I had my surgery on May 19, 2009. It was pretty uneventful. I went to the surgical center at 5:30, my surgery was scheduled for 7:30. I was nervous and excited. I was taken to the preop area and was hooked up to the IV. I was weighed and was suprised to find that I weighed in at 233. This was 8 lbs. less than when I started my preop diet. I was 241 at the Dr.'s office.
As I was laying there I thought "What are you doing?" but, I was told it was time to go and I was wheeled into the operating room. I slid on to the table and then remembered waking up in the recovery area and was taken to my room. I didn't want to spend the night but my insurance made me :crying:. After just a few minutes in my room I was removed in a wheelchair to have the fluoro done. I drank a little bit of disgusting Barium liquid and stood there while 2 technicians made sure that the liquid passed through the band. Then I was taken back to my room. I was a little uncomfortable but not in pain. I was released to go home the next day at noon.
I was scheduled for my first fill on June 23. I went in and thank goodness my insurance pays for fills, so I just had to pay my 20. copay. I was very nervous and the PA that did my fill was obviosly still learning.
She mashed on my stomach to find the port and then she numbed me, (in the wrong spot) so she called in someone to help her, she mashed on my stomach foound the port and inserted the needle. She unfilled to find out how much saline was in the band and I had 3cc's so she added 1.5 cc's so, now I am at 4.5cc's. I had to sip on a cup of water and then I was allowed to leave with another fill appt. in 2 weeks. Next fill on 7/8!! I hope this one goes better. I am now 16lbs. down. Still very hungry in between meals and I am going to try very hard to stick to the recommended amounts. I have been exercising 4-5 days per week at the gym. Usually on the elliptical or the treadmill. I have not learned to like the gym. I don't know if that will ever happen.:crying:
