2010-Finding the Woman Within!

Questions and Doubts?

:confused:When I question and doubt myself, I have to think about in the utter stillness of a cavern deep underground, a single drop of water falls onto the surface of a small pond and then another and then another and another. With time, the pond swells until the entire chamber is underwater. Doubt enters our lives in the same way~one drop at a time.   When we experience disappointment, it is natural to have questions and doubts. If I have a rough week with challenges and don't do exactly as I planned and stay to the foods on my list, I get disappointed in myself and let myself down, then comes the blame, the questions about why did I even do this? and why don't I just quit? And I doubt myself on this journey. And if we are all honest I believe we all feel this way at some point or other. But I WILL NOT give in to doubts and fears because I bring my fears, questions and doubts to God. He helps me to resolve them all. It may take longer than I expect to get the answer for my questions, but they always come, in his time. I am so thankful for his abiding love.   Psalm 94:19NLT When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer.   God I bring my questions and doubts to you, and I trust that you will sustain me, for my hope is in you. Exercising The all Important Factor in weight loss and Life!!!

:ohmy:EXERCISE!   OH HOW I HATED TO EXERCISE, AND EVEN NOW I HAVE TO PUSH MYSELF BEYOND MY COMFORT ZONES!   BUT~~~~~EXERCISE IS THE ALL IMPORTANT FACTOR IN TAKING OFF THE ADDED WEIGHT OF THE YEARS!   FOR WOMEN, HAVING BABIES PUTS ON WEIGHT FOR SOME AND THEY NEVER CAN PUSH ENOUGH TO GET IT OFF(FOR ME~AND FOR SOME THEY ARE A SIZE 2 RIGHT AFTER) YOU ARE BUSY WITH THE BABY AND JUST ABOUT FORGET YOURSELF.   FOR OLDER WOMEN, THE AGE AND SLOWING DOWN DUE TO AGING HAPPENS, AND IT DOES NOT SEEM WORTH THE EFFORT JUST TO LOOK GOOD!   :tongue_smilie:BUT IT IS NOT JUST ABOUT LOOKING GOOD! IT IS ABOUT FEELING GOOD. AND LIVING LONGER HEALTHIER LIVES.   :w00t:TWO MONTHS AFTER BEING BANDED, I JOINED A GYM, WENT OUT ON A LIMB AND PAID FOR THE ENTIRE YEAR(GOT A NICE DISCOUNT TOO) I KNEW I WOULD GO IF I PAID AND NOT LOSE THE MONEY!!LOL   :w00t:I WAS SO UNSURE OF MYSELF, DID NOT KNOW A THING ABOUT ANY OF THE MACHINES EXCEPT THE TREADMILL AND THE BICYCLES! BUT THE GYM OWNER WAS A PERSONAL TRAINER AND HE SET ME UP WITH A CARD AND A ROUTINE! SO FEELING LIKE AN IDIOT, I GOT INTO SOME GYM SWEATS AND GOT STARTED. THAT WAS 4 1/2 MOS AGO.   :wub:TODAY I FEEL SO MUCH BETTER! I DO NOT BREAK OUT IN A SWEAT EACH TIME I GO TO THE GYM, I DO ABOUT 45 MIN TOTAL TIME ABOUT THREE TIMES A WEEK. I GET IN 10 OR 15 MIN ON THE TREADMILL TO WARM UP AND THEN HIT THE WEIGHT RESISTANCE MACHINES. I AM WORKING HARD ON THE ABDOMEN RIGHT NOW, THE UPPER ARMS(SO THEY WON'T BE TOO FLABBY FROM THE WEIGHT LOSS, AND THE INNER AND OUTER THIGHS TOO) I STARTED WITH 15 LBS OF WEIGHTS AND I AM UP TO 60 & 75 LBS ON MOST ALL THE MACHINES NOW. BUILDING MUSCLE, IT DOES WEIGH MORE THAN FAT AND LAST MONTH I GAINED INCHES FROM THE ADDED MUSCLE BUT LOST A FEW LBS TOO. THIS MONTH I AM DOING THE SAME THING. SO I AM NOT DROPPING THE WEIGHT AS FAST AS I DID TO START WITH! SO WHAT, THE INCHES I HAVE LOST ALREADY AND THE LBS ARE SUFFICIENT FOR NOW, AND AS I BUILD MUSCLE, IT WILL IN TURN SPEED UP MY METABOLISM TO HELP MY BODY ATTACK AND BURN FAT!   :smile2:MAY I JUST SAY "I LOVE MY GYM" THE FOLKS THERE ARE SO HELPFUL, YET THEY LEAVE YOU ALONE TO YOUR WORK. I MET AN OLD HIGH SCHOOL FRIEND WHO HELPS ME NOW, HE WAS IN "MR. WORLD" CHAMPIONSHIPS AND PLAYED FOOTBALL IN SCHOOL, STILL LOOKS GREAT AT 57, STILL IN SHAPE AND STILL LIFTING WEIGHTS. AGING IS SLOWED DOWN BY THOSE WHO EXERCISE ON A REGULAR BASIS~IT IS PROVEN IT HELPS ARTHRITIS, ETC. GOOD AND HEART HEALTHY, START SOME TODAY.   EVEN IF YOU CAN'T OR WON'T BE JOINING A GYM, START WALKING THREE TIMES A WEEK FOR 30 TO 45 MIN. AT THE TIME, DOING SOME FLOOR EXERCISES, (THE KIND WE USED TO DO IN THE SCHOOL GYM WHEN WE WERE YOUNG) JUMP ROPE, JOG, WHATEVER YOU CAN DO TO GET MOVING, YOU WILL WATCH A CHANGE TAKING PLACE IN HOW YOU FEEL AND LOOK AND HOW THE SCALES LOOK BACK AT YOU!   I PROMISE! DON'T LEAVE THIS ALL IMPORTANT FACTOR IN WEIGHT LOSS OUT OF YOUR LIFE, GET THE MOST FROM YOUR LAP-BAND® SURGERY!:smile::thumbup::tt1::tt1:

.1 CC is all I Got~Could it be I am at my SWEET SPOT???

:confused:well that is it! I have hit the spot with my LapBand that I am not needing any fills for awhile. I have good restriction and even tho I am still losing weight, I can eat a good amount of food and fluids to be satisfied! Now I have to relax and let the band help me, and make food choices that are good and low carb, and continue to exercise! I went in for a fill, weight and measurement appointment yesterday 6 mos and 11 days post band. I am down 71 lbs! Yeahhhhh! I also lost an inch and a half from my waist and inch in the bust, and other inches in the calves and thighs and upper arms. I could only get in .1cc. The Doctor put in .5cc's and had to remove it all but the .1cc, I was refluxing back up in the esphogus! My band is staying tight! That means I am not stretching it out by eating foods that will do that or overeating! I was a little disgusted with myself and disappointed that I had not lost more weight this month, but he said I will not drop as much because the ratio of weight I have to lose now in proportion to my excess body weight is just right, and this will allow my skin to tighten. So I have decided to be happy for now, and content to just continue on the Journey with the Lapband for life. Over a period of five years, you will lose weight on the LapBand if you eat right and exercise. That will be me! I am committed! I went shopping today and bought some BCBG jeans in a size 14 regular! And a top BCBG in a medium! I love to shop now! I don't have to wear the X's anymore or the W's! I am in a whole new department! Again did I say I LOVE IT!!!!!~~~~~~Don't stop short of the program, eat right, not too much, five small meals a day and at least 30 minutes of exercise three times a week for life!!!!!:thumbup:

Lacking the Courage to Start?

:biggrin: If you lack the courage to start, you are already finished! I love this saying and it is so true. We must get started, and if we have started and get off track, the courage to start over again. I have been up and down two lbs since Oct. 28th, It is down again, but I think that the exercise program I have started is building muscle and that could weigh more. I want Onderland by Christmas and that is my goal now. A little present to myself. start weight 256 todays weight 210 Surgery Date July 29, 2009:thumbup:

Said Goodbye to My LapBand Doctor today!

:thumbup:He is leaving! Better job offer in Missouri, can't blame him, but sure will miss him. He will always be remembered! He actually helped me save my life! And it has only changed for the better because he cared enough to help me get the LapBand AP. Down another 3 lbs this week, the lbs are coming off again. The fill last time was a little tight, but I am glad I did not rush in and get anything taken out, I just worked with it, liquids, soft foods and smaller amounts more frequently. So it worked and I have adjusted and the weight is leaving. One of my LapBand buddies just had to have all of her fluid removed today due to lots of issues and an ER visit and lots of throwing up from the flu! The Pollen is so bad I am having problems with that! It is awful here in the Panhandle of Florida! The weather is so beautiful tho! It is truly springtime~and I am looking forward to the next pants size down from where I am at! Instead of lbs, I am goaling for the clothing sizes! Then I don't watch the scales so much! I am thinking of going on Adkins Diet for a month and getting back into Ketosis for a spell, that really helped me before! Well tomorrow is the Memorial for the last friend who has passed away, 57 years old! After that, No MORE Lord, my nerves are shot! Good News a friend gets to go home tomorrow after a stay in rehab for a stroke he is 49 yrs old. People hear me stay with this program and take off the weight, not only look and feel better but stay alive and healthy! It is worth it all! God Bless and Keep you.:tongue_smilie:

Vacation Time~ Losing Weight Right On!

Well this year for our 31st Anniversary (which is today!) I planned a trip to the mountains with lots of streneous activity~ and not what you are thinking! LOL We went to Sky Valley GA, the highest mountain in GA only to find 10-12 inches of white snow on the ground! I made a real snow man and crowned him with an FSU Cap! This Florida Girl had a ball, I went out to eat, cooked in the Cabin, and even ate cake! But~~~~~~I increased my level of daily activity, and that is what it all boils down to, eating less, doing more and watching the scales drop and the clothes sizes too! I just love the fact that I have lost over 20 inches in my hips! I have only lost 2 inches in my boobs!!!! So~~~~maybe no boob job will be necessary! Anyway if you have your choice???My husband is happy about that anyway! LOL "HAPPY ST. PATRICKS DAY EVERYONE" LOTS OF LUCK ON YOUR JOURNEY!:eek::biggrin:

Sweet Spot is here today~so good for me no fill today!!!

:smile:Well, it is finally here, no need for a fill. I am eating correctly, (according to my Dr.) Not eating things that would streach my band out, losing about 5 lbs a month now (after the 6th month, I have slowed down, was losing 10 or more lbs per month) I did not feel that I should have a fill due to the amount of restriction I have with the band right now. I did get measured and have lost another inch and a half in my waist which is wonderful for me! Now that I know that is still a problem area for me, cause I can fit into pants that are smaller sizes if I can zip them up! My stomach was big at least 4 times in my life due to the children I carried there! Not complaining! Glad to be a MOM! And now a Grandmother too. Just would like to get into a good size 12 and not have a problem zipping them up.:cursing: Happy Mothers Day to ALL!
 

Two Deaths in the Family in One Week! Stress!!! It is really affecting my attitude!

STRESS AFFECTS MY ATTITUDE AND MY APPETITE! I GET SO OUT OF CONTROL WHEN I SUFFER OR SEE OTHERS SUFFER. I THINK THAT FOOD HAS BEEN MY COMFORT FOR SO LONG, THAT WHEN I AM SAD, I WANT TO EAT AND NOT JUST FOOD, SWEETS! I KNOW THEY ARE GOING TO SABATOGE MY DIET PLAN, BUT THEY CALL TO ME WITH COMFORT. IT IS REALLY HARD, IS ANYONE ELSE EXPERIENCING THESE FEELINGS? I AM SO FULL TONIGHT, I HURT! IT SURE FELT GOOD GOING DOWN THO!:frown:UNHAPPY WITH MYSELF NOW AND FEELING GUILTY.

Pizza is not Passing Through Anymore! NOOOOOOO!

:frown: It's official. After the fifth fill I am too tight for Pizza! So I am deliberating with having a little unfill. Not that I love Pizza and have to have it or anything like that, but with an episode in the parking lot at Wal-Mart with everyone around, and no where to let it out, trying to hold it in until I get into the restroom and can't OMG was I ever so embarrassed! Well then when I did get inside, I had to visit the Bathroom again! ONLY ONE PIECE TOO! The salad I had enjoyed stayed, the Pizza did not! I had only had liquids for breakfast and it was 4:20 PM so I decided to eat with my husband out tonight. So much for the romantic ending! I came home and made some Lumpia Roll mix (like an egg roll) I was still hungry and so I ate a small bowl of the hot filling, cabbage carrots, onions, hamburger meat, and chopped green beans, etc. Very good. When I am at home and relaxed, everything goes very well, when I eat out, watch out! Are we LapBanders so different that we can't eat out anymore, or not very well anyway? I am fast discovering this so I will order small from thence forth. I may have a slight unfill on June 4th, haven't actually made up my mind yet, but maybe!:sad:
 

My dress didn't fit, but that's OK!

:eek:Not because I did not lose the weight, but because they made it WRONG! I feel so much better, it was only 5 inches off!   I don't think staying in the gym for two weeks would make any difference in the fit. 5 inches is a lot to reduce in a week, then it still would just fit!   So off shopping I go tomorrow! Looking for that perfect dress for the wedding.   It will be an experience! I plan to have a good day with my daughter. I love her so much! She has a lot to learn in life, but I hope she goes about life with an open mind, there is so much to soak in!   Still trying to get that protein in! Going to cook a steak and have dinner with my hubby!:thumbup:

Stay in God's Presence~Win ALL the Battles you face in life!

:rolleyes:Well yes, Staying in God's Presence, that is the answer my friends. He helps us make all the important decisions in life if we will just rely on him and LET him help us.   The Word says that if we abide in the presence of God, He will defeat our enemies, and hide us in the day of trouble. God's attention is on us, but we must keep our attention on Him to enjoy the fullness of His presence in our lives. We must invite God to be involved in everything we do, and then remember to praise Him for His goodness.   And now shall my head be lifted up above my enemies round about me; in His tent I will offer sacrifices and shouting of joy; I will sing praises of the Lord. Psalm 27:6   My lesson from this today has opened my eyes, I know that there is not a battle I can NOT win or you either if we stay in his presence.   I struggle with obesity! Even with the bands help, we need God's help everyday to live with this in our lives. People will try to sway you, your decisions, your efforts. There is jelousy to deal with, anger management, and we are impatient, but God is in our favor and in control. Praying for a peaceful day for all.:smile:

Back to the Basics for a Bandster!

:thumbup: Well what can I say? I have to try to focus now as I am getting back to the basics! LOW CARB diets work for a person with the band. I want to lose about 15 lbs more before my daughters wedding in October. So I started on Low Carbs or almost NO Carbs yesterday for three days, that tends to work to get me into Ketosis. I checked my urine this morning after one day, and absolutely NO ketosis there! HA, what a waste of a Keto-strip. But just another day or two or after the weekend, I will try it again! I want to just burn fat really burn it up from now until 10-10-10. My daughter and I have to order our dresses for the wedding soon so they have time to arrive, I am going to get one size larger than I need and PRAY I have to take it in. The hardest part of getting back to the basics is sticking to the plan, but I will do it! My husband is working this weekend so that makes it easier for me cause I don't cook then. I am going to hit the Gym tomorrow too! Gonna be a good productive day! God Bless You all, have a great weekend!:thumbup:

I have submitted a couple of my own recipes and they have been accepted and published! Crab Tomato Soup and Asparagus Crab Delight try them. I have one good eating day and then a bad day, don't know why but I do!
