Happy Days!

:smile:Good Morning! And it is good. I am staying the same, and that is a GOOD thing.   I look at life this way, at least I am not gaining weight. All my life I gained weight. Now I am able to stay within a lb or so and right back down to the weight I have reached.   I am fairly content with this weight, but sure I would like to get one size smaller! I believe it will come to me one day soon. I am not going to push too hard, to allow my skin to adjust to all the weight loss.   I have two grandchildren arriving in September, new babies. One is a Girl~Ava and the Other a boy~ Wesley, So life is all good.   My youngest daughter is getting married to a wonderful young man she has been seeing for 8 years now on and off. They are the perfect couple. Planning is now in the "Get it done stages, so we are a little stressed, but not much, it is fun!"   So many Happy Days! I have nothing to complain about today! May God Bless your day and Give you What you Desire!

A good dose of the Movies Helps!

:rolleyes2:Well the movies with a friend was wonderful, Saw INCEPTION! I am still reeling from the ending, but it is the hottest movie out right now, so I will just not tell you the ending. Getting out and feeling normal really helps! Yes I had some popcorn, sure can not hold what I use to hold back in the day. It always smells so much better and taste better than the popcorn you get at home! My friend and I shared a box. I worked on a Commercial Real Estate Deal that I have going today and I hope it goes through as it will be a NICE commission! Let me tell you a good dose of the Movies will take you out of reality and make you feel much better if you are down in the dumps.!:bye:

Do Good Anyway!

:smile:One of the Paradoxical Commandments!   If you do Good, people will accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Do good anyway!   Ever been accused of being a Do-gooder?   These Commandments were written by a 19 year old Harvard Student, Kent Keith and have been all over the world! Even Sister Teresa had them hanging on her wall!!!   We must try each and every day to do what is Good and Right! Even tho there will be those that don't want or appreciate what good you do, do it anyway! You will be glad because of it and rewarded for it.   Those will come to see good in you!   Kent M. Keith, never realized when he was only 19 and writing a paper for a college how profound these Paradoxical Commandments for Christians would impact the world.   You can find his book "Jesus Did it Anyway" in bookstores everywere. I suggest you purchasing this book, it is such a great influence in my daily life, right next to the Bible!   Have a wonderful day all!:rolleyes2:

"I can't find anything to wear"~~~I can't believe I DON'T say this anymore!!!!!!!

:smile:Well it use to be a fiasco in the mornings as I prepared to go to work, just to find something in my closet that would fit!!!:sad:     Well those days are over, down 91 lbs this morning, and facing my one year bandiversary on the 29th of this month! I feel great and I have not been frustrated at all in finding something that fits me to wear to work!!! I just realized how awesome that is!!!!   Now I just have to decide WHAT it is that I want to wear to work! I actually like wearing makeup again, because I don't sweat it off! I am learning new makeup techniques and I have a new Hairdo too! I actually straightened my hair which is naturally curly the other day with a curling iron and I LIKED it. Before I lost weight I don't think I CARED very much. Now I DO!!!! A lot of people have told me I look younger and I think I do too!   Being smaller makes me happy!   I have to tell you ladies, nothing makes me madder though than to hear a remark like I did yesterday! There was a big girl, at a convention center who was wearing clothing not flattering to her larger figure, she did look Fat and not at all attractive. Now, as a big girl, I KNEW my limitations and always dressed appropriately. One man said, "Now there is at least 350 lbs on hoof" Comparing a woman to a cow is not respectful at all, and a tiny girl was laughing with him at this woman. To tell you the truth, it broke my heart! I feel so much compassion for all of us big people, we are NOT treated fairly in the workplace or any other place for that matter, and most big people I know have more class, more heart, more of everything than some of the skinny people I know. I pray that God gives me a compassion and a role to play to others to witness the results of the LAP-BAND® to others who will listen, I believe with all my heart that the timing of the funds I recieved to have my LAP-BAND®, were in Gods hands, and I will continue to do my best to make this work in my life and help all others I come into contact with do the same. We have to learn as a society to love all people the same, no matter the situations we have in life. Have a great day all!
 

Today is my BIRTHDAY! REALLY!

:tt2: well today is my REALLY Birthday! I will tell you my age, I turned 58 years young this morning! I feel so blessed and happy! I did eat a bite of cake last night, it was Chocolate and too sweet!! Yes I said it TOO SWEET! But to be polite to the ones who bought it for me and planned the party, I ate CAKE! Being away from a lot of sweets, you never realize HOW sweet they are and just how much sugar is in them until you do eat some and then you know! This birthday is special to me for one reason, I am smaller than last year because of the BAND! Photos were taken, and I could hardly believe that was ME in them compared to last year! 91 lbs smaller! Thank you Jesus for the will power and good sense to have this surgical procedure called the LapBand! My Re-Birth day is the 29th of this month! So I will celebrate again, not with cake tho! LOL To all of those who looked at me with pity and concern for my health, they now see a different me, but I did not do this for them, I did this for ME! You will do this for YOU, or you won't care or try and won't be a success at this journey! Get the mindset that YOU are IMPORTANT and deserve to be healthy! Life will be good, will get better every year! Like I said "I only wish I had gotten the surgery sooner". My only regret. Have a Blessed day with me!

Bandster Bashers

:rolleyes2:I do not understand for the life of me how others can bash us for being banded! I hear you all saying that you have not told others that you are having this surgery. Is it because you are afraid they will bash you about it? Or is it because you want to let them see you lose weight and be surprised? I think it is so wrong to not tell others what we have done, I will never lie or keep it from my loved ones. Most of the people I know are very happy for me and that I have lost this weight. I do have heavier relatives and they are in serious health problems because of the added pounds they are carrying! Instead of not telling them what I have done, I am showing them how what I have done could also help them, to solve some of the health problems they are having that are directly associated with being overweight! We must stand up to any Bandster Basher, but in a kind way. They are bashing us because it hurts for them NOT to have what we have. They really are hurting with their problems of obesity. I KNOW I have been right where they are. I still feel fat to a certain degree, maybe because I am not right where I want to be with my weight loss at this time, but I am getting there! God Says, "Be ye Kind, one to another!" In all things represent the one who is in control of your life and strive to be more like him, then others will see the real you and the efforts you have asserted to change your life for the better, praise goes so much farther than bashing others for what they did or did not do, so have a great day and remember to love those who hurt you as well as those who don't! The REAL LapBand Connection

:thumbup: Hi Everyone! Ever really wonder why we are so addicted to this site? It is because we are all Connected. Connected by the journey, connected by the cause, connected by a small piece of rubber like material that keeps us in control of our eating habits. It is there, but more than that, it is our everyday mental reminder, that we are banded persons sharing the same walks of life daily! What we must all learn to do is rely on this band and keep it doing what it is suppose to do with our help! Ignore Distractions!!!! Our own flaws can distract us from keeping our eyes on Jesus. If we think too much about what is wrong with us, we will forget what God can do through us. If we look too much at what we lack, we will forget to be thankful for what we HAVE! Enjoy Your Life

:rolleyes2:Enjoy your life to the fullest! Whatever may be your task, work at it heartly (from the soul), as something done for the Lord and not for men, knowing with all certainty that it is from the Lord and not from man that you will receive the inheritance which is your real reward. Colossians 3:23-24   Reading the scripture is the only way to stay on track with life and truly enjoy life, when we stray from it, we so alienate ourselves and start to feel helpless, that is because we are.   Pray for the strength to stay on track and enjoy your life.   Jesus died so that you can enjoy abundant life, not just the days you are off work or on vacation, or when you get to go shopping or golfing~~~but every day of your life.   He wants you to enjoy going to the grocery store. He wants you to enjoy driving the kids to school. He wants you to enjoy paying the bills, cleaning the house or mowing the yard.   You can enjoy life if you DETERMINE TO DO SO! Say, "I am going to enjoy every aspect of my life, because Jesus died so that I could have joy unspeakable and full of glory!"   Never let anything rob you of your JOY, EnJOY Your LIFE! Don't Get Upset

May He grant you out of the rich treasury of His Glory to be strengthened and reinforced with mighty power in the inner man by the Holy Spirit indwelling your innermost being and personality. EPHESIANS 3:16   The day begins and we are dissappointed or get upset and then we may act ugly, throw fits, and ruin our witness of what God has done in our lives.   People will be jealous of you and how you have lost weight and they will envy your efforts and covet what you have. Do not act ugly or Get Upset. Pray for those people and be happy about your accomplishments anyway!   Good health brings about true happiness and for a longer lifetime! Losing weight has always made me feel better about myself as a person but never made me feel any better than any other person.   We are all created equal in Gods eyes! Be satisfied that you made the right choice for YOU! You can not decide for others what is right for them, the LapBand is for me, but NOT for everyone! Many people constantly seek the thrill of new experience, but everything new eventually becomes an old thing. Sooner or later, people have to be happy with old things too, or they will never reach God's higher goal of contentment.   We must learn to be content with such things as we have to the point where we are not disturbed or disquieted, no matter what state of mind we are in. We should remain humble and enjoy plenty. The secret to facing every situation, whether well-fed or hungry, was to be content.:smile2:

Up and Down these past three days!

Well after the fourth of July and some cake and goodies. (cheating) I have rolled 2 lbs up and down.   I am going to have to work hard to get them gone, cause I have a goal this month to meet to get to my bandiversary weight. I won't hit 100 lbs, but that is OK!   Life does go on around us and we are still a part of it. We will get use to how to work out lives around the band, to work with it, not against it.   Have a blessed day all!:frown:
 

Shocking Right? Still Lovin the BAND

Well I am fast approching 11 months with the band, lost 3 1/2 lbs this week! Yeah! Hope I can keep it off.   I am just now getting to eat on a regular and planned basis again. We have put 185 out on the Beaches in South Walton County, getting another 200 ready to go to classes. I learned today that we will need 35,000 people to do this cleanup, at best we have 6,000 ready to go!!!!Shocking Right?   It is going to be a long road back to recovery but I believe we will make it! We must, we have to. Our beaches are (were) so beautiful. I hear that they are removing the carcasses of dead sting ray, porpoise and shark and fish off the beaches at night so no one sees that, they are being brought in with the evening tide.:thumbup:   I am so glad I took a relaxing trip to Alaska before returning home to this devastation! But now we have to roll up our sleeves and work!   IN one month, it will be a year with the band, and you know it just seems like yesterday to me sometimes now! I am so happy to feel better and I am more confident that I look better and my clothes fit better. But with all this work, I am missing the Gym!!!!:cool2:

Worked Hard with no Food Breaks! 13 hrs. Straight! OIL SPILL in the GULF OF MEXICO!

:eek:Ate a little cheese and crackers mid morning, Water, and one protein Shake, Gosh did I get hungry before last night at Dinner.   I worked straight through 13 hrs yesterday helping a friend staff over 100 workers for the Gulf Oil Spill! By the time I got home and tried to eat something it was just too late, same thing today. But I sent out for some food to have and I munched on it all day, then ate tonight. Whew, I don't eat that much, but when you DON'T get food, you will not feel good! I packed a lunch yesterday, but did not have time to eat. THE OIL IS COMING! We have tarballs on the beautiful white sand beaches in Santa Rosa Beach, FL. I have lived here all my life and NEVER thought I would see this day, it will be a LONG time before they are clean. :tt1:   We take some things for granted like a beach, that it will always be pretty! We have to pitch in and work hard to make sure that this is done. I am trying to do my part. Many good people will be out of work because of this, so maybe the cleanup will help them replace income they have lost. I feel very blessed to have grown up on these beaches! :sad:Very Sad Day to see it come to this! I will take some lunch tho or snacks for the day tomorrow, short day tomorrow, but it is my husbands birthday and I will take him out to eat tomorrow night.:thumbup:

:confused:Just have to log on before bed each night and one time in the morning, to check out this website! I must say I am addicted to it!   I just love you all and am so encouraged to hear from you, get those little words of encouragement, that make me feel on top of the world!!! THANKS!   I have a friend who did not have the LAP-BAND® AP, she has lost the same amount of lbs as I have and has also joined the Gym, she had three children, I had four. I (as a Real Estate Broker) sold her the house she lives in, yet she is younger than me and does not have the skin issues I have to deal with, I am so proud for her, but my problem was not hers.   I could always follow a diet, and keep the weight I would lose off for a good while, and then here it came creeping back on again! So~~~I got the band, and well I do not regret it, never will. When I commit to something, I am right there in support of the cause 100%   Everyone is different~isn't that nice? That diversity is what makes this world and this site so interesting to me. This site and this Band has brought every culture, race and gender together as one in the cause to beat obesity for good! Lucky 13 Things I have done to Improve my life since the LapBand!

1. Stopped eating between meals too much. 2. Stopped eating out everyday-NO BUFFET! 3. Stopped Sitting so much! MORE ACTIVE! 4. Drinking more water! 5 Exercising more! Joined the local Gym. 6. Walking more steps. 7. I am listening to my inner self-more positive! 8. I am making better food choices. 9. I am off any prescription meds! 10. I am helping others to see they can change! 11. I am overcoming obstacles. 12. I am more in tune with my faith and savior. 13. I am eating healthier and increasing my longevity by doing so.   So you see there is more to this than looking pretty, sexy and losing the pounds. Want to FEEL BETTER? Write your reasons down and look at them, tape them to your computer screen, you will be reminded daily WHY you chose to change your life!:confused:

Back to the Workouts and Walks

:tt1:Walkin can make you feel really invigorated, and relieves stress (and Gas~right after surgery) So walk more and feel better.   Workouts at the Gym are just that, a workout, I don't particularly like to sweat, but it is burning up excess fat, so sweat I do!!!! And do it well I might add.   Heading to the Gym anyone? ME!!!!

A little at the Time~Walkin the Walk just not with the SNAKES

:frown:Hey a loss is a loss! Down 1.3 lbs this morning! Yeah! When you have taken off over 80 bs, the losses slow down some, well lets face it, I have lost a great percentage of my excess body fat, so you have to realize things will slow down, that is why on EVERY DIET there is the last 20 lbs or so is soooooo harrrrrd to lose!:mad: Working hard for the next 10 lbs, hope for it in two months! That is the plan anyway. Was going to walk today, but it is 100 degrees and the lake I walk around is exactly 1 mile and perfectly round, just beautiful, but the Newspaper reported Snakes :mad2:(Moccosins) a lot of them crawling there, so me and snakes don't mix, here I come treadmill. Still Walkin the LapBand Walk! Here's to us Bandsters.:tt1:

Back on the "BAND WAGON"

:frown:well I am finally feeling nourished after the trip to Alaska where on the cruise I could not seem to eat properly! A slight unfill .04 cc's did the trick. NOW to get back on the Band Wagon and lose the next 10 lbs! I want to lose 30 more, but will get there one day at a time. I am hitting the gym tomorrow and starting my daily walks again, you can sure get off track when going on Vacation, I loved the cruise, but got more lbs to lose! Behavior Modification Roller Coaster

:wink:This journey has been for me a behavior modification journey. Learning to listen to and do what my inner voice tells me is right. I don't always listen, and tune out the inner voice and override the warnings! Sometimes I am successful at being bad and eating the things I have loved for years, and sometimes they go down and come back up. We are in a learning curve for the first year I think, and only trial and error will prove us, not what people say or do or think we should be doing, our body responds to us.:eek: I tend to do good for awhile, then fall off the wagon again and then get back on. So what, life is like a roller coaster ride, just hang on!

Some of My Children NEVER will Grow up! Some Days!

Today is one of those days, I feel so disgusted trying to help, I try not to get involved in my married childrens lives, but then when they get in a bind, they call on me, and I am there! I will be so glad when they grow up! Gosh! Praying hard for the patience I need. Well on a brighter note, down 4 1/2 lbs today! Worked hard, had great energy now headed to the house, have a great night all!:eek:

Well the UNFILL has happened to ME!!!Never thought it would!

:eek:Yes ME! But OH HOW MUCH BETTER I FEEL NOW!!!   I was afraid to get the Unfill although I secretly KNEW I NEEDED ONE! I was a little ashamed to even mention that I was having difficulty to my Dr.   I did not want him to think I could not keep going and or that he had put too much in, or that I would eat MORE with some of it out!   But I had been miserable for two months and while on my cruise, I always ate near the Ladies Rooms so I could go and upchuck half of what I ate, I was feeling so bad because I was losing all the nutrients and minerals and vitamins I needed from my foods!!!! Oh yes and I had Gained some weight not but a couple of lbs, but I had so much swelling around the band from throwing up and my body was not functioning properly so I could not LOSE any weight!   Well 48 hours of liquids passed and it was TIME to EAT AGAIN! I was so afraid to eat, when I did, it went down great, I felt full soon after and that was it, NO UPCHUCKING! YEAH! Wow, I am just right now back at my SWEET SPOT! I know I am going to start losing the weight again and meet my goal~so I have a renewed spirit with the band on my side again! Thanks for all your great comments! Hope all is well for you!:thumbup:
 

Facing the Fiddler

:scared2:Today is the day I see the Dr. for a Fill OR NOT! I dread this day, cause I have not been eating right, cause stuff will not go down, so I need a slight unfill so I don't eat sliders to feel full. (Sliders=Stuff I should not have full of calories, that slide through easy)   So Here I go to face the fiddler and to help myself to eat fish, chicken and salads again!   I will not be as depressed either!   On a good note:smile:My oldest grandson will graduate from Kindergarten this morning and I feel so blessed for having this year almost behind me! Life gets better every year.   This year two more grandchildren will be added to our family and my daughter gets married in October! So we will be growing our little family! God is a Good God!:smile2:
 

Had a Case of the Lazies today!

Depressed or what? Don't know but I could not move off the couch today, just did not want to do anything.   I had so much energy the first six months of the journey and now I feel tired, well I did just get back from a 12 day Vacation, (No Rest then) Guess I need a vacation to get over my vacation.   Nothing really on TV either, can't believe that I watched Top Model!!??   I wanted to eat more today too, just sitting around, should have gotten my butt up and gone to the Gym, well there is always tomorrow!   My next appt is Friday and I dread it, because of the cruise, I have not lost any weight this month, and dread the visit! I need my Mojo Back! And the Dr. and Staff always do that for me, cause they are my friends now and really care about me, I know this to be true~sooo I will suck it up and get to the Dr.   I think I get too hung up on Goal Setting and feeling like a failure when I don't meet the goals! Got to get past this! I also have a few friends who are a little upset and maybe even a bit jealous I am getting smaller than them, they can say things that really hurt! I want to take off 30 lbs this next year and I believe I will too, got to work at it and I will.   Thanks for hearing me vent! Later!:smile2:
 

Pizza is not Passing Through Anymore! NOOOOOOO!

:frown: It's official. After the fifth fill I am too tight for Pizza! So I am deliberating with having a little unfill. Not that I love Pizza and have to have it or anything like that, but with an episode in the parking lot at Wal-Mart with everyone around, and no where to let it out, trying to hold it in until I get into the restroom and can't OMG was I ever so embarrassed! Well then when I did get inside, I had to visit the Bathroom again! ONLY ONE PIECE TOO! The salad I had enjoyed stayed, the Pizza did not! I had only had liquids for breakfast and it was 4:20 PM so I decided to eat with my husband out tonight. So much for the romantic ending! I came home and made some Lumpia Roll mix (like an egg roll) I was still hungry and so I ate a small bowl of the hot filling, cabbage carrots, onions, hamburger meat, and chopped green beans, etc. Very good. When I am at home and relaxed, everything goes very well, when I eat out, watch out! Are we LapBanders so different that we can't eat out anymore, or not very well anyway? I am fast discovering this so I will order small from thence forth. I may have a slight unfill on June 4th, haven't actually made up my mind yet, but maybe!:sad:
 

Food and Memorial Day Blahs?

:frown:Just thinking I wish I could eat a Hot Dog! Blah, Blah is my body adjusting faster than My Brain? I use to think that my brain moved faster than I could talk, and that I could think of things and ways to amuse my mind to keep the hands away from food.   Is it Just Memorial Day Blahs? I use to love to fix a big potato salad and ribs and hot dogs and hamburgers, I just kinda feel like I am missing out and just feeling a little low and left out right about now.   Not with the way I look and how I like getting into clothes sizes I could not wear for the past 10 or so years, I just sit around (when I am not working and think too much, it is hard to stop thinking about foods that I want to eat and can't) and want to eat, so I have to modify this behavior I KNOW! Anyway I think it has to do with lots of depressing things going on in my life right now, recent deaths, financial concerns, etc. I will get over it, and I will move on, and life will get better I KNOW: just needed to vent to those of you who KNOW where I am at at this stage, rolling 4 or 5 lbs around is so depressing, up and then down and then back up again, very challenging for the last 20 lbs on any diet program and even with the band too.:sad:
 

Great Chicken Recipe!!!!

This is delicious!   Low Carb, High Protein!   Chicken Fritters!   In a large bowl, mix one can of White Meat Chicken, chopped finely! (Reduce the size of the chunks to minced) Add Two Green onions minced fine. Salt and Pepper to taste.   Add 1 1/2 cups of Ricotta Cheese Add 1 Cup of Low Fat Sour Cream Add 1/4 cup Flour (to hold the mixture togeter) White or Whole Wheat Add two eggs, beaten.   Mix entire mixture together in bowl.   Spray cast iron pan with cooking spray, low-cal type. Drop mixture into pan, in 4 oz sizes, keep flipping until brown on both sides, about 4 min. till done. Serve with a side salad and low cal dressing!   Absolutely Delicious and Satisfying!
