My starting journey....

In the middle of March, I requested to see my PCM. We were going to discuss the Lapband procedure and see if I was a candidate. The best new I got from him, was that I am and he is one board. He did everything he could to get me to the closest surgeon he could, but I can say that it helped that I did my homework. I have read so much and am so excited. After a few Tricare snafus, I finally got my referral to an obesity surgeon in Miami (I am in Key West) and made all the arrangements and appointments. I am seeing Dr. Anthony Gonzalez in Miami. He is a fantastic surgeon and his office staff is very helpful. They allowed me to go to a psych eval here and I did the nutritionist, seminar and first consult March 22 and 23rd. It was a nice little getaway as I went to Miami and stayed by myself while my DH stayed here with the boys. Insurance took a little longer, but alas...I HAVE BEEN APPROVED. I have to get preop tests done here in Key West, but I am scheduled for surgery on April 29th. I look forward to the end of my overweight journey and the beginning of my healthy one! K:lol:

One month since...

I have posted to my blog. I have never been really good at posting or keeping up with things I started..when it comes to writing. I am going to try to do better at this. I have been seeing Dr. Anthony Gonzalez (sp) in Miami. I had my surgery, two weeks ago tomorrow. It was at South Miami Hospital and the care I recieved was phenomenal. I would do it again in a heartbeat. I am down 13 lbs since my surgery. I love life, but I will say this is a little hard to get used to. I have been having a hard time with gas, think it might be the RTD protein shakes. When I eat, I have a little pain right under my right rib (kindof near my diaphram). I haven't figured out this pain yet, but today it is easing up. I think it is gas. Weird. I love my life and am so excited to see where I will be in six months. I started walking, and hit between 700-1000 calories depending on what I eat. Yesterday I was hungry all day. I am trying to watch that, and also stick with high protein. That pain, maybe I ate too much? Oh well, it's a learning curve I guess. My first fill is scheduled for June 9th, six weeks after my surgery. It is all good. I am so excited. Until we meet again, Good day. K:thumbup:

Harder than I thought.

Ok, I am almost three weeks post of and I must say that this is a little harder than I expected. It is easier to eat junk, (Not that I have been..although I have more than I should, but not as much as previously), why IS it easier to eat junk? I was trying to stay as low carb as possible to maximize my weightloss, but have found that as long as I have as much or more protein than carbs, it is easier. I called my dr's office today, they found me a cancellation, a week earlier than before...I so need a fill. I am excited to get this ball rolling, and get my sweet spot.
