HI. I'm 26 years old, and have been diagnosed for about 5 years. In that time, my weight has gradually but steadily increased, to the point where now I feel I need to get a lap band just to curb the gain. I take Lithium and Lamictal for the ups and downs.
Here's the rub: for the insurance to cover the surgery, I need to be over a 40 BMI (300 lbs), or be over a 35 BMI and have a medical problem. I'm currently around a 37 BMI, but all my weight is around my stomach, and breathing has become a problem, though not quite asthmatic.
So, my question is this: is there anyone who went through the same kind of thing who could give me some guidance?
