Denied, Appealed, Approved, Sceduled, Happy.

June 2009- Insurance denied my request for lap band surgery and claimed i had not ful-filled all of the requirements, which we BMI over 40, Co-Morbidities, and participation in a 2-year medically tracked diet/weight loss program. All of which i did.   June 2009- Appeal letter sent and we wait ......................................................................................................................................................................... July 13th- Approval letter for the surgery arrives and i nearly pass out with excitement and happiness.   July 14th- Surgery is scheduled for July 30th. along with a one week follow up apppointment with the surgeon for a band fill.   im so excited. 2 problem though.   1. i have only told 2 of my friends and of course family. but i have no idea if i should tell people or just not say anything and continue to lose weight while people talk about me. im nervous people will think im anorexic since i wont be able to eat much but an ounce for a while. i start school on august 26 or 28 and im pretty sure i will still be on liquids by that time... meehhh   2. i have been constantly talking about the food i have to eat before i have the surgery. its driving my mom, and me crazy. I'm talking about what restaurants, and meals i still "have" to have before i cant eat anymore... grrr

Doing Well.

Ok, so its been almost 2 weeks since surgery and im doing great. Ive lost 17 lbs so far. The first week was pretty rough and was freaking myself out about malnutrition since i only had one kind of protein powder and could not stand it. And this past monday i got to expand my diet from pureed foods, to soft foods. meaning i can have crackers, toast, peanut butter, noodles/rice, eggs, etc. Very exciting since ive been getting sick of my pureed tuna, and soup and such. Starting school soon, so that will be interesting. im just preparing myself for questions to be asked. blahh... but otherwise, thats pretty much it.   Oh yeah, ive been trying to get most of my protein from my foods since i CANNOT stand the protein powder. My mom ordered unjury for me so hopefully i will be able to handle that. Just waiting for the to come in the mail.

5 days!

Ok, so 5 days until surgery and im so excited!!! Tomorrow me and my mom are going to visit with my cousin who had the surgery a few years ago because 1. it was her birthday on Friday and 2. i just want to talk with here about pre surgery and post surgery. like what she did for a while basically.   On Monday i have a crazy day with appointments. like 3 in one day starting at 6:45 AM...which reallllyyyy sucks. I have to have an upper GI, lab work i think, and i meet with the dietician. and i cant eat any "fatty foods" for dinner the night before Monday and surgery! Im not really sure whatr im supposed to eat though. Like salad...chicken breast...can i have pasta? idk...please let me know in a comment if you have some suggestions.   hmmm. what else....? Oh yeah...how many times a day do you drink the protein shake thingys? like 3 times a day like one at each meal time? again, shoot me a comment   i think that is it... ill def post another blog post if there is something else.
