Banded today

Today was my band day!! Surgery and post op went very well. Had 3 IV attempts prior to the nurses deciding a smaller cath (20g instead of 18g) was better. I look incredibly beat up. Had that ouchie shot (lovanox) in the flank for thrombis protection. Had surgery at 0930, in room by 1100, and walked the hall by 1215!! Was able to get swallow study with THAT ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE GASTROGAFFIN done about 1430. was discharged about 1630 home by 1700.!! No real pain-but VERY sore on left side. One HUGE episode of nausea to the 'oh shit please dont vomit 'stage- laid down, wash cloth, fan and less clothes and it passed. Took 4mg of zofran and will take it again in am for prevention!! I really feel like I sat too long (visiting with friend who brought dinner for dh and broth for me). Although it may have been the liquid tylenol with 1oz water chaser. THICK stuff!! Gonna get fast melts tomorrow!! Have, but did not fill rx-i dont do well with nasty liquid. Got a 9.5cm, 4cc Inamed band. REALLY like Dr. Hamn- he was wonderful today pre-op!! He was friendly, funny and interactive!! That makes 3 times I saw him pre-op- kutia never saw Dr.J pre or post!!! I feel very fortunate!!! I now can get healthier, thinner and move on without the daily obsession of weight loss and doing more about it!!:clap2:

As usual everyone was post holiday- not rembering my birthday. My family and I celebrated. Only friends: Amy and Rhonda remembered. My good friend Diane forgot me!! Now new years resolutions can start. Always have to wait until after my birthday cake!!

1-30-07

Had worst ever PB!! six of us at resturant, Pork again! Ribs this time. emesis x4 over an hour at the resturant- 3 of those in the bushes at the front:eek: No one saw me/that i saw thankfully. Papaya enzyme saved me and a small glass of warm water once I got home. I now keep those tabs in my purse. I stayed liquid for 2 days. Tried edamame and raw cabbage salad today and a few bites of beef stew- NO! Stuck and PB at work! Alone thankfully. currently am waiting for my papaya enzyeme and warm tea to help- Im in misery! Im ready to give up eating!! Im under emense stress-(PR, daily with those people, recep gone and my schedule is a wreck 26-30perday.) I am going to have to learn to CHEW CHEW CHEW!! Possibly I need to learn to start with tea first then try eating.

My hair loss has increased. Kinda scarey BUT I will take it. I will no longer complain at losing slow.... I do not have a slipped band like one of the sept bandsters has already experienced. I will go slow, do a great job and be appreciative that my band and I are getting along!! Thankful every day that my band is here!!

Still holding steady at 186. My clothes fit differently but no huge weight loss. Maybe eating too much. (7 fried shrimp for lunch today) too may liquid calories from liquor at pharmaceutical dinners. FEAR getting too tight and losing band if I pb or have slippage. I am going in for fill 3-30. Dr. Hamn scared me by saying too may pokes into port can make it leak- so I need to go for fill by am afraid. No one at work suspicious of wt loss since it has been so slow!! Pork is still not a friendly food. Chicken has to be drenched in sauce to eat so I avoid it.

I got a fill today. I had 1cc last fill and Dr. Hamn could only pull out 0.5cc today. He said that happens. He put 0.5cc in so my total is 1.5cc. I was so suprised, unhappy, embarrassed that I had not lost any weight!! His scale is 7-8 pounds heavier than my home scale- its relative to what you weigh on I guess. His scale said 198 shoes and clothes on, mine said 191-190 naked. Buckle down and work harder! Eat less and exercise more. I probably need to log calories and exercise on fit day!! He suggested eat veggie, salad, meat in that order. Go around the plate eating that way. Will make protein go down easier. chew chew chew!!

Had a junk weekend since at the quail lease with the guys. Not volume just not quality. Weighed today 194#, 2# gone this week. Gonna start going back to the gym!!

First PB tonight- ate spaghetti too fast. Had an entire weekend with ESA and not one problem eating!! I was careful!! Last wed 11-9-06 had my first sliming- Pork got stuck!! Yuck- painful LONG experience. Golfball feeling every 4-5 days if I eat too fast. Im doing better with a group of people slowing down- still a problem at home slowing down!!

Im glad journaling is back!! 5-28-07

The journal ability was gone for awhile. Since then Ive had a fill and consider myself at a sweet spot. I frequently get 3-4 bitee syndrome especially if im really hungry. It has been a SLOW weight loss but I will take it!! I was not successful prior to my band- especially since It took so long then also. My current insurance does not cover fills so at 250 per fill I wont be trial and error with fill levels. I will stay parked at 2cc. Ive read thru my journal and cant help but laugh at the early days. Still get the golf ball. still havent learned to slow down every time, still LOVE my band. still no bread! no PB in a month or so!! MAYBE im learning!!

I had a good week last week. I was able to manage food without overeating. I am still drinking slimfast for breakfast and once during the day. My weight did not drop still 194 but my measurements are all down by 2-3 inches!! Thrilled with that. I am now on soft solids or solids pulsed in the food processor to guage bite size. Overall i am very pleased.

Fired Endocrinologist last wed. She was a total bitch to me and told me I was fooling myself. When I told her I had the band and not losing as fast as I feel I should and asked if she was open to med changes- she said I told you it wouldnt work. She told me didnt matter lo carb or not cal=cal. Then criticized my exercise time of day and lack of low enough carbs. Told her you just said cal=cal doesnt matter or does it? Well bitch I didnt tell you I was getting a band until just now so piss off. BGF changed my thryroid meds to synthroid and cytomel, back on low carb, stopped effexor 1month or so. lost 3ish pounds this week so Ill take it!!

Had my first fill. Didnt hurt just stung when they numbed it. I drank the entire 6oz of water in less than 5 minutes. Hopefully I will notice some restriction. However I have to learn to slow down when eating!! Met several very nice people in the waiting room while the fill clinic was going.

Had a good week with the fill. No more golfball or PB. Am slowly getting the fact of MUST SLOW DOWN. Its worst when Im hungry and I start eating too fast. If I eat smaller meals 5 times, I dont have any trouble. Thanksgiving is this week; Im thankful for my band!!!! I love every thing about it!!

On full solids, can eat pretty much anything. Except breads like bisquits, pancakes, anything fluffy! I received some M&M's for komen support Ill be glad when they are gone!! My intake is limited- but my sweet tooth is alive and well!! Hopefully soon I will get a fill.

Skating and Journal Opening

Skated today with divanita2006 and Kutia. Had a GREAT time! We laughed, skated and got to meet face to face!! We plan to go Sept 24th to Ducanville. I started this journal at the urging of divanita and Kutia. Got Approval 8/18/06 wt 233 Surgery sched 9/14/06 wt 213

Had my yearly physical and all went well, The blood work was 100% normal- even Tg and Lipid panel!!!!!!:clap2: Today my FIRST NSV!!! A patients mom said- "you are going to disappear before long" I wanted to squeal and hug her neck. SHE IS THE FIRST PERSON TO NOTICE AND SAY SOMETHING!!!!:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: My day is MADE!!

FINALLY seeing some weight loss (186 TODAY). Not sure if it is low carb or change in thyroid meds. I'll take it either way!! minus 4 pounds in the last 2 weeks. Still feel like I have fairly good restriction. HAVE to eat slowly!!

catch up since journal offline for 2 weeks

Sore post op day #2. Went to Tom Thumb forced myself to get out. Post op day #3 went to the mall. Have no real pain!! Doing great. Post op day #5 Tuesday back to work. Had a light day good transition. One week of liquid and I am hungry. I started thicker liquids. Tuesday 9/26 had pharm dinner. Started mushies. soup, salmon, mashed potatoes, cheesecake. Tiny amounts of each Can feel the food going from upper pouch to lower stomach!! No nausea. See Dr. Hamn Thurs for 2 week follow-up. Am going to go crazy if mushies not allowed!!

2 week f/u

Had my two week f/u. Kinda disappointed- he doesnt call it mushies, full liquid, but I can have oatmeal, soup with crackers- "cracker paste" consistency, for 3 more weeks. After that then regular food that has been pulsed in the processor to guage bite size. Then 2 weeks after that if im not losing, chewing on my own, then fill. All my incisions are healing nicely. No pills larger than ASA. My port still tender especially with waisted pants.

Well.... my good girl friend found out thru my medical record from endocrine that I had lap band. She claimed hurt- I explained it was because she was not supportive and called it the easy way out that she did not get the priviledge of knowing. All seems well, she is obsessive with low carb she will get over not knowing of my lapband. she wasnt there for my hyst why would she think she would be there for my lapband. I am fearful of my 3rd fill since Dr Hamn told me repeated poking can wear out the port, AND I dont want to be too tight and risk a slippage. I rescheduled from 3/30 to 4/20- I know that will slow down my loss but Im ok with that.

9/30/06

So desperate- and soooo not worth it. We went to movies, popcorn smelled wonderful- soaked a few pieces in my mouth the took it out- did not swallow popcorn since im still on liquids. Sooo salty. After the movie we went to IHOP. Had one egg over easy and grits- Both allowed. Grits were wonderful buttery and smooth. Holy shit!!! From 0400 to 0800 had horrific pain between my shoulder blades, nausea, pain- Im sure it was my gallbladder. After 2 weeks on liquids it said no no no to any fat!!! NOT AGAIN FOR A WHILE!!

I was feeling down about only loosing 4# in dec challenge with the sept bandsters. However- Lets look at the positive: I did not gain over christmas, never have I lost between Oct and Dec ever! I am going to have a fill next week. I have mixed emotions since I either do 100% fine or get stuck in the first 4 bites, slime and occassionally PB. I am going to only request .2-.3cc and then buckle down on my intake and increase my exercise.

Called Terry at the office and she told me the pain is from drinking too fast or if it gets severe (like sat pm) its my gall bladder. She said not a slip since that requires vomiting. I am eating gas x, rolaids.
