4 days post op!

I am a 25 year old, female. I had my surgery Wed., Aug. 5th. I'm doing well. I've already lost about 12 lbs. I was actually not nervous at all on my surgery day. I used to get really nervous and cry when I had surgery in the past. I think I was just ready to get it over with. The worst was the IV because I hate needles. When I woke up, I had a little bit of a tough time coming out of the anesthesia. My chest felt heavy like a couldn't breath. The nurse gave me oxygen in my nose after I had been complaining (I tend to be irritated or emotional coming out of it). I didn't like the smell of the new plastic so I ripped it out and she then put it in my already very dry mouth and I ripped it out again. My mouth, as I said, was very dry and my throat really hurt. Other than that I felt abdominal pressure and discomfort but that was about the extent of my pain. The worst was getting the xray the next day. The first thing I got to drink was a nasty drink for the xray and a lot of it. It was awful. I had to stand for a long time because they couldn't get a good xray and also made me lay on my side which was very painful. They tried to make me drink out of a straw which I refused because the surgeon ordered me not to due to increased gas and bend my left arm to drink which I also refused because the nurses told me not to because that is where my IV was not to mention it was painful. They had to get a guy to hold the cup above me and give me sips. Sorry I guess I'm difficult. They also put me on a table that flips you from a laying down to standing position. I felt like I was going to fall and almost did. I was not happy with the radiology dept. to say the least. I started to walk a good bit in the hosp. I got to go home the next day after my surg., Thurs., after I could prove I could drink liquids. I have been home since and doing pretty well already. I've been walking a good bit, have already showered a couple of times, and am anxious to move to the pureed diet on Tuesday. The liquid diet gets old after a while. It's hard being down and a lil boring but visitors, movies, reading materials, internet, etc. have been helpful.

It's been a while since I blogged.

Hello fellow banders! I am almost 3 weeks post op, 20 days to be exact. I'm a teacher and today was our 2nd day back to school, my first day was last Wed. but the students have been back for 2 days and I'm exhausted. Not because of the surgery but because I'm having trouble transitioning from my summer to school schedule. Anyways, last week I went to my first post op appt. The surgeon was pleased with how things are going and was happy that my incisions healed so fast. I got him to clear me early to swim. So last week I started aqua challenge and aqua circuit classes, kinda like water aerobics, and I love it! It's 3 days a week. I'm going to try to swim at home on my off days, but haven't yet. I have a bad back so swimming is best for me. Today was my first day on the soft diet, yay no more purees! The last time I checked I lost 22lbs. I haven't weighed myself in a couple of days because it is, well sorry men...ladies can relate, my time of the month and I don't know about the rest of you but I just feel so bloated and fat during this time. The thought of getting on the scale makes me want to vomit. lol Not really.:tongue_smilie:I'm still doing well at counting calories, fat, protein. I'm allowed 1200-1400 cal, 30-40 grams of fat, and am supposed to shoot for 110 grams of protein. It's def harder when you start eating regular foods. I'm finding it difficult not to drink during or right after meals. I sneak in a sip here and there I just can't help it! It's also hard to eat slow. I used to be a fast eater apparently. I'm still trying to get my protein shakes in. I'm starting to not like them and I'm supposed to have 3-4 cups/days and that would take up so many calories. Well that's all for now. I hope everyone is doing well in their journey.

Long time no blog!

I haven't blogged forever. Been so busy with work since the school year started. So, I am about 2 months post op. I've lost about 42 lbs which varies by day because of this wonderful weight fluctuation thing I've discovered that I have. Anyone else have this it's sooo frustrating? Anyways, went for my first fill this week. Dr. only put .6cc's in my something like 975 band???? It was empty before and I guess it holds up to 4 cc's. I guess it's the smallest band you can get because my stomach is supposedly small which I can't believe considering how much I was able to eat in the past. I'm already ready to call and get at least .8 or 1cc in it because I just don't think I'm getting quite enough restriction. We'll see what the Dr. says. I've been trying out new classes at the gym aside from water aerobics which I love but have also been doing Zumba which I also love. Would like to try this Step and Abs class and Belly Dancing too. We shall see. I ate some thin crust pizza tonight. I know I shouldn't have but was craving it so badly esp. after being on liquids for 3 days after my fill. That's all for now. Hope everyone is doing well with their journey! Have a great weekend.
