Two Weeks, One day

Well, I know I haven't posted since day eight, but nothing much had changed at that point. Today, I had my first visit with my doctor since surgery and I am glad to report that I down 32lbs. I get to move onto puree foods tonight...yippee! Mashed potatos are sounding pretty good for dinner.   I would like to hear from others what they had come up with for recipes during this puree period.

Day eight!

Good Morning to all who are reading. And if it is just me.... well good morning to me. This day finds me in pretty good spirits. Another pound gone and no hunger pains. I am eating or should I say drinking just the broths, juices and jellos. No coffee or teas. And then naturally water.   I have just one stitch that seems to be a bit painful when I turn just right, otherwise I don't even know I have been cut. All, but one, of my bandages came off yesterday in the shower.   Well off to breakfast..... broth and water! Yippee!

Day Seven

Well, this morning I am waking with a few more pounds gone. I am now down (unofficially) ten pounds since surgery. Unofficially! Meaning, that I am using the house scale verses the doctors scale. I don't see the doctor until next Thursday and then I will know for sure how I am doing.   Still no hunger pains and I am not having issues with not taking in any caffeine at all. I was drinking as many as five to six cups of coffee a day and then two, three sometime four diet cokes a day.   I have noticed a large rashy/scaly area I have had on my ankles for years have greatly improved since the surgery a week ago. I have not explanation for it. I will share it with the doctor and report later.

Day Six

Day six was even better than day five. Having a little difficulty with getting all 2 guarts of water down. It literally takes all day to get it done. I am finding that the fruit is a big benefit when at work, I am not feeling the weak feelings I initially did when I returned to work. So far, so good!   Let me know your thoughts!

Day Five

Well day five came and went without any great ordeal. Day five was the day I planned on returning to work, which I did. I had little difficulty with a feeling of low blood sugar. My job has me walking quite a bit, so I was feeling I needed more in the tank. So, I added some fruit juice to my liquid intake and that took care of that. Thus far I have had no great hunger pains, no problems with the lack on caffine. I am looking found to move out of this liquid diet stage.   question.... what day did you return to work?

Day Four

Day four finds me waking with a large amount of gas, but well rested. I have lost an additional 2 pounds. My incision are not painful at all. So, far everything is going very well.

Day 3

The day started with a better night of rest. I am feeling much better today and my color has returned. I have not noticed any hunger pains thus far. I have lost five pounds since being home, much of which I believe was or is the IV water just passing through. OK, time for a fruit (100%) fruit juice Popsicle. Hmmmmm!   Oh, I turned on comment posting to this blog. Thanks for letting me know if wasn't working.

Its done!

This past Thursday morning I had the Lap-banding procedure completed. After checking into the hospital at 6am, I was wheeled of to surgery shortly after 7am. According to the doctor all went, everything went as planned. I was in my room shortly after 10am and my wife joined me just a few minutes later. Though, I was groggy I wasn't feeling to worst for wear. It wasn't until the following day, Friday, that I had any sizable discomfort. It was after leaving the hospital heading home that I started to feel a bit uneasy in the stomach region. We got home and I immediately found the comfort on my chair and took some meds. I was sleeping there after.   Now, this morning was much different. I am feeling pretty good, just a bit of discomfort, not much. I have been moving about the house all day and even a short jont outside to untangle the dog.   I haven't felt any hunger pains or emptiness at all. I am slowly consuming my water requirement and sucking on jello squares.   Thus far chicken and coffee (yes decaf) are unappealing. I have been drinking beef broth, water and jello. There are so many choice to the jello alphabet on can't get too bored.   I had more stomach pain from a small navel hernia repair than I have had for this process...so far!

The schedule has been made.

I talked with the nurse today. We have a date. It's the 13th of March. I am very excited and relieved at the same time. I was all ready for the insurance company to say No.. and then the fight would be on... but gladly that didn't happen. Now, a just few appointments prior to the big day and I will become a loser for good.:huh2:

Lost Records may hold things up!

Well, yesterday I recieved a phone call from my doctor's office manager, Ann. She told me that there is a snag in the works in getting insurance approval. Somehow, my medical records that were transfered a year ago are missing or incomplete in a major way. So, after talking with Ann, we got together with a med record specialist and we are now requesting records from my previous doctor and clinic, again! I hope this doesn't take weeks to complete. All other steps have been completed, so once these record get here we can go forth to the insurance company. Waiting!

Second Post

Well, two days have past since my first post. Nothing new to report other than this whole surgury process is starting to consume my every thought, and the conversations I am having with my wife are dealing with the upcoming surgery and the meal prior too and after. I can only imagine that this a nature course for some this serious. I look forward to this whole thing happening and I, once again, can shop in a store near by. LOL! So, nothing new other than a little rambling.

Pre Surgery

This is the start to my journey back to a former life. Yesterday I complete the six month doctor visits that is required by my insurance company (BCBS). I am now waiting for the insurance companies OK stamp on my paperwork. I know how slow paperwork can creep through the system, so I am a month or more from surgery. I am starting off a 365lbs at 5'11" and BMI about 50. I am borderline with a few medical issues that haven't cropped up yet, so I better do something. Yes, I have tried the diet plans from A to Z and a few I have tried a few more than once. Part of my problem is a bad back problem I recieved for a car accident in May 1990. At that time I was a 210, six foot military man in good shape. Since, it has been a downward spiral of weight gain and pain... Now, is the time for me to turn this around before medical issues crop up or death replaces this life. If you care to read my journey, I plan on posting at each event while going through this change of life. Since, my goal is 210, I might be writing for awhile. If you care to comment I would love to hear from you. -Bill
