Hi all! Wanted to share some before and 3 months after pics with everybody. Take a look. This band journey is a strange thing.:cursing: One day I can eat and the next day 2 bites will do me at one sitting. Throwing up has been more of a common thing than I thought it would be. Still a little bruised feeling at the port site  and have had more gas in the last 3 months than EVER before. :cursing: I go in next week for my 4th fill. And I am going to ask about these issues. Total wieght loss has been 30 pds! :cursing: For once in my life the scale is going down not up!! I'm lovin it! :cursing: Can't wait till the next 30 pds goes away. Then I feel I will REALLY see it! And that's when others will really see the true effects of the band~! :smile2: I had a lot of "bulk" on me and that's the 30 pds that's missing! :cursing: If you have any suggestions or props, let me know. Always love to hear from you.

Been awhile since I got on here. To catch up, I am down some 24 pds! I have had a couple of PB's. :cursing:
On Tuesday I got my first fill. Not more than a poke; and it was done. Drank the barium and they were able to tell it all went down well and I was out of there after a glass of water. I felt the tightening as she injected the saline. I thought, oh GOOD, I will once again lose my hunger like the first 3 weeks. HMMMM....but that didn't happen. Yes my food intake is somewhat controled, BUT I am getting hungry. Hungry like before the band. With the stomach gurgling and lightheaded. What's up with that? I have been so hopeful! And ...my port or what ever it is that they inject the needle in is (after two days) swollen, sore and poking out. Is that normal? I sound like I am complaining...really I am not...but I spent my own money on this...Insurance didn't cover a dime of it. My husband is like what is up with you being hungry after we just spent 15K for you NOT to be hungry like before. :cursing:
I know I can not eat like I ate before, thank GOD! But, on the doctors websites and some people on here boast (and rightful so..if it works for you that is AWESOME! Boast and boast some more...I am sure I will be there sooner than later! please God. :cursing:) of losing 80 + pds in 4 months. I just feel like I am missing something or do something wrong....I had a bmi of 42 when I started
this some 40 days ago.
I went to the nutrisionist on Tuesday right before my first fill. She had me breath into this machine to measure my metabolism. She said it was right where it needed to be and suggested I put my servings of protein and produce on a saucer for each meal. Does any one else adhere to this type of disipline and structure? She said no starch either. ? Can that be? :cursing:
I know a lot of questions and I am praying some of you bansters out there will help me out! PLEASE HELP! :cursing: Thanks K

Please tell me what PB is? I've heard it used here, but nothing comes to mind. I know what slimming is and I know what throwing up is cause I have done both since the band. I learned that ALL BREAD -- Wheat or White, Rye or Pumpernickel must be out of my diet! It's just too painful! Way too hard to digest.
I still find myself eating when I am not hungry. :crying: Even if it is Hummus. I think I am going to do the OA meetings online. The person to person meetings where I live is not very strong; not much recovery happening in those rooms.
Such a journey. No Quick fixes and or magic cures!! :bored: Gonna keep pluging along.
Let me know about the PB's tho. Thanks! :smile2:
Hi All,
Things here are going well!! It's 20 days later and so far I have been on vacation with my sisters for the last 10 days! I was able to keep up with them and feel no pain. What I did feel was upon taking that first bite of food a BIG air bubble. Somewhat uncomfortable and glad I was in a comfortable situation, not one with my in-laws!! I talked myself through it and after awhile it passed. What I can't get over is the gas (I don't mean burping!!) and the hiccups! What is this?? I can not burp although I feel like if I could belch a big one, it would be GREAT!! The flatulence is really annoying!! Anyone else experiencing this? Does it lessen over time or does my family have to put up with a farter for the rest of our lives? Jeezee! If only I could belch!
Okay, so no pain from the surgery anymore! Thank God!! :rolleyes2: I do find myself eating when I am not hungry tho. That must be the compulsive overeater in me. I will have to watch that. I will keep a good eye on it. I don't want any slippage or problems from the LB so I am going to do my part!! It's hard. I have nothing but a protein drink in the AM then I am hungry at dinner. And I do eat a garden or black bean burger for dinner. Sometimes all of it and sometimes just half. I always try to eat a salad before my burger. A few hours later, a bite at snack time(literally) will do ya! It does me! Thank God for the LB!!:rolleyes2:
Hope all are doing well! If you know a secret to getting rid of the hiccups; let me know!
If anyone tells you this is an easy procedure; please keep reading. This has been the most difficult surgery I have had. Thus after 2 c-sections, ruptured oviarian cyst and galbladder removal. The first 5 days are HELL!!! I constantly felt like I was having a heart attack as there was sooo much pressure in my chest and pain in my shoulder. Now I did have a hernia repair. My surgeon found it upon opening me up the day of the LB procedure. That may have caused SOME of the pain. BUT here's my thing....if I would of BEEN TOLD that there was pain like a heart attack with the excrushating pressure, I would have prepared myself mentally and physically for that. BUT I thought I was just going in for a simple basically PAINLESS procedure!! because that is what I was told by my DR!! He also mentioned (merely, I asure you!) that I may have some gas pain from the air.
HUH!?!?!?! I like to know what I am getting into before I go into it! YEAH!!! I never read a blog on here about pain or heart attack feeling and you know what?--- all of that is to BE EXPECTED with this surgery. And it is surgery!! Not just a procedure! Don't be fooled! The good news is on day 10 I am feeling much, much better and can actually say I have no pain whatsoever! I think the hard part is over!! Yah!! The weight is still coming off, scale going down and NO HUNGER!! A miracle! Nothing short of it! Thank God for this LB!! I know it is going to save my life!
This LB is just such a blessing! I got on the scale today and have lost 20pds.:frown::crying: I am going to focus on that for today and praise God for this miracle!! I could never of done this without the LB. I am not hungry at all....I love todays technology!! :tt2: I do pray that my stomach will settle down, it has been very gassssy with emergency runs to the bathroom. Thank God, I work from home!
But, that is small in comparison to what I have been through these last 5 days and the weight I have lost!!
Hi, I want to thank you guys for your words of encouragement and sharing your experiences with me! I personally know no- one who has done this surgery so my reference points are all from text books. Today is my daughters graduation and family dinner party and I am very nervous about that. And for once in my life, it's not the eating part that's worrying me! :tongue2: It's actually being able to sit still for the grad ceremony and have the energy to make it all the way through dinner without having a lot of pain and or uncomfortability. :crying: I really hope I can make it through. I have a call into my dr. office to ask about some of the pain and side effects I am having. I hope to hear from them soon. If I get any good feedback...I'll share it here later. Still not hungry at all! Never thought I would say that!!!
Yesterdays activities set me back!! Oh boy! I feel like crap this morning. Yesterday during and after the graduation, then dinner I REALLY though I was going to fall out! At the ceremony getting into the stadium chair was a real hurdle. And I was shocked that I was not able to fit into the chair!! I was all crouched up. I had no idea my spread was that big!! People in front of me where looking at me. These weight issues are filled with all sorts of denial!! It's so embarrassing!!! I am so glad I had the band done. I mean even tho the processs has been sickly, at least I have comfort knowing that I AM FINALLY going to have LONG TERM SUCCESS!!! It's what Ive always wanted...to be victorious over this!! On the way home last night ..I got my regurgitation thing. That is very unpleasant and uncomfortable!! Feeling like you're going to puke. My doc told me it could be b/c I have not put enough fluids in me and since I have allergies, things are thicker in my thoat, etc..she suggested I take a liquid allergy medicine. i will give that a try and let you know if t helps. Here's to wishin folks!!!
Hi Again,
I Slept great last night. Sweated the fever out. Still feel like purging when I got up. Had my coffee this AM and had to rush to the bathroom.
I have had 3/4 of a protien drink yesterday and nothing today but water and 1/2 cup of coffee. Not in the mood for anything. I would like the pain to go away. I am breathing better today and was able to get some stuff up when I coughed. Boy is deep coughing painful. I feel like I have more energy today. But again, this pain is just not what I imagined. It's much more intense than I thought it would be. I have had 2 c-sections, 1 ruptured ovarian cyst and gallbladder removal and nothing really compares to this. It's so strange. When my doctor did the proceedure, he did find that I had a hernia. So he repaired that....I am wondering if that has anything to do with the intense pain? I've just always thought I had a high tolerance to pain...but this is kicking my a**. Anyone feel the same?
Hi All,
I got banded in Hurst, TX on Friday the 5th. I have over 100 pds. to lose. I was in and out of the surgical center within 4 hours. After the 45 min ride home I began to feel the pain in my left shoulder and breast. It was so painful! Plus the soreness of my surgery in my belly. It was difficult gettting comfy in any position. I got up every two hours to walk around the house and go to the bathroom. Started running low grade fever (100.3) around 7pm. I was taking my antibodic and pain liquid vicodin as prescribed. Still in pain and not feeling like I would of done this procedure if I knew of this type of pain. It's hard to breath. And hard to get up from a sitting or laying down position. Has anyone felt the same?
Hi
I am shuffling a little faster today. Pain in shoulder and below the breast are a bit better. Fever was on and off throughout the night. No fever this morning. As afternoon came around started feeling like I was going to throw up when i got to an upright position. Takes a few minutes to go away. Lots of uncomfortablility still. My body is so tense b/c of the pain. In and out of twilight sleep throughout most of the day. Fever came back at about 8pm. Still low grade of 100.3 so I have not called the doctor. Family and husband have been great support!
