No regrets here!! I pondered over this for 15 yrs..when 2 of my specialists referred me this direction I knew it was time an for me!! An with hashis an other diseases the weight was goin to continue to go up...best thing I've done for me an no one else! I am 3 wks out an 35 pds down an inches are the biggest change..starting to feel sexy again! I needed this tool..I can only get about 4 maybe 5 bites in..but food is no longer my crutch...I have had 2 yrs of therapy an I no wat my underlying causes o turn to food for comfort was...issues settled! If you have a eating disorder this won't work if your using food to comfort...if you have a love for food need to get help for that first...have to change behavior. ..u can't do it on our own..it takes professional help...learn to eat to live not live to eat...I stand by my decision. ..luving myself again an taking care of me..so I can be around to take care of others! :) best wishes...

I'm only in 3 1/2 weeks but have not been this happy in a very long time. I understand your concern about divorce, they say it's like 75% but, if you are truly happy with the one your with and they support your choice the 2 of you will be fine! It would take a heck of a lot for me to even think about leaving my man, he's the most supportive man I've ever met. I hope you make the right decision for you. Good luck!

Honestly the only time I regret it or should I say I wish I had my old stomach back is christmas and easter.
We have big family meals I don’t mean a million dishes I mean like 15 people big it’s a tight squeeze as it is now add 2 babies and 3 new partners attending its bursting at the seams as there is not point me sitting at the table taking up space when I can only eat 4 forkfuls I don’t attend the meals and I stay upstairs sometimes with the babies if they are asleep or just on my own if they are awake.
There isn’t even a space for me to sit away from the table its all taken up by places to put food and drink because so many people are at the table.
That’s pretty depressing being out of all the talking laughing fun for 3 hours THAT’S the only time I miss it and be part of it.
I used to love them times of year now honestly its just depressing and upsetting instead.
Other times not at all not a major eat out type of person never was so don’t miss that, life is way way better health all of it just them 2 times a year I am sad.

I'm also scared because I know there's a high divorce rate after the surgery and I already resent my husband at times when I'm on diets and he's eating pizza or god knows what else. Any advice? Has ANYONE regretted their decision to get the surgery? Thanks guys!

Ok this is the first I've heard about high divorce rates post-surgery. Is there some actual data on this?

Divorce rate is high due to complete transformation and the emotional rude this takes you on...not due to the surgery per se. Let's face it alot of morbidly obese people feel trapped and isolated to some extent. Losing 160 plus is liberating and it changes you. A strong marriage grows stronger one with issues tends to break.

Oh advice on food resentment. ..get over it. Everybody will seem to be feasting around you. When you get to goal and feel and look great you will realize it was so worth it. During the weight loss phase though it can be rough. I looked at alot of success stories and before and after photos for ongoing inspiration.

I haven't had mine yet and scared having never a surgery before however I have gained and lost like everybody and I am ready.... I loved attention when thinner a few years back but as far as separating ( I'm not married..... 6 year relationship) I want him to be proud of having me on his arm. He says he is now but I want to share a lifetime with him and that's not going to happen unless I lose the other half of me.

My situation is a little bit different. I am almost three months out (sleeved 5/6/14) and have been nauseous ever since. Barely eat any food and have trouble getting in my liquid requirement, everything makes me sick. I regret my decision 1 million percent due to circumstances. I am losing weight rapidly, but being sick all the time, really can't enjoy my new found weight loss. This has resulted in depression and major body fatigue as well. So, like I said, I am not typical by any means, but given the choice, knowing what I know now, I would never EVER do it again.

Kelly, not sure if this gives you any comfort, but I was about 3 months out before I started feeling human again. Eating took such effort, it was a little depressing actually. I wasn't horrible nauseaous but didn't have much of an appetite and was slightly "off" feeling. The opportunity here is it is a time to really change your emotional and mental relationship with food and for me it really got better. At times it was frustrating because I emotionally wanted food but it made me feel crappy to eat much at all. By the time I was say 6 months out, that seldom happened and some of it was learning how to eat right, not eat too much, to eat slowly, to reduce acidic and spicy foods etc.

If you do not start feeling better soon, please follow up with your surgeon and NUT since I don't think it is your fate to always feel this way. This should be temporary.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
