Restriction is RESTRICTING!

Well, I have certainly gotten to the SWEET SPOT and STAYING THERE! Takes awhile in the mornings to get OPENED up enough to allow the solid food intake!   I did have a peice of Lemon Pie (well 1/2 pc) today for Mothers Day. My family took me out to eat, and I felt like I wasted their money. Could not eat but about two bites of each thing or so! I was full, waited for awhile and was able to eat 1/2 pc of pie. It was all very delicious but I have become a SLOW eater and feel like I am PUSHED to eat when I look around the table and some are already on the third plate, mine is getting cold, and I can NOT swallow until I have chewed really good and I think they are looking at me. Anyone else have this problem? I eat really good at home, get everything written down or know what I can eat and keep only those things so I do better at home.   Hope all Had a Wonderful Mothers Day! Back from Alaska and ready to get down to business! Losing weight is an everyday JOB!

I do love to travel and ALASKA was the best yet!   We cruised on the Norwegian Pearl to Juneau, Skagway and Ketchikan, then to Victoria BC and then to Seattle, WA for a couple of days.   Discovered I have one good day to eat and then it is followed by a bad day. The motion of the ship did not help either even tho it was ever so gentle, I think it affected my digestion with this band. I ate good, just not like the rest of my group I was with. I HAVE to have the time to eat slowly and we were always going to Bingo or to something NEXT! I did get a couple of nice peices of art at the Art Auctions and drank the free Champagne!   I was always full and satisfied, I had carried onboard my protein shakes and made sure to have one evey day. I had LOTS of energy and it is a good thing, because the Pearl is a very Big ship and we must have walked two to three miles every day! My legs were sore! It was TOO COLD on this cruise to even think about the pool or the Hot tubs even tho people were in them! I could never have let go of the towel or robe to get in! The wind had a chill in it!   The scenery and the rich history of Alaska was so interesting and the views of the Mountains, glaciers and the different way of life was so facinating. I wish the trip was longer. Now it is back to work for me! Both on the job, the gym and the diet. I did not gain any weight but then I did not lose either, it seems to be this way when I cruise. Not sure of how they prepare the foods, but tried to eat lots of fish and seafoods this time and salads! The fruit was good but no strawberries except once.   I bought some really good blueberries in Pikes Market Place in Seattle, WA I love that place, the prettiest flowers. Drank lots of coffee and I know I shouldn't (black tho no additives) and there is a Starbucks on every corner. LOL Had a donut at Top Pot Yummy and found the Five Points Cafe in Seattle to be the best little restaurant and bar open 24/7 since 1929! Check it out if you ever go to Seattle. Went up in the Space Needle! Walked a LOT in Seattle! Took the Double Decker a couple of times and the Monorail once. Had a wonderful break. Missed you all and my Facebook friends too. Glad to be home.
 

Heading North to ALASKA! Cruise Time has arrived!

:cool:I selected the "Cool" Symbol, cause it is NOT going to be in the 80's in ALASKA! My first time cruising there, and I AM SO EXCITED!   I am not so FAT anymore, so I AM White Water Rafting out to the Glaciers!!!! YEAH!   What fun this trip is going to be because of the BAND! Down 82 lbs and looking for the last 18 lbs to go (or more) in the next four months! My first year with the BAND. Sometimes it is difficult and get into that woe is me syndrom, where I am sad that I can't eat something or MORE of something that I really love! But I look back and that is what got me to where I was when I had the BAND procedure! I thank God I am restricted, Behavior Modification takes a lot of time! That is what I have~time, and I WILL change for the better with it and you will tooooo! So HAPPY FOR ALL OF US BANDSTERS! Have a great day all!:smile:
 

Sweet Spot is here today~so good for me no fill today!!!

:smile:Well, it is finally here, no need for a fill. I am eating correctly, (according to my Dr.) Not eating things that would streach my band out, losing about 5 lbs a month now (after the 6th month, I have slowed down, was losing 10 or more lbs per month) I did not feel that I should have a fill due to the amount of restriction I have with the band right now. I did get measured and have lost another inch and a half in my waist which is wonderful for me! Now that I know that is still a problem area for me, cause I can fit into pants that are smaller sizes if I can zip them up! My stomach was big at least 4 times in my life due to the children I carried there! Not complaining! Glad to be a MOM! And now a Grandmother too. Just would like to get into a good size 12 and not have a problem zipping them up.:cursing: Happy Mothers Day to ALL!
 

And Monday Morning is coming soon! The start of a new week!

Oh Well Monday Monday come on down. Sunday was a good and relaxing day for me today.   I weighed yesterday morning and I was down a total of 6 lbs for the week, then back up a lb this morning. So I'll be happy with a 5 lb loss at this stage in the game.   Eight months have passed and I am down 82 lbs so far so good. Next week I will get focused and back on the exercise equipment at the gym.   Going to Alaska on a cruise in two weeks, I can hardly wait! This is the one I have wanted for several years. It is 38 degrees at night! Burrrr! 50's in the daytime and rain some days forcast! No worries I have my FrogTogs and UnderArmour and I am READY TO GO! Losing this weight could not have come at a better time for me! I am ready to take on the World and see a good deal of it!   I tried on some 10s and 12s and can fit them pretty good, that is the size I feel I will end up with. I can be happy there, since I was in 24W's and some 26 W's. I get a fill and measured on the 6th of May! I have a LOT of restriction, so I am debating the fill. We'll see. Ready for some happy times in my life and NO more Deaths and saddness. Have a good week all!:thumbup:
 

Misery comes in THREES!

We are sad this evening as we lost my husbands father at 4:40 PM. He was 88 years old and had a long and very interesting life, lots of children and grandchildren and we feel he is in a better place. As we struggle with this tonight, I realized that when I stress, I can NOT swallow food very well so it is harder for me to get any nutrients in. So tomorrow I will go to liquids until I calm down and relax. The LapBand life if one we learn and live on a day to day basis. May not get to be on here for a few days, so please send up a prayer or two for our family! Thanks to my Lapband friends!:biggrin:

A better day~A better Way!

:w00t: Well today was a better day! Thank God I have the LapBand! I got up in a determined mood to get back on track and I did! Sundays are always really hard for me because after Church I have to take my mother out to Lunch. She is a resident in a really nice Assisted Living Facility but I like to be with her on Sundays and take her out for something special.   It was good today, I had control of my life today! I made good food choice decisions and feel like I am on track again, NO MORE BIG BROWNIES, like last Friday! I feel a good restriction now and believe I am at the Sweet Spot! I am glad that my skin is not wrinkled bad, and the elasticity is good! I must resume my Gym Classes next week too, gotten off there due to the added work load of taking care of elderly parents and getting them cared for! It will all even out again soon, I just know it. Every Day is different, every day a bit better with the LapBand~the Better Way!:biggrin:

The Power of Protein~Down 4 lbs this week!

:smile2:I just knew it would work and it did! There is Power in Protein! Got to love it! Lost 4 lbs this week and got one more day to go. Gonna hit a good state of Ketosis in a day or so. Stick to Protein for three to four days, it will KILL your cravings for Sweets! It works!:wink2:

A fresh baked Brownie had my name written all over it!

:smile2:Ok I had been such a good girl all week! Didn't I deserve that fresh baked brownie? I walked in to a friends house to visit, and she offered the brownie! No, I said! I'll just take water~I am thirsty. Thinking that if I sipped on the water I would get full and not desire that delicious smelling brownie coming from her kitchen. Then she tells me that she put fresh walnuts in them, OMG my mouth is watering! But all week I had gone on High protein and I was to kill my desire for Sweets by doing that!!!! Darn Friends that don't want you to succeed. They want us to be FAT! They are jealous, but they don't control us ~or do they? Ok the night moves on, and here it come, "Why don't you take a couple of these Brownies home to your husband? I am sure he would love some sweets, you probably don't bake much anymore!" The nerve of some people, truth is, I took the brownies and ate one on the way home!!!!! It was Sooooo good, and later, I was soooooo mad with myself, but now I know what to do, say NO NO NO Thanks! This is a real day to day learning process and a curve ball is coming you way and from almost every angle, so get ready and fight back! That is what I am going to do if ever in that situation again, but I got up the next day, A new Day, shook myself off and ate small portions of everything, hope that by tomorrow I will still have maintained my 4 lb loss this week, only 22 to go to 100 lbs, by July 29th, 2010 My Bandiversary!:wink2:

Going ALL PROTEIN for Three to Four Days! Shakin it up!

Got to Shake it Up Baby~Twist and Shout!!!! Going ALL PROTEIN FOR THREE OR FOUR DAYS TO GET THIS OLE BODY BACK INTO KETOSIS! I WANT A LEAN MEAN FAT BURNING MACHINE! With a new lapband fill and it is tight now, it is helping me a lot, but without being in Ketosis, (fat burning mode) I am craving sweets and salty foods, so it is back to the basics for me (again)! 1,000 calories per day and all protein too! That will do it! When I get into Ketosis, I will gradually add carbs to the (meager 20 grams ~ususally the milk w/my Whey Protein Shakes) diet up to 50 per day and stay there. I need a 20 lbs loss of weight over the next three months and I am going to get there! Exercising too at least three times per week! Got to get Persistant and Consistant! That is the plan, here I go! Oh and I have my handy measuring tools for portion size right where I can reach them! Beach weather is here and it is beautiful in the Panhandle of Florida! Got to wait till May to Swim though because the Jellyfish are everywhere! Ewwwwe!:tongue_smilie:

Said Goodbye to My LapBand Doctor today!

:thumbup:He is leaving! Better job offer in Missouri, can't blame him, but sure will miss him. He will always be remembered! He actually helped me save my life! And it has only changed for the better because he cared enough to help me get the LapBand AP. Down another 3 lbs this week, the lbs are coming off again. The fill last time was a little tight, but I am glad I did not rush in and get anything taken out, I just worked with it, liquids, soft foods and smaller amounts more frequently. So it worked and I have adjusted and the weight is leaving. One of my LapBand buddies just had to have all of her fluid removed today due to lots of issues and an ER visit and lots of throwing up from the flu! The Pollen is so bad I am having problems with that! It is awful here in the Panhandle of Florida! The weather is so beautiful tho! It is truly springtime~and I am looking forward to the next pants size down from where I am at! Instead of lbs, I am goaling for the clothing sizes! Then I don't watch the scales so much! I am thinking of going on Adkins Diet for a month and getting back into Ketosis for a spell, that really helped me before! Well tomorrow is the Memorial for the last friend who has passed away, 57 years old! After that, No MORE Lord, my nerves are shot! Good News a friend gets to go home tomorrow after a stay in rehab for a stroke he is 49 yrs old. People hear me stay with this program and take off the weight, not only look and feel better but stay alive and healthy! It is worth it all! God Bless and Keep you.:tongue_smilie:

Worst Comes to Worst!

More bad news, my daughter who was planning the happiest day of her life had to face the loss of her best friend and future mother in law Rita from a massive heart attack on the 23rd of March. Still reeling from this shock, today she found her future father in law, dead. A suicide letter to her and his children.   I have been so worried about her she is only 24, next weekend is her birthday and now this to deal with. 2010 was to be a happy year for her, and OMG the stress is unbelievable! I hope that I don't stop eating or start eating and can't stop. For those of you who are praying people, please pray!:thumbup:

Keeping Busy~Great Restiction since Last Fill! Tight!

:scared2:WELL I ASKED FOR IT AND I GOT IT, I HAD COMPLAINED TO MY NURSE AND SHE TOLD MY DR. I WANTED MORE FILL THIS TIME! WELL I GOT IT, AND IT IS TIGHT! I WOULD THINK THAT I WOULD BE DROPPING THE LBS, BUT I AM NOT. YET ANYWAY. EASTER BLEW A WHOLE IN MY DIET STRATEGY. A LITTLE TASTE OF THIS AND A LITTLE TASTE OF THAT, ONE CHOCOLATE EASTER EGG, THEN ANOTHER, THEN CANDY WITH THE GRANDBABIES, THEN A LITTLE SODA, WHICH I HAVE NOT TOUCHED IN 8 MOS, WHAT GOT INTO ME? WTH WAS I THINKING? I DO HATE TO GET OFF A GOOD PLAN WHEN IT IS WORKING. BUT YOU KNOW WHAT? LIFE HAPPENS! I HAVE ABOUT DECIDED NOT TO WEIGH EVERY DAY, (BUT I CAN'T HELP MYSELF) I AM ADDICTED TO THAT PRACTICE. I AM NOT GOING TO GET CAUGHT UP IN THE RESULTS THOUGH. I HAVE BEEN HOLDING FLUIDS, CAUSE MY FEET HAVE BEEN SWELLED THAT PAST FEW DAYS AND I HAVE BEEN GETTING IN MORE WATER AND WENT TO THE GYM TODAY FOR EXERCISE, WHICH I HAVE SLACKED ON TOO, IT SEEMS LATELY THERE IS NOT ENOUGH TIME IN THE DAY FOR "ME":angry: AND I AM NOT HAPPY ABOUT THAT. WORK, TAKING CARE OF MY MOM, (SHE IS ALZHEIMERS AND JUST PUT IN AN ASSISTED LIVING WHICH IS VERY POSH AND SHE IS COMPLAINING:ohmy:WHAT TO DO? I SPEND LOTS OF TIME THERE, I WANT TO RUN BY SEE HER AND THEN HIT THE GYM, SHE WANTS ME TO STAY, SHE IS 79 YEARS OLD, SO I STAY. I HAVE LOST TWO REALLY SWEET FRIENDS TO HEART ATTACKS IN THE PAST THREE WEEKS, AGE 56 AND 62! TOO YOUNG! YOU THINK WE HAVE BEEN EATING RIGHT? NO WAY, ALL OUR LIVES WE HAVE NOT, AND NOW WE ARE DOING SOMETHING ABOUT IT, AND WE MUST KEEP UP THE EFFORTS AND USE THIS TOOL, THE LAPBAND TO ITS BEST POTENTIAL TO HELP US STAY ALIVE AND LIVE OUR LIVES TO THE FULLEST. AND JUST THIS PAST MONDAY, A 33 YEAR OLD GIRL I HAVE KNOWN HER WHOLE LIFE HAS PASSED AWAY FROM CANCER! HER FUNERAL IS THIS COMING SATURDAY. I DON'T WANT TO EAT OR DO ANYTHING, I THINK THAT COULD BE PART OF MY PROBLEM, I AM NOT EATING ENOUGH, THE DESIRE FOR FOOD IS NOT HERE, I DON'T WANT TO COOK ANYTHING, I AM GRIEVING AND WANT TO BE SICK, I DON'T WANT TO PUT FORTH THE EFFORT AS I DID BEFORE BECAUSE MY HAPPINESS LEVEL IS AT AN ALL TIME LOW. I AM STILL TRYING AND I WILLGET BACK ON TRACK, I JUST HAVE TO HAVE SOME TIME NOW. A LITTLE BREAK. DO YOU EVER GET LIKE THIS ANYONE? I FEEL LIKE I AM GETTING BEHIND IN MY WEIGHT LOSS AND NOT KEEPING UP LIKE OTHERS ON HERE ARE ALTHOUGH I HAVE NEVER GAINED AT A WEIGH IN SINCE MY SURGERY, MY LOSS IS SLOWING DOWN TO 3-4 LBS PER MONTH. I SO WANT THAT OTHER 23-24 LBS BY JULY! ANY SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO GET A JUMP AND GET IT GOING DOWN AGAIN TO MORE PER MONTH? HAPPY TO HEAR FROM YOU!

Keeping yourself Motivated! All Important!

:thumbup:It is imperative to keep YOURSELF motivated! Ever talk to yourself? We do it all the time~we just don't admit it! Well for me it is the only way to avoid temptation and when I don't listen to myself, I listen to others OR TO THE FOOD ADDICTION I have lived with all my life! The food we want talks to our brains, our friends (that never gain weight no matter what they eat) tell us a little of this or that won't hurt. "If we want to change our bodies, we must first change our minds!" :tt1: Hummm! There is NO other Way! So go ahead TALK TO YOURSELF~TELL YOURSELF NO NO NO! to the cravings you have for the OLD foods that made you FAT and UNHAPPY! Tell yourself YES YES YES to happiness, energy, new life, new clothes, new agility! The reward is amazing so go ahead, tell everyone that I told you it was OK to talk to yourself! Listen to those inner voices, and talk back to them! Have a Happy and Blessed Easter everyone! He is Risen and He is in control!:smile:

Bought a size 12 tonight! Not a 24W anymore! Whoo Hooo!

Yes I am smilin, now in a size 12 (although they are little tight) and it feels so good. I was in a size 24W (packed in) when I started this journey 8 months ago today! I have been at times ready to throw in the towel, but I held on tight! In a few weeks and a few more lbs, I will get into these new clothes with ease! If you are just beginning, or just thinking about having the LapBand and you are unsure, let me tell you, get a positive attitude, don't let anyone talk you out of it, and just get with the program after the surgery and make everyone get out of your way and go for the goal! You will be so glad you did! Lovin my BAND!

The scale is moving again, only slower this time!

:rolleyes:Still happy that when I get on the scales, I have not GAINED, two lbs this week since the last fill. Whoo hoo!   I did find out when I went in for my Dr.s visit that the Dr. who performed my surgery is moving away, and now I am depressed. But I am so thankful for him and the relationship we have formed. He hugged my neck in the parking lot and boy did we get the stares from the nurses looking on. But he is truly very proud of his patients and how far we have come.   He knows it has changed our lives forever! Thanks Dr. Tim! I will always remember you! It is not what you did or how you did it, but how it made me feel that I will remember!   Best wishes to him, and I will keep up my promise to him to do the best I can to continue with the good work, for me and him.

I made the Local Newspaper!

:blushing:Well it finally happened, the Hospital put the article about me in the Local Newspaper! I did not know it was going Local but that the Medical Journal was to have an article about me in it! WELLL~~~a lot of folks started coming to my work to see me, and said that had to be you but the name was wrong under your Photo! They had my name and story correct in the written article, but put the name of a nurse (that I had actually gradutated with) instead of my name, how funny. Hey she needs to lose weight too! It was kinda nice being noticed so much, but I wanted to be smaller when the article came out, oh well! I did give my written permission~and I am so different than that person 7 1/2 months ago was! I will count my blessings. Went to the Gym tonight had quite a workout, felt good to be alive! God Bless and keep you all. My dear friend who passed will be cremated in the morning and we shall give her our last respects. Love and true friendship never die!:sad:

I WANT WHAT I WANT!1,000 Bitty Baby Steps to get to that 100 lbs lost?

:mad: Boy this is so hard! Losing weight has never been easy has it? Well not for me anyway! And I have a body that has a mind of its on! My mind says lose the 2 lbs a week NOW but my body says NO! I really am trying now, back to the good foods, no sneaking a bite or two here and there. And I step on the scales and I have gained? OMG where is that coming from? Well I SHALL NOT BE Discouraged! I WILL keep on keeping on! My MIND is made up to lose that 100 lbs in my first year, and the 29th of this month will be eight months with 74 lbs (NOW) gone! So I need to lose 26 lbs in four months! That does not sound so hard does it? I think I have always been a STRESS EATER, and these last few weeks I have had a LOT of it! My Mom, diagnosed with Alzheimers a few years ago, had a stroke and is now in an Assisted Living House, a very nice place, but of course she hates it and calls every night crying the blues to me, the next morning she does not even remember calling me, but I don't get any sleep for worrying about her and What to Do? I have to Walk off the Stress of this time of my life and try to enjoy every min I have left with her! 1,000 steps for 100 lbs! That is my motto now! When I exercise (outside of the daily steps I take) I tend to drop the lbs consistently! I urge you if you are in a situation with stress WALK IT OFF! Take those steps to get this weight off! I WANT WHAT I WANT AND I AM NOT GIVING UP!

Saddened today by a Death! Sudden Heart Attack~my dear friend is gone!

:mad:Only the Lord knows why! My dear friend Rita and my daughters future mother in law died this morning from a Massive Heart Attack! My daughter who is an RN tried to revive her but could not!   I am so sad and hurt this morning, I could hardly eat anything yesterday from stress and now I find it hard to drink a protein shake.   When I get upset my band tightens! I don't know why but I have to be relaxed to eat. Is anyone else having this experience?   Please pray for me and my family and Rita's Family today as the shock wears off and reality sets in. Rita had a gastric bypass five years ago, lost 90 lbs and felt terrific, looked terrific and enjoyed life to the fullest, we just did not get to the wedding of our children this Oct together and to see OUR grandchildren, she wanted so badly! I will miss her terribly in our lives.

Vacation Time~ Losing Weight Right On!

Well this year for our 31st Anniversary (which is today!) I planned a trip to the mountains with lots of streneous activity~ and not what you are thinking! LOL We went to Sky Valley GA, the highest mountain in GA only to find 10-12 inches of white snow on the ground! I made a real snow man and crowned him with an FSU Cap! This Florida Girl had a ball, I went out to eat, cooked in the Cabin, and even ate cake! But~~~~~~I increased my level of daily activity, and that is what it all boils down to, eating less, doing more and watching the scales drop and the clothes sizes too! I just love the fact that I have lost over 20 inches in my hips! I have only lost 2 inches in my boobs!!!! So~~~~maybe no boob job will be necessary! Anyway if you have your choice???My husband is happy about that anyway! LOL "HAPPY ST. PATRICKS DAY EVERYONE" LOTS OF LUCK ON YOUR JOURNEY!:eek::biggrin:

76 1/2 lbs down and the scales are dropping! This is FUN!

:tt1: Boy am I loving my band NOW! I am getting into size 12's and I CAN HARDLY believe it myself!! This is FUN! Losing weight has NEVER Been FUN before but now, I just love getting on the scales. I don't even care if it shows a tiny l lb gain, cause I KNOW that by sticking to my program, it will be gone by the end of the week and taking another lb with it! FUN! I love shopping for NEW CLOTHES too! And I am smaller now than I have been in a very long time. I wore a size 14 Wedding Gown from JC Penny's in 1979. I will be wearing a size 10 to my daughters wedding in OCT. if I stay on track with my weight loss! Now how FUN is that????????? If you are new to LB or just thinkin about it! Taste of Home! I am going to be featured in my Dr.s Booth!

:thumbup: I am getting a little freaked out tonight! It is raining cats and dogs here tonight and I have to be at my Dr.s Booth at Taste of Home, Healthy eating and living. I am the featured patient from the LapBand Surgery!!! My first appearance and I am not even at AFTER!!! Now what to wear, how will I do my hair, hope I don't get wet and the mascara runs, OMG I am so darn nervous! I should do fine, cause I will just be myself, that is all I can be. But less of myself. Oh I can and DO tell everyone about my surgery, but not with my Dr. standing there with me, Oh well, guess he will get to know me a little better. The Hospital where I had my surgery is sponsoring the booth! Pray for me please, tomorrow Tuesday at 4:30 PM!!:rolleyes2:

I am going to be a beautiful Mother of the Bride!

:rolleyes2:Yes my youngest daughter is getting married in October! She has always wanted the different things from all the other girls so 10-10-10 is her choice for a wedding date, won't be around for another 1,000 years! Great Choice! It will also be cooler in Florida for a wedding outside! We went shopping for "Styles" in Wedding gowns and Mother of the Bride Gowns Saturday and a Tasting from the Caterer's. The food was delicious and by the time we got through with the Cocktail selections I was full! LOL The tiny crab cakes (4 of them) were the best! And the crostini's were good too (2) Shrimp Cocktail (2) and I was stuffed! I found a beautiful gown, loved the style on me! A size 14 is what I tried on but I "HAVE" to order a size 12!!!!!!How wonderful is that? When I started this LapBand Journey, I weighed almost 270 lbs and wore 22-24-26's depending on how they were made. I Thank God for leading me in the direction of the Band! Come on Spring~ I am freezing! Lost my Insulation (FAT!) Yeah????

:rolleyes2:Last post, it was 68 degrees here in Sunny Panhandle of Florida!!! Tonight it is expected to be in the low 20's! What is wrong with this crazy weather? Lord I am ready for Spring and Summer. Although I regret that I can not wear some of the clothes that I just bought past this winter, because next winter I WILL BE much smaller too! Lost another lb this week so far and the week is only half over, so far so good. But I am loosing my insulation! MY FAT! Anyone else FREEZING?????}}}}}}}}Burrr! Does this mean that this Summer I will be MUCH Cooler? Yeah to that cause it gets HOT here! I can not wait to get into shorts and summer clothing! Have a great day all! It is great now because of the LapBand AP!:cursing:
