Day of surgery

I was at the tRUE rESULTS facility from 10:30am- 4:49 p.m. The scale there said my weight was 292, and the surgeon came in and thanked me for losing a lot of weight for the surgery.   When I woke up I think my body was going into shock, but the nurse there helped me calm down. I have a bad back and had been lying on it from 12:30-2:30, when I woke in recovery. I couldn't stop moving-trying to be comfortable and my teeth were chattering uncontrollably. The nurse gave me Demerol and my body calmed. I have abdominal soreness, which is better this morning, but I do have a bit of pain in both shoulders from the anesthesia. The nurses had to stick me three times looking for an IV vein.nice bruise forming. They also give you a shot of heparin in the side (I didn't really feel it) to prevent blood clotting in your legs. I also wore compression stockings.   I don't have any regrets.

My pre-op diet

Pre-op diet was 1 meal and 2 shakes a day.   I cooked my chicken & veggies on my day off and then packed my lunch bag with a morning shake, chicken & veggies for lunch and an apple or grapes. The best thing is that you can eat as many green veggies as you want.   I purchased several bags of frozen greens, edamame, broccoli florets, broccoli stalk pieces, green beans and made all of them at once, mixed them together and packed large amounts of the mixture with my chicken. Nothing gourmet, but it filled me up. I used Italian dressing to cook in, different spices and cans of mushroom soup.   I took Jack Links jerky with me or had an extra shake when I was hungry later.. (if) I hope this information helps you on your pre-op diet. Good luck to you

2 Days until the Big Band!

Well,I'm just two days away from the BigBand placement... nerves kicked it just thinkin' 'bout it. I am a bit miffed though because the nurse said that I won't get a call about my surgery time (or arrival) until tomorrow. ONE day before surgery... so frustrating.:cursing:   I understand that there are emaergency patients that take precedence, i.e. Diabetics, but why only one day's notice? :cursing:   Bummer.:cursing:

Nausea (and not banded yet)

I have been feeling great lately, maybe due to my often empty stomach.   Only thing that has continued to bother me is my new bowel pattern. Started a couple of weeks back and it's just odd.   I get a wave of nausea, that is so bad and then I have to get to a restroom soon after. Sometimes I have nausea without any bowel movement, but that is not as bad.   Has anyone ever experienced the nausea/bowel thing and had a diagnosis?   I want to contribute it to my growing stomach issues (hiatal hernia) but how?   Well, that aside, I feel great. Happy Wednesday!:blushing:

First post

Today I am about 11 days away from my surgery. I met with the doctor on July 7 & weighed 309 lbs. Friday I was 299 lbs and I met with the nurse for my evaluation. We sent for my last lab results that my doctor requested. Today I'm at 296 because of the pre-op diet. Tomorrow I need to call the office and double check that they have received everything they need.   Can Hardly Wait:smile2:
