Starting my journey

Ok so this will prob be a long post, but well, I got alot to say. In Jan I decided to call my insurance ( our hospital had rec been bought out ) and see if they covered WLS. I almost ran off the road when I was told they do!!! Of course you had to meet some criteria 1) been overwt for at least 5 years.....check. 2) tried and failed wt loss on my own.....check 3) done a 6 month physician diet ...hmmmm not sure If I actually went once a month for six months. So I go home all excited and tell DH all about it. Then I pick a facility close to home and print off all the information I can find on it. Next day I wake up and think....hmm wonder if this Dr is covered by our insurance ( sure should have thought of that first ) So I go on the web site and of course not but I print a list of Dr's who are covered. There are two about 2 hours from where I live and I spend the next 3 days researching them. So I call the insurance and I am told my insurance states that I have to use one of their hospitals or its no deal. After a very long time on the phone I find out that there is only one anywhere near me ( my hospital is based out of Florida and I live in Oklahoma ) It is in Dallas Tx which is about 5 hours from me. DH says thats fine he doesn't mind. So I get up the nerve and call to sched a consult and they are soooo nice!! :rolleyes2: I talk with the coord who tells me since I live so far away it would be great if I could get all my stuff together before hand and then they will do all the pre-op in one day for me so I won't have to make so many trips down. ok that is all out of the way but now I have to talk to my PCP and see if she is willing to do the 6 month monitor thing for me and help set up all my other appts. ( psych and nutritionist ) She is amazing when I go see her and totally supportive of me getting the band. I'm a little nervous and she says hey if people have high blood pressure don't they take medicine to help. Why should you feel bad about getting the band to help you be healthier? hmmm good question. So now I'm all set. First weigh in out of the way and she will be calling me in a few days to give me my other appts!!! Ok so I think I might really be on my way to BANDLAND!!! lol :cursing:

Really??

Ok so I go in a week and a half for my second weigh in and I am down 4 lbs!!! Which I know seems like it should be great news but its not!! I am right on the bubble for being at a 40 BMI ( which is what I must be to be approved for surgery ) and if I have it figured out right I can only lose 10lbs in the 6 months or else......no surgery. WTC!! I can't believe I am actually mad because I am losing wt. lol It's a first for me. My DH has decided I might just be crazy with all the ranting I have been doing in the last few days. :tt2: On another note I was sure my Dr was going to have my appts made for me by now but I haven't heard anything from the office. I'm not really sure how long it takes to get in to see a nutritionist or psych or what the appt is all about but I am really ready to check those two things off my list. I'm also hoping that with the kids ball season starting it will help the time pass faster!!!
