Named my Band

Well, it is week 3 and I have decided to name my band. I thought Caligula was an appropriate name it actually means "little boot" but I thought it was fairly appro for my "little band". So Caligula and I are moving on. It has been slow go since the banding I have only lost 14 lbs. I know in the past I would have been exstatic with 14 lbs in 3 weeks but no more. I want it all. I know I need to be patient. Even my doctor said I would not see a significant amount of loss until after my first fill which is in 3 weeks. He wants me to fully heal first. Anyway Caligula and I are moving on.   I went back to work yesterday after 3 weeks. I was ready for a nap by 2:00. But I trudged on and sat through a 3 hour meeting and put in my 8+ hours.   Today will be better. I love my job:wub:, but today all the big bosses will be in a meeting and I will not have to listen about how terrible it was while I was gone. I guess that would explain the daily phone calls desperately seeking advice. Oh well, I'm back. It was easier to work all day and then I was not consumed with the thought of what I was going to eat next. When I was home once the house work was done. All I did was contemplate my next bowl of soup. Although I did create some very unusual recipes. Spaghetti soup was a craving satisfier. But it was just soup because I blended it. Yep. Noodles and all. But yesterday teh time went by really fast and I was too busy just to think about food so I am really looking forward to being back at work assisting Caligula and I on this adventure. So until later. Chin up, we can do this together!!!

D'Ann's Version of Chili's Southwestern Veg Soup

List of Ingredients:   Lg Box of Chicken Broth (Swanson is Best) Can of red Kidney Beans Can of Diced Tomatoes (14.5 oz) Can of Green Chiles Pkg of Frozen corn Pkg of Frozen Green Beans 1 onion sliced (Itailian onion best) Can of Tomato Sauce Garlic Powder Chili Powder     Mix all ingredients in large stock pot and bring to a boil. Simmer for 45 minutes     Since I am still on liquids only. I let my soup cool completely and then puree it in the smoothie maker. (if you don't let it cool, the blender will explode, don't ask me how I know) took me 2 hours to clean the kitchen.     If you have trouble with corn, you can change the frozen vegetables     I have made it with Birdseye Frozen summer medly and it was really good.     If you want to add some zing add a can of rotel tomatoes.     Pre cooked chicken fajita strips may be added to give some protein.     To serve you can add corn chips and shredded cheese. But I leave these out as I am afraid of the chips and the cheese I don't want the extra calories.     Hope everyone enjoys!!!!:rolleyes2:

Weigh In and New Recipe

The weigh in and if you want a great recipe let me know   Well weigh in not so bad, have lost 6 lbs. Doc is ok with that, says I am in the recovery stage not weight loss stage. Whatever that means and says a pound a week is acceptable.   It may be acceptable but I need more than that with an all liquid diet.   I told him about the cheats and he said I still have stitches inside and should not do it. And just for that I am on liquids for another 3 weeks.   Ok not just for that, but he wants to make sure I am healed completely so nothing thicker than tomato paste.   I have been putting everything in the smoothie maker anyway.   If anyone likes Chili's Southwestern Veg Soup, I have come up with a simple homemade version that has 220 calories per 8 oz serving and would be happy to share the recipe.   I have found it quite refreshing over canned broths.   Just let me know if there is interest and I will post it the next time I am on.   I will go for my first fill on Oct 21. Then the second one will be 1 month later. After that, I call him when I have plateued and am not losing weight. He says I have to take control of this.   Thanks for all of the encouragement and support you all have offered and I love to hear your stories and follow up with you. Chin up we can do this together:thumbup: D'Ann

Two weeks post op and questioning my decision

Well, today was my two week post op day.   Tomorrow I weigh in for the first time. What do I do. I had lost 15 lbs in the first 9 days and now I am only down 3 lbs. I am not sure what is going on. I can only hope that my scale broke, but for some reason I don't think that is the case.     The all liquids is really hard and I have added crackers to my soup. But have "Cheated" with little bites of this and that and have not found anything that I cannot eat. I am not sure if I made the right decision. Will power was never my strong point. If I had will power I would not have needed the surgery.     I am hoping that I will show a little weight loss at the weigh in tomorrow. If not I will be moritfied.     I can't be the only one out there who hasn't lost weight with the band, should I name it, maybe when I am felling a little more loving towards it.     I joined a chat group tonight and they gave me some tips to try. One is no eating past 7:00 pm so that will be my first step and then when hungry between meals eat Jello. Everyone on the chat board was a Jello hater so they must be eating a lot more Jello than I have because I still love it.     My goal is to blog each week and each day I weigh. So until tomorrow night I will say good luch and happy banding to all of you out there.     Chin up we will do this together. :rolleyes2:
