 277 and was 271 at my last nutrition class which was on the 19th. When they weighed me at the hospital Monday prior to surgery I was 278  I told them their scale really sucked! Boy did it feel good to see the scale today!!! And what was even better I can move on to pureed foods this week!! I can have puree soups, protein shakes, applesauce, OATMEAL, and cream of wheat! I used my magic bullet to puree Progresso chicken vegetable soup. Looking forward to that! I still have gas issues but hopefully they will go away soon! Waiting for my bowels to return to normal (sorry TMI). First day with no Tylenol! The other issue I have is taking a deep breath I feel pressure..is this normal?   Any good puree recipes/ideas?   Thanks for the support!

Famished on Day 4

Ok I woke up feeling pretty darn good and then it hit... HUNGER PAINS! :tongue_smilie:I ate the usual "clear liquid" stuff but by 4pm I was ever hungrier. Dr. said to call if I couldnt make it with clear liquids today and they would give me a mushie to eat...but I wanted to stick it out ( I go tomorrow at 9:30 Am). My husband has been a saint taking the kids out for dinner so I dont smell anything in the house!   I only took the pain meds before bed last night hoping that I wouldn't be as tired today but I think its the lack of food thats making me so tired. :tongue2: I had a little spot bleeding on the port incision but other than that cut I really don't feel pain in the others! Gas is still an issue, lots of grumbling anytime I drink. I step on the scale and its the same weight as it was Monday which is a bit depressing but I know it will take time. I bought the magic bullet today because anything I can make mushie I will attempt with my new toy !   Just curious for those that are banded, can you still eat salad, tomatoes?

Day 3 Post op

I went all day with just tylenol today:thumbup:. I was actually ok. The port is the only painful incision right now. Still very tired. The gas is a whole different story:sneaky:. During the night I had a lot of gas pain in my left rib area. I walked for an hour around the house and then took pain meds and was ok after I slept for 2 hours. Anytime I try to take liquids I hear this intense gurgling in my stomach. I was actually a little hungry today. One more day of liquids!! Anyone else start to feel hungry day 3? The "secret" is getting a little difficult because neighbors are calling. Trying to avoid everyone! One actually left a message saying, "Hi I see your husband and kids going and coming but I havent seen you, is everything ok?" In my neighborhood no one needs an alarm system, we got a couple of neighbors that are the local watchdogs :tt1:!

Day 2 Post op and the secret

Today I had to go to the doctors office which is a good 35 minutes away. Potholes and any bumps were not good! Very sore today and VERY tired. I slept on the couch during the night so I could keep moving if I needed to without waking the husband. Sleeping in the bed is difficult anyway. I attempted a nap and any time I moved I woke up. I do have gas today but it usually goes right away after I get up and move. I tried to just take tylenol instead of the pain meds but its too soon. I have no hunger what so ever and have been sticking to broth, jello and icepops. I had an isopure today..yuk! Dr. said I can start pureed food Friday after my next appt with them. :tt1:   The hardest part of this whole thing is that I am keeping this a secret from a lot of people. Only about 8 people know. The people I trust the most. No one at work knows ( i teach so I am off for the summer) nor do my neighbors know. I am not a good liar but I just felt like I don't want anyone to judge me or "monitor" my progress. So avoiding people this week is hard. Did anyone else keep this a secret? Maybe in time I will tell but I just feel its no ones business.

Me + Anethesia = Yuck

So I did it. I was scared in the operating room saying to myself, what the heck am i doing? :smile2: BUt there was no turning back. It really would not have been so bad had i not reacted to anethesia the way I do. Even with all the anti nausea meds I felt sick. I couldn't wake up too but I forced myself so I could leave. I could not talk to anyone because it made my nausea worse. I did not sleep all night with nerves so I probably just need to sleep, i tried but keep waking up. The only pain I feel is the soreness of the belly, not horrible just really sore. Getting up hurts because gravity is pulling the cuts down, but still tolerable. I have a nagging headache. No gas pains, I am pacing my room every hour and I do burp. So I had chicken broth, ice pop (throat is sore too), and water. What else is good to have today? Is it ok to sip water out of a straw?   I am on liquid Oxycodone with tylenol, generic name is roxicet 5/325. Also anti nasuea Zofran.   More to come tomorrow, Hopefully I will feel like wonder woman ! Thanks for the support everyone, you have no idea how much it helps!!!!!

Banded tomorrow

I got my call to be there at 6am tomorrow! I am a nervous wreck! I am feeling so hungry today, part of me wants to eat food but I also don't want complications so I am sticking to liquids and eggs. Trying to get the house and kids organized for at least the next three days. I got all my prescriptions, gasx, liquid tylenol, heating pad, ice packs.. any other suggestions? Oh and of course my isopure and broth! :smile2:

Question for those who have been through it

I am going to get banded on Monday! I am very excited and very nervous! I just found out I have to go for a follow up the next day and its about 35 minutes away. Does that sound doable? I was hoping to just relax, and walk around the house :smile2:! Second question is he told me to stop the birth control pill, anyone else ever told this? And lasty did anyone use chewable gasx, did it help post surgery?     Thanks for the help!
