starting over 03/24/10

Looks like the only logical thing to do is start from square one. As hard as it is to admit, I have regressed back to where I started. It's going to take a few days to do this since I have to supply my pantry with the low carb, high protein foods that I should be eating. I have gotten lazy and have slipped back to eating whatever and whenever I feel like it. I know better not to eat the fried foods and sweets but when I eat small portions of these things they slip by the lapband just fine. It's been hard this lenten season giving up the chocolate but I haven't cheated one bit. Once I make up my mind to do something I usually am able to accomplish whatever it is. I have now made up my mind. I will begin on Sunday. This gives me up until Saturday to resupply my house with all the right foods and to announce to my family that we are back to basics. Wish me luck!

3lb weight gain

So it must have been the chocolate although the nurse seems to think it's carbs. I guess I got lazy. I have started keeping my food journal again to keep track of the calories, carbs, protein, and now fats. Whoever said that the lap band was the quick fix was soooo.... wrong. It's still alot of work. The journal helps to make sure not only that I'm eating the right amounts of food but by writing it down it will eventually come 2nd nature for me to chose the right amounts. It's just a constant struggle. Can't hurt to try.:frown:

chocolate keeps calling me

So I have the exercise under control but I can't seem to ditch the chocolate. I think it's my downfall. I can't seem to stay away from it. I keep reminding myself that I went through surgery to make this life changing step toward losing weight and I can't stay away from chocolate. I'm losing weight still but extremely slowly. 1-2 pounds every 2 weeks. My band is doing it's job b/c I'm only able to eat very small portions. It's like a daily struggle to leave the chocolate alone. Will keep trying.

new foods

I've found a new way to make fish that is soooooo... good. It's a coating that is put on the fish by Zatarain's called "Bake & Crisp" and it tastes just like fried fish except it's baked. Delicious! (9 carbs)

4 months post op

Okay, so it's 4 months post op and I'm 19 lbs down. Starting to keep up with my caloric intake like I should have been doing all along but just got lazy. I surely don't want this to be all for nothing. I just thought surgery would make losing easier for me but it's still alot of work. Very frustrating but I'm willing to keep up with the progress because I've spent alot of money and have some limitations that I can't ignore.
