People Please!

I really wish for all that is holy that people would stop getting lapbands in Mexico. Number one they are a third world country. Do you really want medical care there! I am a registered nurse and have seen the screw up from these doctors and patients. Don't do it! They don't provide the correct or if any pre op teaching so post operatively people are doing things that screw things up. Your health is worth a lot more than saving some money. Yes it is cheaper but have you ever thought why? Mexican doctors and I use the term doctors loosely do not receive proper medical training. This isn't the place to go to get a lapband.     I see it at work everyday and as a lapband patient I just nod my head in disbelief.

6 month mark

I recently had my 6 month anniversary and I am 47lbs down. I started at a size 26 and now am a size 18 which is actually about too big. It is very surreal to me how far I have come. I have definitely worked hard at it. I look forward to 47 more pounds to be lost in the next year. I have had my ups and downs but am happy I did this. I am off all meds now and only take multivitamins and allergy meds. It feels good to be healthy again!

To the lost email sender

I received a message the other day asking me about what my nutritionist had recommended the other day and dammit if the message has mysteriously disappeared. Of course I cannot remember their username either.   So to whomever that was I will write it here in the hope they will read it.   I was having trouble with feeling full and thought I needed a fill. Turns out I didn't. I went to visit my nutritionist and she recommended I eat 4oz dense protein(meat) at each meal and 3 oz veggies. I admit I wasn't eating a whole lot of dense foods. I tried this and it has helped. My weight loss has resumed.

My rant for the day

Why is it some people think that once they get the band that they can eat whatever they want and it will lose the weight for them? Did these people not pay attention during the eval process or better yet how the hell did they get through the eval process?   It was not an easy decision for me to decide to do this and I do not take it lightly. I knew I would have to change everything about my eating once I had this band placed. I am not perfect but I sure as hell don't expect it to lose the weight for me.   It is a tool people! You have to make healthy food choices and exercise!

The journey

I had my surgery on March 10, 2010 and it has been quite the experience. I have had ups and downs and learning things as I go.   I had my second fill last Friday and I feel like I am doing better with this one. I feel full and not hungry between meal. I am learning to seperate emotional hunger from real physical hunger. This has been a life long battle for me and it won't be overcome quickly.
